This is real. Cause I said so.
Is there a skill based ranking system and consistent starting abilities/gear?
Didn't play the beta. Still don't own an Xbox.
Is this a sequel to Halo in the way that Halo 4 wasn't?
the designs for these are really cool, master chief looks rather lame next to them.
Do we know what's in the collectors edition yet? I'm guessing it's Blue Team, but they couldn't announce it as their inclusion hadn't been revealed (or even teased) when the different versions of the game were announced.

Keep in mind that Chief's armor is likely of the much older variant, and not the newer, more fancy armor variants that are available.
ya i totally understand that angle but also i think they cant really fuck around too much cause die hard fans typically hate change.
but yah i just love these designs so i wanted to just bring it up again.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess they have some kind of Mass Effect 3 style microtransaction system.
That or they're really feeling the pressure.
PC release? Cross-platform play? That would definitely show MS commitment to PC gaming on Windows 10!
- Whether playing as Chief or Locke, you're accompanied by a fireteam of 3 A.I. which you can command/issue orders to in the campaign
- Highlighting an enemy and hitting up on the D-Pad orders your team to assault an enemy
- Other commands include picking up certain weapons, using turrets, driving warthog, etc
- AI teammates can revive you as well
Smart move by doing free DLC maps.
Free MP maps makes me so happy. Back to the good days of free Halo 2 DLC, or even better if there's no delay this time
Spartan 4, but that's basically just a normal soldier in a Spartan suit. No augmentations like the other Spartans have, which makes them not nearly as powerful.
For reference: Halo 4 said it would take 10 Spartan 4's to beat one Spartan 2.
lol ...That would be some Gainax level trolling from 343I if they pulled something like that.l

Getting a republic commando vibe with those 3 ai at all times which sounds awesome.
We need more games like republic commando.
Here's some tidbits from this month's GI issue. A lot more in the magazine: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...y-cover-revealed-halo-5-guardians-923520.aspx

- Confirmed: Linda, Kelly, and Fred join the Chief
- Game starts out before Chief is on the run
- Audio has been heavily reworked from the ground up for Xbox One (bullet sounds, debris, etc)
- 8 months after Halo 4 ends, cataclysmic events are tearing apart star systems, these are tied to the Guardians (Forerunner entities shown in the first teaser trailer)
- Game Informer played the second mission, taking command of Chief and Blue Team to take back an ONI research vessel abandoned for 2 years
- Locke's team is described as having more advanced tech than Blue Team, members use the "ATS" (Artermis Tracking System) on their armor to bring out points of interests in levels
- Team banter replaces interactions with Cortana to flesh out the characters
- There are multiple routes to take in levels/multiple ways to tackle objectives
- Difficulty scales to the number of co-op players
- The zealous religious Covenant are slowly abandoning Jul M'dama's leadership from Halo 4
- Spoilers:
Cortana's silhouette is seen by the Chief after he's separated from Blue Team, she says: "John, the domain is open. Meridian is next. You only have 3 days, John. The Reclamation is about to begin."- XBL Gold is not required for online co-op.
- Halo 5 will launch with over 20 multiplayer maps
- 15 DLC maps by June 2016
- All maps will be free
- Teases a "completely new, epic multiplayer experience" they'll reveal at E3. Incorporates "all aspects of the Halo sandbox for the first time ever"
- This MP experience is described as a "dream of ours and all our fans to build something like this"
Is Buck also a spartan now???
Is Buck also a spartan now???
Man I'm concerned by those campaign details. 3 AI people with you at all times? Issuing them orders and stuff. Confirmation that you play as Locke.
Ehhhhhh
Is Buck also a spartan now???
Free DLC maps is cool. But it has the same impact the Wii U having a friends list did. It's a given nowadays.
Huh? I can think of a few games that have free map DLC, but it's by no means the norm.Free DLC maps is cool. But it has the same impact the Wii U having a friends list did. It's a given nowadays.
Doesn't that reinforce what Akai was pointing out though? That means that you would need to handicap a Spartan II for a IV to stand a chance. So many things wrong here.
1. The Spartan IV's have augmentations. They're detailed in Initiation and in New Blood.
2. It was never said it would take 10 Spartan IV's to beat one Spartan II
3. Frankie has been on the record saying a Spartan IV in GEN 2 armor is equal to a Spartan II in GEN 1.
4. Out of armor a Spartan II is superior.
That's about it.
especially after how poorly Halo 4s DLC was handled. i liked most of those maps but after buying them i rarely played them online
They look good except for the red one. Looks like something out of metroid.the designs for these are really cool, master chief looks so dated compared to these designs. recon even looks good here.
I agree. I am looking forward to playing more maps. I hope they have a better rotation system in place as well so we're not stuck playing the same two maps over and over.
My buddy made a good point when I told him the DLC news earlier. This takes a map pack pass off the table, so we're really wondering what's going to be the in LE.
This sounds like a pretty awesome shift, and would be an amazing change for Microsoft to push at e3. Having to pay for PS4 and not for Xbox would be crazy hilarious.

Some Spartan II's were also integrated into the IV program so they no doubt have Gen II variants of their old armor and I wouldn't doubt that they've updated Chief's as well since he will have all of the abilities the Spartan IVs have. A IV wouldnt stand a chance against a II. You also need to consider that it's not just the augmentations and armor that make the II's so lethal.
It feels like Halo is being crushed by the weight of it's lore. The first game was some pulpy space adventure, but after that the franchise began to take itself way too seriously.
It feels like Halo is being crushed by the weight of it's lore. The first game was some pulpy space adventure, but after that the franchise began to take itself way too seriously.
Fall of Reach detailed how children from all over the UNSC were kidnapped and turned into weapons to use in the fight against the Insurrectionists, and came out before CE. This isn't new, it's just finally being embraced.
I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer...I love free stuff and today's overall news was pretty great...but just don't get your hopes up on the news regarding the 35 maps.
I'm a huge Halo fan, but here's my concern. Many of those 20 Launch + 15 DLC maps will be either remixes or maps specifically/exclusively for The Breakout mode.
I think everyone should just be aware of that before their hype/expectations go through the roof and they end up criticizing 343i a year from now for "lying".
