Han Solo actor - I'm just not seeing it.

I don't know. Donald Glover looks like a young Lando, the guy playing Han Solo does not.

Maybe when the movie is finally out, I'll eat crow. But I'm just not seeing it. I saw the cast picture. Confirmed my suspicion. Gave it some time to sink in. Nope. Not happening.

I saw the Han solo fan film and that actor pretty much nailed a young Harrison Ford.

This Aiden guy however, not sure. But I'll give him a shot since he has my son's name. lol

Anyone still not sold on this guy as Han Solo?

going to wait and see...kind of hard to judge right now.

"Heath Ledger as Joker? I'm just not seeing it yet. Anyone else?"

I'm assuming he can act the part well; going with a lookalike has advantages but finding one that can actually pull off the role is another thing.

I'm not even sold on the idea of them even making a Han Solo film.

I don't think any actor could be a perfect match, because the entire premise and idea of the movie just seems flawed in general.

I agree with you on Solo however I don't see how Glover looks like a young Lando at all. Plus its not even really "young" characters, its set a couple years before the OT. To enjoy this film you basically have to accept the fact this will be a totally unique take on all these characters.

I'm not sold on the idea of a Han Solo movie in general, to be quite honest. I am worried they won't do the character justice in terms of keeping him consistent with where he was at in the beginning of ANH.

I'll still see it because it's Star Wars, and VII and R1 were both fantastic. But I'm keeping my hype in check.

I think this is what happened. They tried look-alikes and they just could not carry a movie.

This is a big budget Disney Star Wars film. Nearly a Billion dollars will be made when it's all said and done.

I'm hoping I'm proven wrong and they can change my mind.

i don't know - it looks like children play-acting at Star Wars.

and yeah, the new Han Solo just seems so forgettably generic.

I need to see official movie photos or a trailer before I make judgement on whether this actor is a fit or not. Same goes for Glover who is playing young Lando.

idk what's the obsession of having the dude look exactly like harrison ford. he's obviously not harrison ford, because he's somebody else. i'll know this the whole way through the movie, even if he did look like harrison ford.
This was the main problem with the last Steve Jobs movie.

nah, the problems in that movie had nothing to do with fassbender

He looks older than Harrison did in A New Hope.

It's not going to work and I have no idea why they thought it ever would have. Film should have been a Donald Glover Lando adventure and had Anthony Ingruber (who couldnt carry a whole film) just show up at the end to win the Falcon.

Not that I disagree with your wait and see comment, but it's a bad analogy, Heath Ledger wasn't being cast as a younger version of Jack Nicholson's Joker, whereas this actor's explicitly the same character as Harrison Ford. A better example would be Ewan McGregor. I'm not sure that he looked all that much like Alec Guiness when he was cast either, but given time he ended up being good in the role. With better writing from the get go this guy could be perfectly fine as Han Solo.

How he plays the character is much more important than how he looks. There could be actually young Harrison Ford, if he doesn't play the Han Solo character, it would be useless.

Should've just brought Ewan back to make an Obi-Wan spinoff.

As much as I think this movie is a potentially awful idea, I think the choice is perfect. I think he has just a little bit of Ford's face while not trying to completely replicate Ford as a younger man. I'm not sure if they could have done better.

1st act: Obi Wan visits the Skywalkers and throws fan-gasms every 5 min.

2nd act: Communicates with Yoda about the Rebel Alliance

3rd act: Hides behind a valley pass for an hour waiting for Luke and R2 to be ambushed.

Exciting.

Tbh if they can all pull of the characters there supposed to portray I'll be happy with that . What they look like really doesn't matter to me as long and han solo and Lando still act like Han Solo and Lando . And Donald Glover totally resembles Lando and he has the acting chops and the swagger to pull it off.

If its canon in the same cinematic universe its a little jarring. We want to be immersed in the fictional universe not be hit over the head with the corporate money machine.

People seem to really, really prioritize the look of characters over anything else and I don't get it. I've always found the "let's cast video game movies based on finding head shots of actors that look like the character models" discussions weird as well. Like, of course Hugh Laurie has to play Gordon Freeman because he sort of resembles the box art rendition of a character who never speaks in a first person game. No one else wouldn't make sense!

Nice 19 year gap between episode 3 and 4. Don't be silly.

You can't replace Harrison Ford but if the guy is charisma central on film like Ford then it probably won't matter. It's just weird until you see a trailer then you can have a better opinion.

Perfect looks or impersonation aren't that important and is why you cast Brie Larson and not Kate Sachkoff as Captain Marvel or that dude that does a good Ford impression.

I haven't been paying attention to this film and have absolutely no idea which of the dudes in there, outside of Woody and Glover, is supposed to be who.

I guess...but people just see Joker a certain way and a "baby face" actor just wasn't what they imagined him being. Turns out they were way off.

My point basically is, judging a book by its cover really is a bad way to analyze the talents of an actor.

People are bringing up Fassbender in Steve Jobs and that movie was incredibly well done (while not being completely accurate).

Oh wait, that actor is playing Han? I thought the guy from Baby Driver and other movies was playing him.
