Who even likes the first Street Fighter game? It's garbage. The series starts with Street Fighter II as far as I'm concerned.

Happy Birthday best fighting series ever made.

I remember playing street fight 2 in the arcades as a kid and was hooked from day 1. I later had it on my SNES (the hyper super dooper etc version) which was amazing.

I think I had SF2 on my Amiga as well. I remember finding street fighter 1 in a bargin bin as well and buying it. While it was positively terrible in comparison to SF2 but it was cool seeing where it came from.

While its overly popular my fav character was always Ryu. He was so well balanced (so was Ken)

I also loved Blanka, E honda, chun li and guile from the original game.

Later ones (the first 3D one) has some great characters like Skullomania that was just amusing to play as.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

best fighting series ever... i started on world warior
i have never seen 1 in real life but after seeing it later on, its amazing how it turned out to be

best sequel in the history of time... 3rd strike, alpha 2, ssf2t were my favourites but ive liked so many varients it doesnt matter

big part of my favourite gaming experiences...much respect capcom

I think it's more liking the cast and that those that like them have ideas on how they would play in a modern fighter than liking the game @3@

Oh my... I just realised how bad a port the Amiga version was of the first street fighter 1 that I bought.

If you only played street fighter 1 on the Arcade check what I played out

And you thought the arcade one was poor.

When i got it as a kid I had never seen the first one in the arcades so until a few mins ago I thought it was as shite as this version.

Posted this here but reposting for everyone:

UDON is releasing their street fighter comic as a webcomic 5 days a week:

Page one starts here, they're up to page 25+ now:
http://streetfightercomics.com/issue/0/page/1

The series started about a decade ago as a printed comic, but the early issues are harder to find these days. The printed series is now complete and done with and can be bought in collected editions.

I think this is a great idea: generate interest in the series again by switching to webcomic. I don't think any other company has done this release-all-the-early-stuff-as-webcomic approach before. I support it, because if this DOES generate interest, hopefully it'll motivate them to restart a new series (Street fighter 4 or 3, either would be cool).

The series goes back and forth in time, incorporating pre-game stuff like Chun-Li's detective father, Dan's father and how he relates to Sagat, or Sagat and Ryu's first "Street Fighter 1" battle:

The series has various artists of varying quality, and the writing really bends over backwards sometimes to accommodate the inherent ridiculousness of fighting game stories, but overall it does a great job of making Street Figther's storyline actually work.

If you haven't read this, start reading the webcomic now. It's a lot of fun if you accept the plot contrivances that an international fighting game requires (it's a bit like a James Bond plot, in a way).

I'd love to hear people's opinions if they've never read the series and are going to follow it now.

I remember the first game on the C64, what a piece of crap that was. But Street Fighter II was glorious. I played so much of Super Street Fighter II on the SNES.

Happy Bday Street Hitter.

Some of the best character design in the industry.

CRUSH! KILL! DIE! and MISSION COMPRETE for life!

Happy Birthday SF!!!

Chun-Li forever!!!

Since SF2 till SF4 (lol doesn't sound like many games in between :P) those lightning and spinning bird kicks lead me to victory. <3

Love SF3, Alpha and the EX series....hate everything else Alpha/EX 4 and a REAL SF4 please Capcom!

So GAF, post your fav. SF character(s) from each series/era:

I have no great affection for 2. Cammy's just 1 of my favorite fighting game characters ever. She's my 1st choice every time, but I'll include my ranking and favorite new introduction.

The military martial arts base, fighting style, play style, versatility, personality, art, and music are all top-notch and give me no reason to switch.
