Happy 2nd Birthday Wii U!

Since getting mine last week I've been really really into it. I love having the gamepad especially when my wife is watching TV. Wind Waker HD is absolutely gorgeous, as well as Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, and ZombiU. Playing Wind Waker has me so fucking pumped for ZeldaU, and I've never been a huge Zelda fan. I've played almost all of the fantastic ones and WW ranks just under ALTTP. Anyway, very excited for the system's 'future'!

Feels like it was yesterday when I went to the store during afternoon break at school, picked up my Wii U and sat through a physics lesson with the box underneath my seat. Then, after finally getting home and waiting through the update (which took 2 hours and pissed me off more than it should have), I invited some friends over and we played Nintendo Land. We had an absolute blast.
Granted, this happened on the 30th as I live in Europe, but still... 2 years? Time sure flies. I'll make sure to play Smash Bros. with my friends to celebrate the second anniversary of the European launch. Maybe I'll throw in some Nintendo Land again, too.

I bought mine about a year ago, thinking that Zelda U, Xenoblade and (maybe) Metroid would eventually make it worth my money.

My first games were Batman Arkham City and ZombiU, and they made me love the gamepad instantly. I had so much fun with these games! I know Arkham City runs better on other platforms, but the Wii U version uses the gamepad in cool ways, I really like it.

I've bought many games since then: Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3, Hyrule Warriors... they are all great, really great. Last week, I installed Nintendont (thanks to a fellow gaffer who created a thread about it) and it felt so good to finally play F-Zero GX on it (I kept my old Wii around so I could play my GC disc, now I'm free to give the console as a birthday gift to a 14 year old cousin, I bet she'll love it).

Unless the next Nintendo console runs Wii U games, I think I'll never sell this beast. The library may be small, but it's filled with awesomeness, and playing on the gamepad is just perfect for me (I'm married and my wife can watch TV while I play beside her). I can't believe how much I like the Wii U, and we're still at least a year away from Zelda U, Xenoblade and a potencial Metroid game.

Bought mine around march this year. The first time I didn't buy a nintendo console near launch since the N64. The first year looked terrible gamewise. The first interesting game to me was wind waker, followed by 3D world.

Personally I used to be against the gamepad at first (there are multiple posts by me arguing nintendo should get rid of it) - but now I'm actually used to it and would love it if nintendo's next console supported it for off-tv play as an accessoire. It would also be a good will gesture to the current wiiU userbase.

Currently playing bayonetta, looking forward to smash, have captain toad on preorder. Looking really forward to Zelda and Xenoblade chronicles. A proper Fire Emblem, Metroid and something crazy alla 3D mega man would be on the top of my wishlist for the future.

I was going to buy a ps4 this summer/winter, but i don't feel the need for one at the moment, at least until bloodborne is released.

It's been a great holiday season for me personally. Bayonetta 2 is a GOTY contender, the Mario Kart 8 DLC has been fantastic and SSB4 & Captain Toad are going to be amazing. Also got around to finally beating Earthbound for the first time on VC yesterday so I have nothing but great things to say about the Wii U right now.

Love my Wii U! Got the NSMBU bundle last Cyber Monday for $250, and it's been my main console all year. I've put countless hours into it. I own like 10 retail titles + a ton of eshop stuff. Plus we get Smash in a few days!

Love it so much I made a quick WordPress blog over the Summer just to catalog a bunch of my Wii U screenshots. Check it out at nintendowiiupics.wordpress.com! :P

I bought my Wii U a year ago, the day Super Mario 3D World came out, I haven't been able to finish all the great games the system has.

I'm truly surprised by how good the Wii U has been for me, this year I played many games but Mario Kart 8, Bayo 2, and Tropical Freeze easily take the top 3.

Bought it on launch day here in Europe. Back then there were no scaling options, so I ended up playing Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U with a ton of overscan. Due to that fact alone, I ended up not touching the console for months on end.

In the meantime I've bought a new television, some of my favorite games ever are on the system (Pikmin 3, SM3DW and Tropical Freeze) and the future is looking bright. Though I will forever mock the GamePad, it already has conquered a place in my heart for being the most charming useless peripheral. I just wish they'd announce some high definition remakes of classic Gamecube or Wii games. Sure, I get that most people want new experiences, but a lot of these games are old enough to feel new if updated.

Oh, and I just love its loud disc drive. Wii U and me forever, baby.

The best console I've owned since the N64. Had it since launch and assumed it would be a good complimentary console to my PS4......It's been vice versa for the past few months and looks like that trend will continue into 2015.

Happy launch wii u guy here. Loved mine since launch and now it is even better! I have gathered a great library and still need to get some more games.

Still need Bayos, Hyrule, Deus Ex and the Batmans and Lego games, although I have the best one Lego City.

Happy 2nd birthday to Wii U!

Might have taken 2 years, but it really has become quite the amazing console. In a time where local multiplayer is basically dead on other consoles, the Wii U has really kept it alive.

Also, having it at college is awesome. Mario Kart, Smash Bros. 4, Mario 3D World, Sportsball, Nintendo Land, and tons more to play with others, with more in the pipeline to come.

The Wii U subreddit is pretty festive today too.

Got a new job in April, and snatched a new Wind Waker pack for 200 EUR. With this, the Mario Kart 8 Promo and all the payback from the digitial deluxe promotion, I sometimes feel like ripping off Nintendo. With an abundance of cheap Wii Games, and Wii U stuff frequently landing in the bomba bin, I have an amazing library now, and never payed more than 35 EUR per game (if you include the free games that came with the games). So thanks for being nice to cheap ass gamers like me, kinda said that the bombing is now about to end, and I am coming around to paying full price again... but it was totally worth jumping on board early!

Now waiting for that Link amiibo and my Hyrule Warriors spinner!

I've been on board for roughly 18 months. Probably would have been fine waiting another six months, but this past year has been ridiculous in terms of quality games.

I just looked last night, I own over 30 indie games for WiiU, 9 SNES, 7 NES, 7 GBA, and ~22 retail titles(digital and physical) rough guessing here. That doesn't include stuff I sold off as well.

That is more gaming than I will ever need, and it had been a great investment.

My kids love playing it watching, and my wife enjoys a lot of the games too. The Prime and Netflix apps are great too with the gamepad.

This doesn't mean the system is perfect, far from it, but it is an awesome little Nintendo box and I have got more than my money's worth out of it.

Is it weird to say that this will probably end up being my favorite Nintendo console? Been playing since the NES days but Nintendo and HD just feels so right to me.

I said in another thread that when all is said and done, this will probably be the best Nintendo console since SNES. So many good games out now with plenty more to come in the next year.

Gamepad is the bees knees. Such a great system. Next machine to have a gamepad you can take with you as a portable would be great.

This is the direction that Nintendo needs to go.

Imagine a console/portable hybrid with the lineup of both the Wii-U and the 3DS.

Really wanted to play Mario Kart 8, but couldn't justify buying a system just for it (while being uncertain of its future). Waited for E3 and was blown away by the upcoming games. (mainly Splatoon and Devil's Third). Bought MK8 (w/ free Wind Waker), Bayonetta 2, have Smash preordered, and will probably pick up DK: TF by the end of this year. I've never played a Donkey Kong game but the high praise is hard to ignore.

Also....Captain Toad will rise

EDIT: Also I love the gamepad. Don't really use the off screen play, but I love the dualscreen play on my 3DS XL and it's no different here. It's also very comfortable in my hands. Awesome sticks and triggers.

yeah I agree. the amount of truly exceptional games on the console is kind of astounding.

Happy b-day, you silly machine! I play mine mostly for Wii games, but I can't wait to get my hands on Xenoblade Chronicles X and Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem!

Feels much more like the awesome GameCube days. Ton of amazing core Nintendo titles with a few standout 3rd party titles. MH3U is my PSO. TTT2 with costumes is my SCII. Stuff like that. :p

My current top 5 on the system:

5. The Wonderful 101
4. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD
3. Super Mario 3D World
2. Bayonetta

Happy B-Day!
Its the only console I own, and I'm really happy with it. Still hope to see a port of MH4U on it, but if it doesnt come, its ok.

What good indie games do Wii U have which is not available on other platforms besides Stealth Inc 2?

Why does it matter if they are available on other platforms?

They support off-tv play, so that automatically makes the Wii-U the best version.

Picked one up recently with MK8, 3D World, NintendoLand, Wonderful 101 and the Bayonettas. Going to get Smash and Tropical Freeze soon, too. Great library.

Just got mine two weeks ago and couldn't be happier. Greatest system I've had in a long time.

Bought mine day one, zero regrets. Right up there with the N64 and OG Xbox as one of my favorite consoles ever, if not THE favorite. The nine month drought post-launch was really rough, but from August 2013 onwards it's been nothing but hit after hit. Here's hoping for another 3-4 years of great games.

I loved the system since I bought the windwaker bundle last year but now it's really coming into its own. Despite the lack of third party the Wii u manages to have an extremely solid library. I'm definitely having more fun with it than I had with the wii. Nintendo is putting out some of the best first party stuff we've seen from them in a long time. Can't wait till smash.
And if they stay true to the current release schedule 2015 is gonna be insane

I have finished (not 100%, who 100% games these days):

NSMBU
NSLU (great standalone DLC)
Lego City
SM3DW
DKC TF (favorite game on Wii U)
AC 3 (this game starts slow but it was my first AC so I don´t get the hate, I liked it)
CoD BOs 2

Playing:
W101 and Zelda WW HD with some MK8 here and there

To finish:
Pikmin 3, ZombiU (too scared, lol), Splinter Cell BL, MK8, Rayman Legends and Darksiders 2. I need to play more NintendoLand, great game but no time and so many games to finish.

To get: Bayo/Bayo2, Deus Ex, Batman AC and AO, Hyrule Warriors, Lego Marvel, Lego The Movie, NFSMWU, ME3.

Note: For some people not getting into Wii U because it is underpowered, most first party games look great and are 60fps if not solid 30fps, even most 3rd party games are solid 30, like Deus Ex, Batman AO, NFSMWU, ZombiU, Splinter Cell BL, Rayman Legends (1080p60), Mass Effect 3, AC 3. If you don´t mind 720p and aliasing in some games you are ok, for me games look amazing and I have a PS4.

I have a Wii U from day 1 also a gamer PC, Right now it's all i need. The games are what make a console great, and the Wii U is becoming step by step one of the giants.

What good indie games do Wii U have which is not available on other platforms besides Stealth Inc 2?

Off the top of my head, Shovel Knight, Bit Trip Runner 2, Unepic, Toki Tori 1+2, Cubemen 2, Colour Zen, Armillo.

There's a few others but those are the ones I have (except Toki 2 and Cubemen - but I might pick em up someday).

Plenty coming too, Affordable Space Adventures looks right up my street.

What good indie games do Wii U have which is not available on other platforms besides Stealth Inc 2?

Scram Kitty!

there are probably others but I really don't want to comb my brain to see if they fit in with your criteria. why not just enjoy? shovel knight surely isn't any less of a great game because it's on steam, for instance.

What good indie games do Wii U have which is not available on other platforms besides Stealth Inc 2?

Not indie per say, but Pushmo World and both Nes Remix titles are solid from Nintendo as downloads.

PS: Most indie titles on all platforms are on other things. Just get it on your preferred device. :P

I finally got one last week and set it up last night. Great fun was had after it finished updating.

I also installed Plex on my PC and tried streaming video. It worked great. It's a shame the Wii U doesn't have a media player, but in the end I think using Plex to stream is a better solution.

Great little console. The first party output is fantastic and the third party games (as few and far between as they are) that are tailored for console's strengths (Deus Ex, ZombiU, Arkham City AE) are great as well.

Not to mention the deluge of quality indie titles that the system has seen in the last few months.
