Ahoy there sailor 🛳⚓

Watched the first 5 mins or less. It seemed like some gay activities were about to kick off, so I turned it off. Not for me.

Based on the first episode it is somewhat similar to Baby Reindeer: it's a fucked up situation the main character tries to cope through the best he can.

Also there is quite a bit of similar duality between the main character and his brother in law as there is in Fight Club between its two main characters.

Yeah I watched the first episode last night, tough watch but interesting.

Also when did Billy Elliott get so old?

After watching the second episode I think the main character is like a lost puppy seeking the approval of those around him and his brother in law being the most assertive person he flocks around him.

The main character is lost with no spine of his own, a chameleon trying to survive his best with each person coming round to him.

So far I think the show is not about being gay. So far I think the show is about close relationship violence, losing your father at a young age and how that affects you, loss of identity, having no one to show you how to form an identity, some sort of Stockholm syndrome and deep shame and guilt.

But yes. There is also gay stuff in it. But so far I don't think that is the main point of the story. I could end up being wrong though.

Oh yeah and a huge point of it is also NOT having to take responsibility your self: the main character just calls "the devil he knows" rather than deals with the changing circumstances in his life so that he DOES NOT have to take responsibility of his life OR to get to form his own free standing identity.

He can't deal with taking responsibility the slightest.

you mean gay club

Does anyone know which day the new episodes drop? Is it on Saturdays?

Looks like it's Thursdays. Although that's for BBC on iPlayer. Not sure if it's different for your location/service.

Found the airing dates from Wikipedia:

I guess there's only four episodes in total or they don't have all the info yet.

Edit: For some reason I cannot find the airing dates on HBO. Weird since that is one of the most basic functionality when considering TV programs. I guess streaming has changed the standards.

I've never been more troubled by a TV series. Give them Emmys already.

I never was traumatized by a show like this. Came close to home in not the good way. Highly uncomfortable to watch but must be one of the best show I ever saw. Can't wait for the last episodes.

6, two left on Thursdays.

Trauma alert. This TV show is not for everyone.

Ruben got raped as a kid for my understanding, he raped Niall as a teen but fucked up Niall liked it and came in his shorts. Ruben said same thing as his dad said to him, thus speech about his soul being destroyed showed that.He said to Niall throughout his flat's window after Ruben's dad confronted him. Niall got trauma and sabotaged his life, Ruben raped him again in Ep. 4 but seems Niall was so fucked up he didn't mind. We see Ruben dead at the end of the episode.

Still the lesbian moms are evil in every way.

Correct. They twist and turn many situations for the worse for both of the boys.

After episode four the correlations with Fight Club keep coming. Interesting twisted mind fuck of a show. Not in the typical mind fuck way but a more real gut punching social shaping way.

Hard to put to words really, but somehow they have nailed many of the social aspects in this show.

You might be right about the Fight Club scenario. Hospital scene gave me that vibe,

No Thank You GIF by The Dungeon Run

Y'all have fun with that!

I mean not literally like the Fight Club scenario: just the dynamic between the two main characters is similar.

It could end up being literally the same, but I doubt it.

Thanks for this.

Not watching.

I don't know if I should type this or does it really even matter but as far as I can tell there have been zero rape scenes in the show.

Well maybe in episode 4 Ruben shoved something up Niall's ass which had weirdly no clear consequences.

But yeah it is still not an easy to watch show. It is very dramatic and intense.

He literally jerked off his younger brother to be able to fuck the whore.

Another fucked up movie is Good Boy (2025 film). I watched it yesterday and Jesus did I felt bad afterwards. A couple terrorise a teenager for him to stop doing drugs. As a former drug addict that was a tough watch. Still highly recommended if you can handle trauma.
