Has any PS4/XB1 game really blown you away?

Ryse (graphically).

NBA 2K14 (graphically).

Titanfall (calling a Titan, seeing it drop, and then getting into it for the first time was amazing to me).

Forza Horizon 2 (graphically; especially for it to be an open world game).

Sunset Overdrive (art style; love the onomatopoeia integration)

Call of Duty: AW single player (got so used to the way COD looked on last gen).

...Nothing else so far really.

TLoU Remastered (Lovely smooth and shiny, being able to play with headphones on really increased the experience as well)
MGS: GZ (Same as above)
AC IV: Black Flag (Good draw distance as well as looking beautiful and a nice frame rate)

im expecting the new god of war to blow my socks off - like god of war 3 did to me for ps3.

it was my first ps3 game and my first god of war. gat dayam!

Forza Horizon cause it really is a masterpiece in my eyes. Really clean game and well done. Kudos to Playground and T10 for the work on the engine

I would also add Sunset Overdrive because the game really is also well done in my eyes. I like how each part of the world is different and the story is pretty funny

Oh this might be weird but PvZ Garden Warfare. I think the maps are incredibly well made. Good job PopCap. Kudos to you too

NBA 2k14, zoom into Hardens face, the pores, lines, that beard, the sweat, lightning, the details :O

I suppose 2K15 looks spectacular too, haven't gotten it yet, but yeah that was my first "Holy sheeeeeeee" moment.

Do you mean graphically or gameplay?

Graphically, Ryse - holy cow.

Gameplay - everything nowdays is refinements of what's been before. Perhaps Sunset Overdrive as massive breath of fresh air - but it's not "Halo level" in terms of changing expectations.

Both really, all those games I mentioned really were awesome jumps in visuals and gameplay for me.

Infamous: Second Son and Killzone are two of the best-looking games I've ever seen. Especially Infamous.

Ryse and Driveclub are also up there. And Sunset Overdrive on a lesser (But still impressive) scale.

This generation is off to a fantastic start.

I swear we have this thread more often than usual lately but ill copy my old answer cause its still the same:

1) Battlefield 4 - Watching that ship breach on the shore while I was on a jet ski next to it had my jaw on the ground.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbVMAfIOAOc

2) P.T - Going into that game completely blind and not realizing what it was for and the scares, and realization of what it was is a masterful moment I will cherish forever.

Killzone SF, in terms of sheer eye candy. I remember thinking "Yep, this is definitely new gen all right." Same with Infamous SS, but the game was over so fast it barely had any time to sink in.

Assassin's Creed Unity, I regularly stop and just marvel at it. The lighting is amazing, going into dark interiors and seeing the sunlight coming in through doorways and windows. Never seen anything like it in a game. Shame it's gotten lost in all the controversy and Ubisoft shitfuckery.

P.T. for the experience.
Transistor for the atmosphere.
Resogun for the voxels.
Dead Rising 3 for the crowd.

Graphic wise, lots of games has wowed me for a second but failed to be consistent.
Advance Warfare's MP graphics has wowed me in the sense that "wow, this is bad."

P.T. gave me that next gen feel. Great graphics, sounds, uses the next gen controller elements and amazing direction.

P.S. - Second Son looks great.

Nope. Just prettier versions of last gens games and gameplay.

Oculus Rift however...

There you go. Easily my most anticipated tech, and the only thing that's felt truly "next-gen" to me. Looking forward to the Rift and to Morpheus probably more than anything else right now.

Besides Smash.

Not really anything has blown me away yet, but that may be because I've also been a PC gamer for quite along time. I thought Infamous looked pretty good for a bit, sadly the actual game portion of that kept me from being blown away by it.

Is that when explosions spell out "BOOM" and what not?
I love that.

Only TLOU (for the second time). It was almost like a completely new experience playing it at 1080p/60fps.

Second Son's graphics, particle effects and overall visual package were super impressive too.

Graphically? Yes absolutely. Resogun, Tomb Raider remaster, and Second Son in the early days... Ground Zeroes, Driveclub and AC:Unity in recent months...

Gameplay? Nope, same ol' stuff as before.

Infamous: SS. Amazing, just amazing visuals. Love this game.

After that, TLOU: Remastered. It looks beautiful. My gf thought I was watching a movie, when I first started playing it.

Also, a shout out to Sunset Overdrive. It has original art style, but it didn't "blow" me away.

These are my current-gen picks that I've played so far...

First Light - We finally have the Flash game I've always dreamed about.

Sunset Overdrive - simply incredible. Traversal, the city, the weapons, the humour, the characters, the writing. It's off the charts amazing. What really blew me away was how much it reminded me of JSR and that Insomniac had nailed the mechanics so perfectly that Sega should just give the JSR licence.

D4. Fantastic writing, well realised characters, very funny, perfect Kinect controls, is the superior way to tell a story using the old P'n'C method of gameplay that Telltales keep botching.

Nope. Everything I've played on PS4 has made me think "Pretty-ish graphics but dull gameplay". Driveclub probably illustrates this perfectly. So no 'wow' from me.

I thought I wanted better hardware and higher resolutions, but now I realise I just wanted better games. Even The Last of Us Remastered was a huge disappointment to me, far too cut-scene heavy and the gameplay is just completely lacking in the 'fun' department - I don't get the hype at all, and this is coming from someone who loved Uncharted 1/2 (but hated 3 for similar reasons). And Infamous SS was just more of the same dull teen-oriented open-world "do this, press this button, then do that and go there and blah blah" shit SP put out last generation, but with prettier graphics. And don't get me started on Killzone and Knack.

All this excludes Wolfenstein. Which made me think "60fps and awesome". More Wolfenstein please.

Still, soon there is LBP3. And judging by the reviews, that should just about save an otherwise atrocious first year with PS4.

Regardless, I'm tempted to go and buy a PS2 on eBay and play some decent games again.

NBA 2K14 (I haven't played 2K15 yet but this is the best looking sports game to date)
Infamous SS (graphically impressive plus I absolutely love this series)
Ryse (the best looking launch game)
Titanfall (nothing compares to it gameplay wise)
FH2 (absolute bliss)
SO (love the satire and wacky sense of humor)
ACU

The anti-hype makes it cool to hate, but for me it's Destiny all the way. It has been an amazing ride and I love every minute of it.

I think Battlefield 4 on PS4 is the most impressive for me so far, coming from 360. I was always curious on the run up to see how it held up on next-gen hardware compared to the PC footage they were already showing. That day when they first let footage loose of it running on next-gen hardware was a good day, really happy and surprised by the visuals virtually looking the same as PC. That, plus 64 players and at 60fps? It really feels like a next-gen game.

Not that I have many games for my Xbone, but in terms of sheer fun gameplay, Titanfall is the game that has captured me almost as much as COD 4 did on the 360.

In terms of graphics, no game I have for the Xbone has really wowed me as being much better than what I had with the 360 (I only have or have had COD Ghosts, AC IV, BF4, Forza 5, Titanfall, Destiny, and Halo MCC).

Looking at Shadow of Mordor, Sunset Overdrive, Dragon Age (and I don't really dig RPG's much), Far Cry 4, and even COD AW. However, there isn't anything that is really making me want to go out and pick it up right now.

Next year, though... Batman Arkham Knight is the one that I truly am looking forward to. Halo 5 if the beta is actually as good as it looks (fingers crossed)

Yup, Second Son. I wouldn't tell anyone to buy a console because of it, but I'd tell someone who bought a console "dude, you HAVE to play this".

Edit: oh and I guess Black Flag if that counts. I played it on PC through my TV but I'm guessing settings max at 30 fps would be comparable to the console versions.

ATM, my PS4 havent blow me away, except maybe for a better version of Diablo 3, which i am currently playing. Knack is good, Infamous is good, Driveclub i got tired after 3 days, Lords of the Fallen have strange framerate and vsync problem, Killzone disappoint me,NHL 15 is good looking but feel bad, and got no interest in trying COD:AW or Assassins creed. Was about to get LBP3, but after theses bad reviews, not too sure now.Got Last of Us with my ps4 in blundle, but played it for l,ike 2 hours, because, well, i already beat it on ps3... There is GTAV , but again, its a remake, repay, replay game... Was a X1 previews owner, and after beating Ryse, well i was enjoying a lot of Forza 5, and probably would have enjoy a bit Sunset Overdrive, but would feel the same way.

Well in march there is Bloodborne and Project Cars, two game i hope that wont disappoint me.

If you want my honest opinion, im not fully into this new current gen era . Deep Down better deliver, its probably one of the title i am the most hyped at. Maybe getting too old or just tired of the constant same type of games coming out (cod, assassins creed every year).

Right now atm, im trying on my PC a turn based strategy XCOM Enemy within, and im very into it.

But again, NO, current gen is not wowing me atm.
