Halo Infinite | Multiplayer Overview live now

The first question I asked myself after watching this (and I think it looks excellent) is: Why stop at Xbox and PC?
If MP is F2P like Fortnight and Apex and all that, then why not release it on PS5? Switch? If you want Halo to blow up, blow it the fuck up!
Bring the whole world in, sell those battle passes, get people. buying Halo toys and shirts and digital things etc. Really go all in.
The PS5 guy drew his line in the sand and is pot committed to that hardware. But he'd sure as shit play Halo Infinite on Playstation and suddenly you're reaching him and all his pals.
It would be interesting to see if Sony would allow MS to release HALO MP on the PS5. I actually think that would be a cool move. The major issue on this above MS and Sony, is that in all the cross platform games sony has demanded to be paid for it. I don't see MS wanting to give Sony a cut of Halo sales. But I think there is a good business case to say a cut of something is better than a cut of nothing.

what is all this battle pass and seasons shit? dont think i care for any of that

everything else looks and sounds amazing tho. cant wait

The gameplay still looks oddly weird to me, it's hard for me to put a finger on what it is. But it is f2p so I will most likely check it out.

Check out MCC, they're testing it out there and it's leagues better than any of the loot box bullshit that other games have.
i dont even know what "loot box bullshit" means. i havent participated much in online shooters in recent years so i guess im a bit out of the loop. . whatever happened to just clicking BTB, waiting in a lobby for a couple minutes, playing a match, then rinse repeat? why do we have to have passes and seasons and all this? just seems like a gimmick to make them more money

Multiplayer actually looks not bad. Graphics look more on par with halo 4 rather than better than halo 5 to me in many parts, especially the interior with the grates. Kind of sucks for them that battlefield looks to be making a massive come back this year though.
120 fps doesn't come cheap

I can't get past how tired all these devs look. They all have visible bags under their eyes. I've been around for serious crunch and this just hurts to see.

it's all customization. If you prefer just to play, you can do that (at least in Halo). Other games give you weapons, skins, XP boosters, and so on.

It doesn't look like what Halo needed. It just looks like they took Halo 5 and backtracked on some of their changes with traditional ideas.

I'm sure it will be a decent game, but you can just tell that spark is still missing. The environments look flat, the weapon/spartan designs look overly complicated which was never Bungie's style and makes the sci-fi feel more generic, there is still XP popping up to the left of your kill and hit markers in the shape of an X because that's the way COD does it, etc. There is just nothing about it that looks great or innovative or exciting.

It still looks like they are caught between whether they want Halo to be an arena shooter or modern-arcade shooter like COD. It doesn't seem like a game that was made out of passion or a clear vision, it looks like the product of a mix of different business directives on how to course correct from the reception to the previous game so that people won't be pissed.

Halo has just become another MP shooter when it used to be a leader of the entire genre. Frankly, BO4 to MW19 was a much bigger jump than this. Oh and MW19 has way better graphics and animations than this, there's no getting around that this game looks outdated.

You just explained my feeling well.

Be like me.
Ignore the battlepasses and lootboxes.

Play the games the old fashioned way.
Whatever "free" unlocks come my way cool....otherwise im just here for a good time.
I havent spent money on a battlepass yet because most/alot of them have basically a time limit that basically holds you hostage to keep playing the game because you want unlock XYZ.

So now I just act like they arent there and keep playing the game with what ve got.

Halo Infinite being nothing but cosmetics makes it even better....ill so rarely see my spartan and as long as I can make Noble 6 relatively early, there is little chance Ill see reason to actually buy the Battlepass.

idk to me it looks like a good mix of classic halo and modern halo. they just have to nail the pacing and tension correctly. that's what made the older halos sublime and what's missing in the entirety of the cod franchise.

Wow what a thought-provoking and striking response. Clearly Halo fans are well-equipped with an armada of convincing arguments as to why this game looks good.

Also if you think I'm a Playstation fanboy, I will be buying an Xbox to play Stalker 2, a shooter that looked way more interesting and cutting-edge than this does.

you have to purchase a battle pass for customization? and their are different seasons...?

im more confused now lol
Look the battle pass is a ladder typically including 100 tiers of unlockable content at each tier, think like an XP bar, and every tier/level you hit you unlock the corresponding content of that tier.

let's say at tier 65 there's a helmet so you have to keep playing unlocking all the previous tiers till you reach 65.

each new season brings a new battle pass with 100 tiers of new content to unlock

I just can't get over how good this looks, legit all I've wanted from a halo game.

the forerunner pillars look so much better too, here's some random screen grabs I picked up

No, you simply can play and unlock customization elements. The other option is to pay for them. The different seasons give you different armor options.

so you have to buy these battle passes? or you have to earn them through gameplay? or both? thanks for clearing it up im starting to understand a little more now.

but whatever happened to just having levels? like if im a level one and shit unlocks at level 10. why are we calling them battle passes now? lol seems dumb, and just another way for them to get people to by more shit. but hey if it works, ore power to em. but itd be dumb if they sold them bc theyd mean nothing at that point. someone could have bought just as much as they earned them, which takes the coolness out of actually having them, no?
Think of it like fortnite but you can buy prior seasons even after they've ended if there was something you liked in them to unlock
wait you can buy seasons? lol what? wtf is a season? i never played fortnite

ngl, this ll seems unnecessary and dumb. again, what happened to clicking a game mode, waiting in a lobby, then playing the match. its simply, to the point and no bs.

thanks for the response tho, ill figure it out eventually, im just ignorant bc i havent played online shooters much in the last decade

I know it's a new system fortnite kinda popularized and a lot of games feature them, yes typically you buy the battle pass (although in MCC it is free).

just think of it as you playing the game and getting rewards as you play, it'll make so much more sense once you try it !!

a season is like a specific theme for a battle pass, so they said first season of halo infinite battle pass is a halo reach theme, maybe season 2 battle pass will be halo CE themes

gotcha. ok cool, thanks! lookin forward to some BTB this holiday

btw, did anyone see a mongoose in any of these clips? or something comparable. mongoose mow down is my favorite halo past time. i will straight up ruin a game of BTB for the rest of my team 🤣 its just too much damn fun

Season is just another term for battle pass, since they generally last that long (around 90 days)

Black ops Cold War, with like 2 or less years in development offers it optionally in exchange for visual fidelity while running on less platforms. Why isn't halo doing something similar?
Because 120 fps is the focus going forwards and it should be an industry standard for multiplayer games (especially shooters) for the future

if you want options PC is the platform for you

Looks good to me. Can't wait to try it. Pretty sweet that as a PS5 owner, I can play this for free on my son's PC.

The best thing about Halo multiplayer is that everyone starts the match on equal footing. I play a shit ton of Destiny multiplayer, and I love it, but you spend many hours doing chores just to make sure you can compete. Halo's style is much more relaxing.

Yep. Who wants all the engagement blockage. If I want realism I'll go fire guns for real. Games deserve clean gunplay IMO. I cannot stand all the ADS geo in the way and moving about. It just detracts not adds.
fair enough! guess i'm so used to having ADS as almost every shooter does it, so when a halo/doom comes along, it's jarring not to have it. still can't imagine playin bf without it!

i for one am excited for battlepasses, it gives me something to work for. I am not the biggest halo fan but it keeps me playing as long as the unlocks are worth it.

I think in general, the stage sizes and stuff going on are vastly different. What it really comes down to though are the fact that both studios are using two different engines which have very different capabilities.

I don't really have a lot of faith in 343 and their engine tech and think most of the difference comes form that.

I absolutely love this, although I'm sure it'll eventually be spun into a bad thing

Having multiple Battlepasses running at once means youll never finish any of them because youll keep moving to the new battlepass and abandon your old ones.....being able to buy old battlepasses means youll be spending more money per season because youll buy old battlepasses you didnt get before deciding on buying the current seasons battlepass.
Its better to be held hostage intrigued with one battlepass that will expire so I know what to focus on.

Call of duty's 120fps is half-assed on console. In multiplayer it's pretty solid but it still drops especially in the bigger modes and in campaign the FPS averages around 70-90 on current gen systems.

not that I agree with graphics. From the comparisons I've been watching it looks easily on par if not better than halo 5 especially with the lighting.

Have no hope for the campaign of halo infinite but It seems 343 finally found a good middle ground for the multiplayer for veterans (bungie days) & newcomers (halo 5), will defo try this out day one on my gaming laptop.

God, the Xbox fan boys are out in force today

Lol, it's my opinion, if you don't like, move along, I've posted video examples and described my thoughts. If that isn't enough for you you'll never get it
you just dont understand anything. they told you what they know. i will tell you to wise up, and stop bullshiting.

The fact that you want to pay attention to enviroment is your first mistake in a multiplayer games. that is a sniper shot. I tried that, got my ass kicked alot.

There is no fanboys in their words. its just you who have no clue about it.

You could just focus on one till you finish it before moving on.

No one is forcing you to buy all the passes or move onto the next one the second it comes out :p

I like this more relaxed approach tbh & hope other games adopt it.

Lmao that's how I feel too

I mean, I get it now after being explained (I think...?), but... wtf why, seems all so unnecessary and a weirdly obvious money grab. "Oh you can only unlock this armor during a certain time of the year, but here you can buy a pass that will give you the license to start unlocking right now. Oh yeah and btw, some of them were only available one time, so now if you want that armor you have to buy the pass."

Celebrities-Who-Became-Memes-01.jpg

like... wat? Lol if you're going to sell shit then just sell it. Don't hide it behind this weirdly transparent pay wall disguised as a "fun game mechanic" or whatever they're going for.

maybe I'm still not understanding it correctly, which brings me back to your gif comment 😂 like why does this need to anymore complicated than you can buy it now, or unlock in game. There's no need for passes or seasons.
