They are done by the production company that helped with the art direction for the trailer.are they official? cause they're fucking sweet.
Interesting they had Locke without his helmet in concept
I'm convinced there's a lore-related reason for it. There's no way that Harvester was not, at the very least, "grown". It is definitely a remnant of a living creature.
I've been under the same impression.
The harvesters are moulded from Lekgolo, aren't they? Sbaolekgolo to use the right term for the type used in a meta-colony.
They're like Scarabs in that, or indeed even Hunters.
So not based off a creature that looks like it, but rather moulded from worms...It could be that the explanation of the appearance is just for intimidation?
And in the leaked on-set photo from a couple months back as well.

Righttt, forgot about that. I wonder if they put the helmet back on because it is more recognizable or that he looks more menacing and less human.
This could also be a shot between takes. I imagine those helmets get hot under there.
Sure, but the concept art as well?

I don't think there'll be a third trailer from that context. Next "trailer" we get will be at E3, and it'll be grouped with campaign gameplay.
Yup. We still need that scene where Locke puts on his helmet. Looks spectacular.
Cross interaction from the halo trilogy and Halo 4 was atrocious, notably
- The Chief is alive again, nobody cares.
- The Chief has seen more Spartans, doesn't care.
- Literally no effort was made to further flesh out the covenant or their post trilogy shenanigans. Pretty jarring considering how Halo 3 ended on a peaceful note.
- No mention of the flood (lol?)
- No original trilogy characters
- No fucking Halo theme
It's like they didn't want to cater to Halo fans at all.
Taking down the shields to the Didact's ship with the infinity coming to support you had plenty of the Halo theme playing. You must have missed it.
Why would the Chief have an overthetop reaction to seeing other Spartans? He's seen Spartans his whole life. What was he suppose to do, go off on a huge emotive tangent about how much he missed seeing other Spartans? The fact is the Chief may have been a more talkative Chief in Halo 4, but the Chief still very much means business, and is more concerned with getting results than reminiscing with some Spartans he obviously doesn't know.
Why would the Covenant's post trilogy shenanigans even be a concern when they were far separated from that part of the universe, and were much more concerned with the dangerous crap going down on Requiem? I don't get it. There was no time for them to just stop and catch the Chief up on galaxy wide diplomacy and politics. All they knew is that there was a set of covenant still seemingly up to the same old shit, and there was a whole new set of dangerous enemies that would pose a threat to all of humanity. The Chief is alive again, nobody cares? Absolutely not true, it was beyond obvious that Laskey was relieved as all hell to see the chief and knew he was in the presence of a true hero and legend.
Palmer's "I thought you'd be taller" was totally tongue in cheek and very nicely done. It was her way of acknowledging the legend without going too far and absolutely gushing over the guy.
It had a bit of joke in there, but the respect in it was also clear. I didn't see it as at all disrespectful towards the Chief. That one wasn't necessarily just for you, but some seem to think it was evidence of a lack of respect for the Chief. Since when were people never allowed to poke fun at or make jokes about the Chief? Cortana, Johnson, and I believe others, have done it many times. Not putting Palmer on the same level as those characters, but we have to be realistic sometimes.
The game mentions the flood, and they weren't even the focus of the story, so why would they have to come up in any significant way? The threat was the prometheans, the didact, and the composer.

That could just be a clip from a cutscene. Cant imagine many more CG trailers for Halo 5, especially not at E3.
I'm still convinced that this is in-game:

Doesn't mention which planet though.
Yep this really looks ingame. That shading IMO gives it away. New PBR lighting.
I hoping Halo 5 really pushes the 'box the same way 4 did.

I'd say this is definitely in-game. Pre rendered cutscene with in-game assets ala Halo 4, could easily see it looking that good.
I just wished they fixed that cutscene in Reclaimer.

Looks great.
I'm guessing Halo 5 will be heavy on the lighting and particle effects - even at ~1080pr 60fps which I'm assuming it'll be running at. We're gonna see sand, water, reflections, and sparks like never before.
Agreed. There's in - game assets and cgi in the mix by the looks of it like halo 4.No way that cutscene is ingame

The same was said when we first saw in game Halo 4 screens...Agreed. There's in - game assets and cgi in the mix by the looks of it like halo 4.
On my recent MCC play through I thought something felt off about that scene but couldn't put my finger on it. Yeah, the lighting is horrible compared to the 360 version.

Yep, I think it's gonna be a looker that plays like a champ. I can't wait to see a live demo of the campaign to watch 5 seconds, say yep, and close it because I'm not spoiling myself. Multiplayer though, give me all of it.
Agreed.Yeah honestly, Halo 4 looks pretty good ported over to Xbox One. This is a brand new engine running on brand new hardware and 343 are technical wizards with respect to squeezing out the good stuff from their hardware. I wouldn't be surprised at all.
Granted, it's a 2 second gif ripped from a montage video, but it doesn't appear to have that smooth, fluid animation of a CGI cutscene. It looks like mo-cap, given the more realistic way his arms drop.
But again- This is total over-analyzation of a tiny gif haha. Who really knows. Could be a result of just about any process.
I'm just going off of how good Halo 4 looked, and how much better it looks on the Xbone- this appears to be a natural next step in fidelity.
I mean CGI uses mo-cap too. The Blur cinematics were done with mo-cap. Not saying it is or isnt, some of the stuff this generation has blown me away, wouldnt be surprised if this was in engine.
Oh that's true! It just doesn't look like CGI to me. But I could be totally wrong haha.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Well done.
I'm calling y'all the slrp twins. I didn't think we'd ever find someone who likes Halo 4 as much as SenjutsuSage.
That's more like it.

My guess is that you're younger than me, since halo game favoritism is almost always based on which one released when you had the most free time / friends to play with. Though I'll admit I really, really enjoyed the H5 beta and I think the marketing so far has been quite good.
