Happy 2nd Birthday Wii U!

Even if I play more on PS4, my Wii U offered me the best "exclusive" experience by far. A shame that Nintendo cannot position themselves as a "third party" darling anymore, so many bad marketing and technical decisions.

Still I love the machine and do not regret the purchase at all.

My first midnight launch ever.

Great system -- for Nintendo games. I still wish other titles would take advantage of the pad like ZombiU did.

What good indie games do Wii U have which is not available on other platforms besides Stealth Inc 2?

In terms of exclusives...Scram Kitty, Armillo, Shovel Knight, Sportsball, Art of Balance, Ping 1.5+, X Type+ and Nintendo's stuff like Pushmo and NES Remix. And yeah, Stealth Inc 2 for the time being.

In terms of console exclusives (available on PC but not Ps4/X1) - Unepic, Rush, EDGE, Toki Tori 2+, Abyss, The Fall, Cosmophony, Ittle Dew, Squids Odyssey, Shuttle Rush, Tengami, Tetrobot and Co., Paper Monsters Recut, Cubemen 2, Frederic: Resurrection of Music...a good bit more too.

Absolutely! So many great indie games to choose from and what seems like many more to come. Heck, my eShop download folder on Wii U is almost full because of this.

I got my Wii U less than a month ago, and it was so worth the $269.99 (no tax, free shipping) of a sale. I really like the tablet controller and the fact that it has off-screen play, although that brings up a point that I've wanted to make on the controller, that if there is off-screen play, it's going to be constantly streaming the game to the controller and taking up the battery of the controller. I figured there would be a button to enable off-screen play when you wanted to, but aside from that, they play flawlessly.

I was also looking at this console the most when this generation finally started, and I instantly knew I was going to get it because of the lack of real exclusives from the other platforms. Nothing from the other 2 consoles are enticing, except for KH3/FFXV.

The worst selling system with the my favorite games. Great console, I'm glad Nintendo continues to support it despite it's sales problems.

I bought the Wii U this past spring for around $200 or so on eBay and its been one of the best purchases ever. Great selection of games and I've been having a blast with it.

Got mine at a midnight launch. Had a bit of a rocky start, but it is easily my favorite home console right now. Love the Virtual Console and the gamepad has been used many times while I have something else on the TV.

New Super Mario U (and Luigi)
Wind Waker HD
Bayonetta 1&2
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Mario 3D World
Donkey Kong TF
Mario Kart 8
NES Remix 1&2
Pikmin 3

Yeah, stuff like this is why I play games. Happy Birthday you wonderful game machine!

Yay, I bought it at launch :)

It has great first party games but I have largely ignored most of the crap 3rd parties put out on it.

I got my Wii U on launch day and 15 retail games plus as many eShop/VC games later I love the system.

There are still some games I havent had a chance to get to, not to mention Smash this week, Toad next month, and a 2015 that hopefully includes Splatoon, Yoshi, Xenoblade X, and the one thing I am most hyped about in the world right now - Zelda U.

Keep up the good work Wii U.

I stood in line on launch morning (lol) to get my hands on the Wii U. I had basically stopped gaming for the previous decade or so, but I was dazzled by the prospect of some of my old favourite Nintendo franchises in high definition. I thought it would be the perfect environment for my son to develop as a gamer, and to acquire a taste for high quality games that don't rely on violence or adult themes to sell their gameplay.

My son and I have had such great times with this console, from playing the heck out of the Nintendo Land attractions in the early days (and again more recently, Metroid Blast is so good!) to being charmed by the wonderful story and atmosphere of Earthbound and Pikmin 3, to smashing our way through the Kamiya hypefest that is The Wonderful 101, and more recently Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors. He's fallen in love with Smash Bros on his 3DS and we are both extremely excited to get our hands on the Wii U version. 2015 and beyond promise some amazing games too, obviously.

There were some droughts in the early days to be sure, but after the release schedule picked up steam there have been more games than I have time to play. Bayonetta 1 and 2 are amazing, there is so much great stuff on the eShop between VC and indie games... All in all the Wii U has given me and my family everything I could have hoped for and more. It's become my favourite console ever, in large part because of all the memorable experiences we've shared on it.

jk, can't wait to open up my Wii U on christmas!

Clicked the thread for this. Would've just posted the last panel, though. ;)

The Wii U is going to make a great gift this holiday season. Plenty of heavy hitters available now and a few more on the way (that we know of).

Happy birthday to my favorite currently active console. I've had good times on it, and the future looks very bright, indeed.

Console could end up being one of my favorites of all time if Nintendo does HD Metroid. So far it's up there for me with the Gamecube as my favorite 3d Nintendo console.

Shovel Knight is on PC. it belongs in the second list.

Unlike a lot of people, I adore the texture of the console and gamepad, fingerprints and all. The library is and will be filled with creative games not offered by the PS4 and XB1. I was much more hyped for the PS4 in the past, but Nintendo's output has been absolutely stellar and I'm very glad I bought the Wii U instead (will still pick up a PS4, but much later). Off-TV play is helpful as is the second screen. The Pro Controller is also fantastic: light, long-lived, and the perfect size for my hands. Happy birthday, Wii U!

It was a rough start , but I'm really happy with it now. I'm just about caught up on all the retail titles I want, but I'm a bit behind on eshop only games. I hope this thing lasts for a few more years.

Great console with great games. The gamepad streaming tech is extremely impressive, being able to deliver 60fps with two frames of latency according to DF. This puts it quite a bit ahead of most HDTVs - wirelessly!

Hopefully Nintendo will integrate this technology into their next console(s).

This is not a good console, in my opinion. It's barebones to the highest degree in the modern console age and it feels like it would have been pretty barebones even last gen. It has two redeeming factors to me, and that is the controller with a screen, and Quick Start.

But the games...

Make it all worth it.

I got one during the Walmart $59 rush and set it all up and I'm not a fan of the system. The operating system is bad and clunky to navigate through and the touchpad controller cramps my hands to hold. The screen also has a yellowish tint to it. At this point I feel like I should sell it. If i buy one of those pro controllers, does it work with every game? Nintendo makes great games, but this hardware sucks.

Pro controller works with almost every single game, only exceptions that use the gamepad heavily thata I can think of are ZombiU and Lego City Undercover.

Give some games a try and that may change your perception of the console.

But if you feel like feeling it you can make some nice bank out of it =P.

I picked mine off of craigslist about 8 months ago. Came with New super Mario and ZombieU. Cool games but it didn't grab me until Mario 3D world came out. Played the heck out of that and then jumped into Mario Kart. Now I cant put Pikmin 3 down! So many more games for me to grab cheap too!

Gotta love those Nintendo games, and smash is just around the corner.

Here to 3 years more!
2015 Wii U's 1st party lineup is impressive on the paper. 2016 could be just as good with Metroid Prime, Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing, 1080/Excite truck/F-zero/Wave race, Mario Strikers, Golf, Tennis, Pilotwings, Mario Galaxy 3, etc.

Let's hope they'll revisit most of their franchises in coming years, as well as offering some surprises like Splatoon.

Because HD Nintendo is best Nintendo. They don't sell as much as they used to, while being at the top of their game. I want more of it.

Love the system; I'm much happier with it than I was with the Wii. Best current gen exclusive lineup atm and the upcoming stuff only solidifies that for me. It did have a rough start, which I experienced firsthand as I got one the Christmas after launch, but it's come a long way. Happy Birthday Wii U :)

This console had two very good first years. Even if there aren't many games, quality is here. I simply hope that Nintendo will keep it alive for at least 3 more years, so we can witness its true potential.

Try turning off power saving mode in the controller settings. That should fix the yellow tint.

hmmm.

As clunky as the OS may be navigating is a breeze, your just hitting on tiles. 3rd party games are fading faster than Bill Cosby

, the online community for Mario Kart is great. The overall library of 1st party games and content is top notch.

That being said it won't be everybodies cup of tea. If it's not for you just sell it bro.

Just got mine a couple days ago
3 guesses where I got it
and haven't had a chance to play it yet. Got it all hooked up and updated so I'll probably give it a go tonight. Definitely looking forward to getting games like zombie u and RE revelations.

Happy b-day, we've only just begun.

Thanks. I might try to get one of those controllers. Are there any sells going on them?

Thanks for the tip.

I tried a few of the games earlier as demos and I love the little details and cute stuff Nintendo puts in titles like 3D World. On the other hand I could sell this and pretty much get a Xbox One for free or close to it on Black Friday if you factor in the Target gift card.

I bought a Wii U at launch, but I returned it because I realized there was nothing to play on it.

I bought one again last year when Mario 3D World, Wind Waker HD, and Wonderful 101 were out. Fucking loved it, and I still do. It's turned me into a complete Nintendo fanboy again, like when I was 6. That's pretty cool.

Hopefully, this thing'll have at least a couple more birthdays.

Went from an underdog with questionable potential to the underdog with handsdown the best current offering on the market.

At this point, it really deserves to be doing way, way better than it is on the market.
