Happy 2nd Birthday Wii U!

I've had a Wii U since launch. It's my main console. I don't have a PS4 or Xbox One.

I've had such fun with it. Currently playing Bayonetta and Mario Kart 8. I've got but haven't started playing Pikmin 3 and Bayonetta 2. And I need to go back and complete Wind Waker HD and Zombi U and finish my 100% on Super Mario 3D World.

Other great games I have are New Super Mario Bros U, Ninja Gaiden 3 Razors Edge and (surprisingly) Black Ops 2.

Great console!!!

Really? I haven't been paying attention. So purchases are tied to accounts rather than consoles?

Yep, though the account is tied to the console still, but you can transfer them now...in a convoluted way, either through Nintendo or if you have two Wii Us for some reason.

If you delete the account using your 3DS, you'll lose your purchases on Wii U too.

Two years old, no N64 games still.

Wii had Mario 64 on day one. Why Nintendo. Why.

It has a proper account system :)

So I can get all my games back from the first time I owned a Wii U? How do I do that

If I can't, it's not a proper account system.

Contact Nintendo Support.

I don't have the serial or anything, just my NNID I used back then. Basically got it to play Monster Hunter, played, sold console, just recently bought a used one for cheap for Bayo and Smash. Am I fucked?

Invest one minute of internet search and you have the answer. People are so lazy these days.

Q: What if I don't have my old Wii U?

A: In order to perform a Wii U to Wii U system transfer, both Wii U consoles will need to be present. If your source console is no longer available, please contact us for support.

I wish I hadn't bought it.

Mario Kart hype got me and I hardly ever touch it. Last time was more than a month when Bayonetta came out. Now is just using an hdmi port.

Bought one just after last Christmas, it was WWHD and Mario3D world that sold me on it.

Was feeling gamer fatigue after the 360, nothing on the ps4 or xbone was exciting me, so I went for my first Nintendo console since the SNES.

Been having an absolute blast, and my love of gaming is re-invigorated.

Still haven't gotten round to finishing 3D World, or even starting WWHD, as I have been playing a lot of indies, a lot of wii games (picked up for cheap), and some VC games too.

Standouts include: ZombiU, Pikmin3, w101, LegoCityU, DeusEx:DC, NSMBU, Mario Galaxy1+2, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Okami, Steamworld:Dig, Shovel Knight, Knytt, Stick it to the Man, Art of Balance, Pushmo, Child of Light, Earthbound (SNES - never came out in UK), Mario Kart 8.

I ain't even got round to Tropical Freeze or Hyrule Warriors yet, and then there's Bayonetta1+2. Baffles me when people say WiiU had no games, and whilst retail 3rd party support is lacking, indie's are there in abundance.

Also just saw this 60fps Splatoon trailer, which is encouraging for the future - check it out:

Never did I own a console I was so torn about.

I love the idea of asynchronous local multiplayer - sadly there was only Nintendoland to fully realize it's potential. Maybe the next Mario Party will dip into those waters again successfully.

I hate some of the ways the system handles things though. Not being able to output 50hz combined with Nintendos incompetence in the way they handle the VC is mind baffling.
While the overall idea of the system menu is pretty fine, they just couldn't pull it off properly. They are missing some key features (why am I not able to copy a savegame if I bought the game from the eshop?, loading time etc.).
They got a bit better over the last two years in those regards though.

The games - awesome. I really enjoyed Nintendos output the last two years and I hope they manage to keep up the level of quality they are at right now.
To another two years of Nintendo games in HD!

Owned a Wii U since launch and do not regret my purchase. In fact it's become my most played console currently. It had a few slow spots in terms of release schedule but indies and hidden Wii gems kept me busy (along with my 3DS and PS3/X360).

My satisfaction with the console continues to grow and it is still home to my most anticipated games over the next year with Smash, Splatoon, Xenoblade, Zelda U, SMT x FE, Kirby, Captain Toad, Star Fox, etc...

Bought wii u on launch day and im loving it i have amassed a great library in the 2 years its been out thats kept me busy for a long time.

Wii U dominates my console gaming time because the games are just so GOOD and I honestly don't have that much time to just play things these days.

Thanks Nintendo for releasing a constant stream of GOTY candidates with no bullshit technical issues, patches, or horrendously overpriced DLC/Micro Transactions (MK8 does it right).

Happy birthday, Wii U, you little weirdo gaming machine.

Bayonetta 2 might be my GOTY, and the rest of 2014 was pretty great as well. Can't wait for Zelda 2015.

Is it weird to say that this will probably end up being my favorite Nintendo console? Been playing since the NES days but Nintendo and HD just feels so right to me.

Happy birthday! Slow start, but the quality software keeps on growing...keep on fighting a good fight!

Can't wait for Xenoblade Chronicles X! And the rest of 2015 lineup as well!

This thread is really making me want to buy a wiiu, if only it was region free so i could buy it here in japan and still play my eng language games.

I've had it since launch and have loved it since launch.

New Super Mario Bros. U, Zombi U and Nintendo Land is seriously one of the best launch lineups in terms of exclusives of any console in a looong time.

Just bought a WiiU this past week. Love it.

Haven't bought a Nintendo console since Gamecube.

Great complement to PS4, or Xbone etch.

I also have had it since launch but I was a big fan of it up until Mario Kart's launch. Since then, I'm playing my WiiU more than my PS4 and my Xbone. I'm buying more and more games for it and I'm feeling like the purchase was a great one.

Even with the bad first year, I still think it was a great purchase on launch. I have around 30 games for the console and I'm thinking about getting some more games even though I already have them for others consoles (I'm thinking about getting Batman Arkham Origins and Lego Marvel).

I can't wait to play Smash (specially if the online works well) and next year's games. I think the WiiU is the best console this year and a great holiday gift.

Half its life as been lived! Happy birthday!

It's finally justifying my launch day purchase with all these games.

I haven't had mine long, but loving it so far. Honestly, the system doesn't deserve the hate it generates on GAF or the internet in general.

The Gamepad is surprisingly comfortable (now that I'm used to it), and I love off-tv play, and the ability post help requests on miiverse. And for a system that isn't supposed to have any third party support, it sure has a lot of great 3rd party games I want to play (most of them "indies"... and yes, they are third parties too).

Right now I'd say it's my favorite console since the Dreamcast. It kinda has that Dreamcast vibe too, especially with games like Splatoon on the horizon.

...........and best next gen console going right now. Impressive first party line up filled with the best iterations of many of Nintendos franchises and a few bonuses like Platinum Games and Zombie U on top.

Happy B-Day Mr.WiiU!

you are my sec fav console. just slightly behind your great grandfather Lord SNES.
If stubborn 3rd parties like Sega or Square finally decide to release their old games on your VC service, you will hit the number one spot.

Had one for about a year now. It's had its ups and downs and fair parts of drought but right now it's getting the most attention out of everything I own with MK8, Bayonetta 2 & Hyrule Warriors. Good console.

I don't have the serial or anything, just my NNID I used back then. Basically got it to play Monster Hunter, played, sold console, just recently bought a used one for cheap for Bayo and Smash. Am I fucked?

He's right about the one minute research, about your question, it's better if you have the system serial, but I've done it without one. Yes they transfer my id and I have my VC game back. I think they ask my birthday & email address for security reasons.

Hmm I actually just saw a similar post in another thread...

Bashed the system hardcore when it first was announced, it's the best purchase I have made for this generation. Great games, great release strategy, Nintendo has really made a lot of better business decisions than in the past...

Owned since launch. A few dry spells. My most played console. Gamepad feels fine holding and using. Battery life was short at times. I wish offscreen play had longer reach. Other then that the games have been great. MK8 is tooooo much fun!

It wasn't pretty at first, but now my Wii U is my most played console out of everything I have!

Happy birthday and may you have a line-up in 2016 that's just as strong as 2015.

Bought the system on launch, it has had the worst droughts of almost any console ever so far, which is bad considering that I was jumping in knowing that third party support wouldn't match the competitors. It's also a shame that they didn't capitalize on their year head start, when devs were still on last gen hardware. That year, Wii U owners missed out on games like Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite, and a bunch of other games. There's no reason that Nintendo couldn't have worked out deals with these developers to have their games on their system with stuff like exclusive Nintendo themed content or something to pull in the fans.

Despite all of this, I love the exclusives, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, Mario Kart, and Donkey Kong have been excellent experiences that can only be played on their system, but it sucks that we have to wait months and months for the next big release, when third party support could fix this issue.

So yeah, second year in and it doesn't looks like things will change, but the Nintendo exclusives make it worth it for me. :)

On the whole I've loved it. The major first-party releases have all lived up to their hype. It's had more than enough games to fit my time and budget even as my only console. Off-TV play has also been extraordinarily helpful to me.

If you never have to share your main TV; you primarily want a console for 3rd party experiences; and you have money and time to play tons of games but for some reason don't want multiple consoles - then Wii U might not be for you.

The first year of WiiU ownership was a bit rubbish but the system is starting to come into it's own now. I'm happier about the system now then at launch.

Loving the console. It brings my brother and I together late in the evening after work and homeworks, even though I'm more of an obsever than a player due to work+master, the games are pure joy and bring such warmness. Finally got to enjoy the great Bayonetta games. Can't wait for the new main Zelda entry!

had one since launch. love it. January - July 2013 was a little rough but since then it's been nothing short of masterful. it's like Nintendo's gift to their core audience.
