Has a game ever made you cry?

MGS 4 made me tear up a bit

ABMORG8.gif

I played To The Moon in one sitting late one night and it completely and utterly devastated me.

edit: oh and I let out a few tears during the ending of MGS3.

Yes, several, but it usually has more to do with the music than the actual events transpiring in the game itself.

I am mostly dead inside, but music still affects me.

Suikoden 2
when Nanami gets shot
caught me off-guard and made me watery when I played it as a teen. I also didn't know about the true ending, so it was definitely a melancholy game for me.

The Last of Us winter scene still gets me.

Kingdom Hearts 2 gets me a little teary when Roxas has to end his summer vacation :(

Sounds about right. That game wrecked me as well.

Like part of me thinks it's the game itself, but I think it connected with me and some of my own personal feelings about love and relationships that made me think a lot about myself and what I'm doing with my life.

Devil May Cry 2....Infected Tank?...I waited what felt like so long for that hunk of junk...

But seriously, Shadow of the Colossus.

Call of Duty, taking back the Red Square was the first time I cried playing a video game. The setup, music and "for Mother Russia" just killed me.

Not that level (although that one is emotional).

I mean "You're the Inspiration".

Then again (spoilers for sad)
The first time I played that level was a week after my father died. Talk about terrible timing.

Oh, completely forgot about that one. Yeah, you're right.

I finished Life Is Strange last night and I was choked up
at the final decision of the game. I just had to save Arcadia Bay
and the ending ruined me. I must admit I was teary-eyed. This is so rare for me as even the most emotionally draining movies haven't moved me the way Life Is Strange did.
It must be because you decide the ending, not the director

I was going to post this but you took care of it. I posted this in the OT but when the
pictures of your friendship are burning up
it hit me super hard.

Edit: Journey is a good one too. I had a singular friend the ENTIRE game and I lost him during the snow climb. My then girlfriend and I were so sad that he was gone.

The end of MGS3 came close. Nothing else I can think of off the top of my he though... Maybe Dark Souls when it first came out on the PC, but for a very different reason. Thank god for modders.

Octodad. Not kidding.

Must be a dad yourself if that goofy game affected you.

MGS3 ending made me a little teary eyed. Granted I was like 15 at the time, still like the game but I wouldn't be the same if I played it for the first time now.

The GBA port of Lunar made me cry. I was even younger than, probably around 12. I can't remember anything about the story other than there's a cat that turns into a dragon and one of your friends betrays you at some point. Neither of those were what made me cry, it was something at the end of the game.

It didn't make me cry but the game that's made the strongest lasting impression on me is Shadow of the Colossus. I held on to the stairs at the end until my grip ran out. That moment was great, you feel so sympathetic for the character and so hopeless.

Brothers: a tale of two sons

Two particular scenes made me stop playing so I could calm down

This one got me as well. Good stuff. Other than that, I can't think of any games that made my eyes water.

Other than WoW after being stuck on a raid boss for 4 hours with people making the same mistakes over and over

Fire Emblem Awakening -
When Chrom finds out that Marth is Lucina. "You deserve better from me than one sword in a world full of trouble."
I just watched the YouTube video of it and I couldn't make it through without crying.

The Last of Us - Joel. Ellie.
Ranch House.
I couldn't handle it.

Life Is Strange - EVERYTHING.

I can't recall an instance of actually crying during a game, though I've definitely gotten teary eyed, and have been emotionally affected by a lot. Possibly the end of the Walking Dead season 1?

The only thing I can explicitly recall is listening to Radical Dreamers, the ending song of Chrono Cross one day and I did start crying a bit. It's a really emotional song, and Chrono Cross is my favorite game of all time, so it just hit me out of the blue one day.

Cool story - i finished Shadow of the Colossus or the first time 9 years ago (jesus) and thought it was a masterpiece, but didn't cry.

I quickly finished it again, and the ending touched me even more with just how poignant it was. It's not a particularly powerful or dramatic ending- it's just elegant, simple and beautiful. My eyes watered up a bit.

Over the next few years i would complete the game a further 5 times - and every single time i watched the last sequence I would cry more and more, until i was bare-faced sobbing sitting on my couch.

That's art.

Octodad. Not kidding.

You're going to have to explain that one.

To the moon, my first docking in ksp and the walking dead season 1.

Uh, and the main title of xenoblade chronicles (after I beat the game).

Closest I came was the dog getting impaled in the walking dead season 2 premiere. I love dogs so much and the whining noise it makes when slowly dying :(

The Last of Us prologue.

I remember playing TLOU for the first time when my dad was in the room. He's never been interested in games so he didn't pay it any mind. As the prologue went on he started to pay more and more attention and then by the end of it I looked across at him hiding his face behind a newspaper. He then said something along the lines of 'Oh... That's quite sad... I need to go now...'. That game managed to make someone who doesn't care about the medium at all pretty emotional. Great game.

Also Journey made me cry like a child. Can't even explain why.

Last of Us ending, pretty much any time. The last few seconds of that game are so very powerful.
Didn't expect it, but the
saving Arcadia Bay ending
for Life is Strange also got me.
Got pretty close during the Ori intro

Closest I came was the dog getting impaled in the walking dead season 2 premiere. I love dogs so much and the whining noise it makes when slowly dying :(

I can't handle dogs dying, I really can't. Not in tv, not in games. Even when a dumb show like Bates Motel does it, it hurts

Almost.

Fatal Frame. I reached the last part but it wouldn't load because there was a scratch on the disc. I ended up finding a cheap copy a few years later, but I never finished it.

The end of the walking dead season 1 worked me over something fierce. Holy shit that ending dude, it wasn't even just misty eyed, it was legit crying like a grown ass man-baby. It took me like 30 minutes to compose myself.

I don't think I cried, but I was like "Damn." at one part in BioShock because I had been harvesting little sisters the whole game.

Not yet, but the closest so far was Rin's Route in Katawa Shoujo. It's a complete emotional beatdown, surprised I didn't cry really.
