Have BotW reviews changed your mind about the Switch?

Nope. I'm already lukewarm on Zelda games at best-- transforming The Legend of Zelda into a love letter to Skyrim is an absolute "no way" for me.

If anything, the reviews reinforce my decision to stay away from Switch until Zelda isn't the only big thing on it. Maybe for the holidays, or tax time next year.

No. This wouldn't be the first Zelda game to get good review scores only to ultimately turn out to be a big pile of poo. I made that mistake before. Not doing it again.

No. I'll be picking Zelda up on WiiU. At this point in time, the Switch is a terrible console.

Yeah, that kinda deflates the Switch part of the equation. You don't need a Switch, and I expect most people will be more than happy to play on a Wii U.

Not really, I was hoping to buy one down the line once there were more games and maybe a price drop, and that's still pretty much the plan but now I actually feel like I'm missing out so the wait is going to be harder and I'll probably be more eager to buy it.

Friend codes ruined any positivity about the Switch Zelda might have added

my eyes are rolling so uncontrollably I might have a stroke

have you at all looked beyond the raw numbers to actually read and listen to what so many critics, people who have mostly been playing games for decades, are saying? This is a paradigm shift

I had preordered both the console and game already, though I wasn't confident about my purchase until I saw the reviews this morning. I'm incredibly excited now!

Unfortunately not. I never really played any Zelda games since Zelda:LTTP, so its not a serie thats near and dear to me. I havepretty strong nostlagic memories regarding Zelda 2 though :)

I must admit that i was feeling a bit hype for Zelda:BOTW before i saw the review scores, and i'm actually surprised to see so many perfect scores (not because of the game, but because its quite unusual), but even so, it hasnt changed my plans regarding a Switch purchase.

Nope, I am sure that Nintendo hoped the moneyhatted Famitsu score would improve Swith's reception, but astute gamers are far too smart to fall for that sort of trick.

I don't see why Breath of the Wild would change the minds of many previously uninterested in the Switch since it's available on the Wii U. It'd be one thing if it were exclusive, but it's not, and apparently the difference in performance between the two versions isn't a deal breaker anyways.

Theres an over abundance of No's in here. If a greatly reviewed game like BotW can't sway a 'hardcore' gaming crowd they're shit out of luck pulling in anyone outside the Nintendo loyal fanbase yet again.

No because I have a Wii U. If that wasn't the case I would be pretty jealous of those who can play it because the pricing of various Swtich things is what holds me back for the time being. Looking forward to a price drop or revision console down the line. In 2 years hopefully.

Friend codes. Life over.

I don't post on NeoGAF very often, but from what I've seen I'm pretty sure any reasonable person's eyeballs would be firmly at the back of their skull after reading all the incessant nitpicking on a daily basis.

Nope, it's still only one game. Could be the greatest of all time and my new favourite game but I cannot justify spending such an amount only for one game.

Waiting for all the multilayer titles before I decide to jump onboard.

Not really. One game (that I can play on my Wii U) and a bunch of Wii U upgrades aren't doing it for me. I do still have a system ordered from Target that I haven't cancelled yet, but waiting to see if my son wants the system for his birthday. Otherwise, it's going back. I'm sure I'll re-evaluate the system once Mario hits later this year.

I am getting Zelda on Wii U, so no. The earliest I'll get a Switch is when Mario comes out, but I could probably wait for a hardware revision.

No, I knew the game would be good. I'm still not going to buy a system for just one game. Maybe later in the year if Mario is looking great.

Oh my
Yes, the review scores changed my mind, will be selling my ps4 late this year and getting a Switch, hopefully I would get the chance to play it, but, considering that I am going to study abroad, my brother (A huge zelda fan) will be having a new console haha.

Sounds like the Switch version chugs at parts as well as the Wii U, I am fine with sticking with Wii U. I am not paying $300 for a bit better performance.

I would love a switch to play BOTW, but the system, memory card, pro controller and Zelda with Canadian exchange gives me pause. I currently have camera gear and a big trip to save up for.

Looks like an absolutely stellar game though!

It makes me even more mad that Nintendo put this thing out without any features. I would be there day 0 if they would allow me to use the screen as a very basic tablet since I'm already looking for a tablet. Guess I'll have to wait.

No , not really. A zelda game getting great/good review is fantastic , but to buy a console i need more than that.

It's not like there is a zelda game every year, so i can wait and see what the switch has to offer, because for me it's still a big question mark.

I wouldn't suspect a ton of people to really wanna make the switch just for Zelda, but people seriously thinking reviews for the game are in any way fake/moneyhatted/exaggerated must be kidding, right? What constitutes a "real" review in the minds of someone so jaded?

I don't think anyone expects Nintendo games not to be great. So not sure why Zelda beING good would change anyone's mind.

The big problem is that, since I couldn't care less about Zelda, there's really nothing for me at launch. Had Mario been here instead, maybe my answer would be different... but Nintendo went all-in with Zelda and lost me as a result.

Then there are the questions about the online service. And the lack of Virtual Console support. And the need for additional purchases in an SD card and a Pro Controller. And the comparatively high price, as opposed to a more-established and market-mature XBOS (bundled with at least one game).

At this point, there are too many questions and concerns about the Switch and its value proposition for me to be interested in buying one, at least for the next 6-8 months. Not caring for Zelda is just one of those problems.

I'm still on a "wait and see" mindset with switch. And of course I'm waiting to hear more about the consoles core features regarding online infrastructure which should start coming to light post launch and around summer time. I'll most likely jump in around Christmas when it's a better value proposition for me. For now, BotW on Wii U will do just fine. Pending what the reviews say for that version, but I'll likely get it anyway as I don't want to commit to the system just for that game at launch.

The reviews convinced me to blow the dust off my Wii U.

One last ride.

Personally, I'm not going to be sold on the Switch till it has more games I'm interested in.

No. Switch still seems like a cool semi-portable system,. perhaps underwhelming as a stationary one. Zelda seems great. I'm still concerned about release droughts.

No.
Experience has taught me that reviewers lose their objectivity with Nintendo games and especially the Zelda franchise. These reviews remind me of the over-hype for Ocarina Of Time way back when. I am not convinced that this is anything more than just another polished entry in a long-running franchise I can certainly live without.

It will have to take [multiple] new (non-casual) IPs with astonishing innovative gameplay to convince me to buy a Nintendo console again.

Was always going to purchase a Switch (had it pre-ordered but cancelled), Zelda reviews is pushing me to pull the trigger sooner, Summer purchase along with MK7, Splatoon 2 and hopefully some VC titles is sounding better than waiting for Mario.

Let's put it this way:

I am going to buy a new console in 2017. I already own a PS4 and I am planning on waiting til E3 to see the future plans of the 3 big hardware companies.

Before this review, and despite finding the Switch a very interesting concept, I had PS4 Pro comfortably sitting in the #1 position of my preferences; the Scorpio at #2 needing some big exclusives to sway me, for example, getting Cyberpunk 2077, a Sakaguchi or a Ken Levine AAA game as console exclusives; and Nintendo very far away, even from MS.

Right now, I can say that Nintendo's E3 Direct has my attention. But my money is still on the PS4 Pro, but the Switch got closer to the Scorpio.

GAF is like the worst place in the world to gauge...well, pretty much anything really.
