Manga is much more popular and much easier to produce than animation. It's the same problem cartoons have vs comics in the US. Even though they faced similar problems (with censorship) in their early days, comics are much more versatile, simply because the medium allows them to be.
Oh, I understand that. What I meant was I don't get why firehawk would imply manga is pigeonholed when the reality of it is there's truly something for everyone on offer because - at least in Japan - it's so culturally ubiquitous.
