halo 3 streaming live OMG FLAME THROWER!!!!

In Halo 3, though. Damn. The SMG sounded like a wild beast. They could nerf the hell out of it but I'd still use it, barreling into fights yelling "I'm a Spartan hear me roar!" Which is to say, the feedback loop in Halo 3 is pretty good. :D

Completely agreed. Nobody ever seemed to pick up the SMGs, and always seemed surprised when I flat out beat their assault rifle charges with a single SMG. On a side note, congratulations on your jump to HD-Land.

No, it was Ghaleon's immense disdain for these Xbox pirates who are quite possibly playing Halo 3 at this very moment. We all sensed it in that period.
Nah. It won't bug me when the game leaks and others are playing ahead of me, aside from having to be very careful online. I was never the kind of kid to raid my parents closet, looking for Christmas presents, because I enjoyed the rituals - the ceremony - around Christmas. The anticipation leading up to the big day, the festivities the night before. Opening stockings first, then taking turns opening one present at a time, saving the big ones for last.

Similarly I'm actually looking forward to the line ahead of the midnight launch. If it's like Halo 2's was, it will be festive and fun, hanging with fellow Halo geeks. The cheer that goes up when doors open, the anticipation of the drive home. Checking out the contents, then firing up the disk the first time. It's a product and all, but it feels like Christmas to me so a certain level of ceremony is appropriate. So I don't really envy anyone who just greedily downloads it and fires it up. I'd rather wait until Christmas.

And congratulations to you for reaching full-fledged Memberland. There's some kind of parallel there, I'm sure.

I'll be taking my camcorder to my line. :D I can't wait to sit around and finally get the adrenaline rush of actually holding my Legendary Edition box in my hands. By the time I get home, I will want to feverishly open it up and start playing against my 9 other friends during my first-ever Halo 3 LAN party. :D :D

i wonder if the fully customizable controls are still in

thinkin about doing something like this (alteration of halo 2 defaults)

LT grenades
LB grenade switch
RT Fire
RB Melee (oh yeah, baby)
Y-switch weapons
X-reload / use
B-equipment
A-jump

:o

Maybe. I must have taken the scenic route getting here or something, because some folks got here waaay faster (I don't understand how people are able to do it in like 2 weeks...I don't have that many constructive comments (or gifs, I guess) in my whole body.).

On the topic at hand, I really hope that that's a fake, because there is no way I have the willpower to resist leaked videos without destroying my cable modem or something, and then I'd have to give up on laughing at Girl-Age threads in the OT.... :(

I, on the other hand, was the type that would sneak into my mom's closet and replace my PS2 with a cinder block, only to switch them back on Christmas Eve. :D

There are two reload buttons. One for each "hand" mapped by dafault to LB and RB. Why would you change that?

For one, it's a near-useless feature.

For two, Boxer kicks ass.

God damn, you said it brother! I met a few people I still play with today, while in line for halo2. It is like a geek christmas, and hte drive home is never fast enough. Every red light mocks you as you feverishly flip through the manual as you drive.

My drive home after picking up Halo 2 was strange, to say the least. I encountered not a single red light, not even another VEHICLE whatsoever. It was like god was guiding me home to my Xbox.

Definitely. Reserved mine at the Gamestop at Pioneer Square, and I'm really looking forward to it. There's just something special about midnight releases; everyone's all there for the same reason, and there's a tangible feeling of excitement and camaraderie in the air that you really can't find very many other places.

I remember when a guy down the hall from me during the year I was studying in England got the French version of Halo 2 early. It was really cool, and I was excited to be playing it, but there was just something about the experience that was lacking. With an event like this, I want to experience the full effect.

I'm kind of scared to line up for releases. I don't want some ass spoiling a key story element well I'm waiting. In either case, I ordered my Legendary edition from Amazon, so I wont be getting my copy the second it is released.

Headphones, man. Headphones.

another interesting option

RT shoot
RB pick up / reload (both weapons)
LT grenades
LB switch weapon
d-pad grenade switcher (each direction is a grenade type)
x- equipment
y-melee
a-jump
b-unused

Your "grenade switcher" is also your left hand reload. ;) (Did I miss that with your last controller set up?)

EDIT: I did. You left LB the same last time making my previous posts pointless. :lol

His whole premise is that he hopes Bungie will allow fully-customizable controls. If they really were fully-customizable, then you could do that.

I, for one, hate scrolling through 3+ functions on a single button.

not sure what you're referring to ;) in halo 2 on 360, the grenade switcher is on the right :P

I think he means that in the Halo 3 beta, the left button was used for both reloading the left weapon and switching grenades types when not dual-wielding.

He's saying both functions would be stuck on the same button, no matter where you mapped it on the gamepad. I'm saying that if the controls were fully-customizable, you'd be able to map them to separate buttons.

By the way, how about we get back to the topic? Finally I tracked down a link of snprslick's footage (forgive the music, but it's par for the course with this kid):

I'm playing through Halo: CE again on legendary so that I can freshen myself up on the storyline in time for Halo 3. The game is still fantastic. Friendly AI is pretty retarded, but playing against enemies is a blast. There's nothing like having to take down two hunters with a needler while low on health. It does kind of suck not being able to hijack banshees, dual wield weapons, or pick up a sword, but that doesn't put a damper on the game play experience.

Right now I'm on "Belly of the beast" part of Truth and Reconciliation, and I keep getting fucking slaughtered in the first fight after teleporting up into the Truth and Reconciliation... Those golden elites are a bitch to kill. :lol

Just grab camo right away and take down those invisible elites the moment the doors open.

Just show up to wherever about 20-30 minutes after midnight. Sure, your missing out on playtime but alot less interacting with the colorful folk.

Man I hope the friendly A.I has learnt how to use rocket launchers/fuel rod cannons. In HALO 2 they would always fire it into other marines, myself, the wall or at an enemy that was point blank range from them. Either way, they would always be the cause of their own death as well as other friendlies.

In HALO 2 I would always stop mid-mission and upgrade all my friendly A.I's with better weapons, yet I was always wary of giving them explosives.

I've been playing Halo 2's campaign again to freshen up on the story and I've run into this probably a few times. It's so annoying.

Hunters were my favorite characters to fight in Halo 1, especially on legendary. It felt like a big event when you killed one of them.

Wow, what a thread. The funny thing is I actually know the guy who was streaming it. Well, I know one of his parents very well.

There's truly no need to be there much earlier. The doors don't open until like 12:20, and even the 100th person in line is out the door within 20 minutes.

Well, I suppose being first would be pretty neat. Just totally unnecessary.

I remember the surprise of my first Hunter encounter in HALO 2. Letting them charge, dodging, coming in close for the shot in the back only to have him whip his arm behind him and knock me the fuck out. Of course it's easy to dodge now, but when you weren't expecting it on your first run through in HALO 2, it was pretty freaky.

I hope Hunters have another behaviour up their sleeve for HALO 3. I want to see flood-infected Hunters. A hunter made up of it's worms, only each worm reminiscent of an infection-form flood.

I really hope the flood look gruesome in HALO 3.

I wonder why they haven't shown any flood models. It's not a Halo game without flood, who's going to be surprised when they show up? I just hope I don't have to deal with them for long, they're boring.

Well, if I remember right,
one of the datamined levels was called "floodvoi", which implies you face the Flood on Earth shortly after getting to the crater

As long as it's not set in a library.

Or, alternatively, on the way to the crater.

i know 2 other people getting it at midnight. sucks though cuz we are all reerved at different places.

would be a blast if the group was all kickin somewhere at the same time getting more hyped by the minute waiting.

They are very fun when there is a three way battle going on.

Adds a lot to gameplay, making smart choices and joining at the right time.

I suspect it's partly to surprise us with their new look, and partly because there will be new ones. Brute Flood anyone? Should be terrifying.

Both Flood and Gravemind have a profile on the halo3.com site, so they're not making a secret out of their inclusion in the game.

I just want them with a little bit better AI and possibly new weapons.

The challenge of fighting flood is their numbers and aggressiveness. I like it that way. If Bungie makes individual floods too powerful, they have to take away from their main characteristics and fighting with them won’t be the same.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I don’t want to fight flood the way I fight covenants.

My plan was to have my Gamestop friend solid snake his way into the store so I wouldn't have to wait in line, but now I'm not sure. All these glowing line stories have me jonesing for some of that action. Predicament.

Has anybody been told by EB about Midnight Madness yet? One guy who works at the one I preordered Halo 3 CE said they probably will but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Front page of EB.com right now:

If you've pre-ordered Halo 3, thanks for making it the fastest pre-ordered game in history. If you haven't yet, what are you waiting for?

I've never seen a game get pushed this hard. My Gamestop has the entire front of their store drenched in Halo 3 boxes, posters and display stands. It's going to be anarchy on launch day.

3 weeks and counting til Halo 3...thank god for the COD4 beta though, that'll definately make the time waiting for Halo go by much less painful.

I think there are two things that define the flood seen in Halo 1 and Halo 2. Very simplistic behaviors and aggressiveness. These two elements do not translate to smart enemy behaviors; however, the flood is designed to play differently then the other covenant races, not being smart is how this is done.

That being said, I hate fighting the flood. I like to slowly move through a battle and it is hard to be slow when the flood is constantly rushing you.

I'm still contemplating ordering the LE version from somewhere that opens at midnight.

I want an LE version (in addition to regular one) and I am not sure if MS store is going to carry them anytime soon.

Also, quick question. In Halo 1, whenever you shot a metal wall, a rain of sparks would rain down, Burnout style. I know that effect wasn't in Halo 2, but did anyone notice if it was in the Halo3 beta?

The Halo3 storm is coming..

It’s all about Halo 3 and Xbox 360 in this week’s Amazon.com chart. The Bungie shooter, which went gold last week, takes the top two spots on the best sellers list, followed by the 360 version of BioShock.

All Formats: Halo 3 has begun what could be a long-lived period of dominance in the US charts, three weeks before the title is officially released. Xbox 360 games may take the top three positions, but Nintendo platform titles have a major presence, while Sony is conspicuous only due to the absence of any PS3, PS2 or PSP games in the top ten. The Sims 2: Bon Voyage and BioShock weigh in for PC.

01. Halo 3*—Microsoft (Xbox 360)
02. Halo 3 Ltd. Edition*—Microsoft (Xbox 360)
03. BioShock—2K Games (Xbox 360)
04. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption—Nintendo (Wii)
05. Carnival Games—Global Star (Wii)
06. The Sims 2: Bon Voyage—EA (PC)
07. Wii Play w/ Remote—Nintendo (Wii)
08. Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day—Nintendo (DS)
09. Brain Age—Nintendo (DS)
10. BioShock—2K Games (PC)

I am mostly like you.

But even against covenants moving slowly does not work all the time. For example if you’re supposed to rescue some Marines and decide to take your time to pick up Brutes one by one, by the time you are done nobody will be left to rescue.
