Has this generation of consoles met your expectations?

Dark Souls saved it for me. I think it justified this gen's tech and it's relevancy. With every gen there's a game I look back and say whoa, this game defined that gen. Well Dark Souls is that game for me for this current gen.

the most impressive aspect to me of the game is the seamless world, everything is connected and not in a random sense the transitions are AMAZING and better yet no loadtimes. From really struck gold with this game (haven't played DeSouls yet but I will). that's not even mentioning the fantastic implementation of the online aspect, it's really a work of a bunch of geniuses.

360:
Got this badboy on launch day. This system met my expectations and beyond. Graphics wise, I was blown away literally by Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Dead or Alive 4. Excellent backward compatibility. Awesome Xbox Live stability. Great interface. Great game library... The only thing bad about it was RROD issues. I kid you not, each and every 360 I've ever owned RROD'd after about only a year or so of ownership. Moved onto PS3 after my 5th 360 died on me. Still thinking about jumping back with 360 slim, but we'll see.

PS3:
Got this with the money I got from Bestbuy's 360 Product Replacement Plan. Graphics are a little better than 360, but nothing that would blow my socks off. For some reason, its exclusives aren't as fun as the 360's. Online stability is pretty bad, that's why it's free (durrr). An okay interface. Not great. Today I have 27 PS3 games and I dont really play them much. Anyone want them?

Wii:
Played Mario Galaxy for a few hours. I forgot where the system went.

Overall: Yes this generation has pretty much met my expectation and much more. I'm very impressed by how all 3 companies stepped up to the plate on online multiplayer gaming. This helped me to not care too much about upgrading my PC since I now prefer gaming while sitting back comfortably in my couch. Also, who would've thought that XBOX could outsell Playstation? DAMN.

No. The industry is really floundering right now, stuck in the biggest rut I have yet to see. Japan's software slip-ups, the ever-present FPS, and most importantly... NO RISKS.

I think that in some ways, it's games that take risks or do something unexpected that really draw me in. And there wasn't enough of any of that from ANY platform. Everything was too damn safe.
