Have BotW reviews changed your mind about the Switch?

Kinda? I'd really like to get one at some point. The Wii and WiiU don't appeal to me in the slightest, and the last Mario or Zelda game I played was on the N64, so I'll definitely get me one in a little bit just to go through the library.

Nope. Still think this system isn't gonna do very well. But I have one preordered for the game alone anyway. I don't own a WiiU, and from the first time it was shown I was pretty certain this was the Zelda game I'd been dreaming of for over a decade.

No, the game is amazing but the console is still undercooked and half assed. Besides, I can still play the Wii U and the CEMU version.

Nintendo doesn't need my money right now though (for the console), they have lots of rabid hardcore fans (and scalpers) that will clear the stocks for some months.

Yes, I was thinking of getting one but knowing its almost as good on Wii U has made me decide not to bother and just buy it for Wii U instead?

Not really no. It makes me more confident about buying a switch in about a year or so when a good library comes up but nothing more.

We generally expected Zelda to review well, and i expect it to sell well too.

No because I have a Wii U

Switch needs an exclusive library before I'm going to jump in.

But I'm optimistic

Nope. The only way I'm getting a system for a single game is: "I'll play this game for 300 hours".

With the Wii U, that game was Xenoblade X. I knew I would sink 300 hours into it.

With the Switch... I'm excited about BOTW, but I don't think I'll play it for more than 100 hours. I'll wait for more games, then I might buy it.

Finally, a thread where everyone isn't acting like the switch is the second coming of christ.

On topic: The switch doesn't appeal to me, so BotW reviews haven't changed my mind.

I really want to buy the Switch, but I need to pay some things before. Maybe in May/June...

Unless I want go to debt today, of course.

If people honestly didn't expect BOTW to review that we'll you're crazy , the game looked great from the start and it's a new Zelda game . If anything the review scores of some other switch games have made me want to wait even more to get a switch , like 1,2 switch

Drawing out paths for Link to walk is completely inferior to moving him with traditional controls. It's just a terrible way to control Link.

It wasn't problematic to the game they designed. So I don't think it was a bad control scheme frankly. It worked and I never had any control issues. Not liking something is different than it being bad. It was completely functionally sound.

They got something very basic very wrong all to show off crappy new ways to play that were luckily ditched on the wayside.

Eh, yeah, you are confusing not liking something with jt being functionally flawed. The stylus never limited the game they created. It worked as intended. Just bitching about wanting traditional controls doesnt make something awful.

Not about the switch, but they give me more confidence in Zelda. I don't find all Zelda games that good so I had tamped expectations for botw. But things are looking good. Like Nintendo's still got it.

No, I'm still deeply suspicious of all Zelda review "scores." It's a darling of the media industry and a franchise I've never felt has lived up to the comparative praise it receives from mainstays.

Good heavens I want this game so badly. I will definitely buy a Switch down the road, I actually don't like the Switch upon its initial reveal but the reviews for this game is really something. I also feel like this will be the first Zelda game I'll love.

Not in the slightest. I still need to know a lot about the Switch, and one single game insn't enough to warrant a purchase, no matter how balls-to-the-wall amazing the reviews claim it is.

Can't believe so many "no's" in a game enthusiast community for the, seemingly, best game in the last 20 years.

If the Xbox was getting a game of this caliber I would for sure get an Xbox at least at some point in time.

A lot of folks saying "no" are saying no to buying a Switch at this point, not buying one ever. I'm in the same boat because one game is not enough to make me want to be a beta tester for brand new hardware :p

Nope.

Zelda being reviewed insanely well is not a surprise, that was expected. I really, really enjoy Zelda, but no to the degree that most do around here. When I likely get a Switch, likely around Mario time, i'll for sure pick up Zelda as well. Horizon and Mass Effect coming out around Swith release date further cemented my decision to wait.

I thought you were getting a Switch and Zelda??
I have considered it. Even considered it as an impulse today thanks to reviews.
But I will I take my time with Horizon for now and I will likely buy the Wii-U edition if CEMU works well in two weeks.

When the first must have exclusive launches for the console it will definitely make me more anxious to get one. Even then I'm still going to hold out for the first revision and a price drop.

And no, I don't consider BOTW a true exclusive because I can play pretty much the same exact game on 4 year old hardware.

Yes and, ultimately, no:

BotW positive previews made me want to reinstate my pre-order with Amazon, but every time I thought about it my thoughts eventually turned to the totally OTT cost of the Pro controller. Were it not for that I would likely have gone ahead and pre-ordered again, but as it is the £65 is enough of a cost to make me hold off buying a Switch. For now.

No, it just means they made a compelling new Zelda game without most of the negatives of previous entries. Has no bearing on the Switch because it's also available on the Wii U.

If I can't borrow a Wii U to play it I'm going to start looking for a Switch. My Switch preorder was cancelled for some reason, and I was resigned to wait till later this year to get it, but now I'm going to put Zelda before Mass Effect and Ghost Recon if I can.

No, it's hardly any different on the Switch, so why would it?

Blaster Master Zero makes me want a Switch more than Zelda, and even that game is also available on 3DS, so I'm still very lukewarm and underwhelmed about the Switch.

No, this game was expected by most to review well and be the highlight of the launch lineup. I'm not a Nintendo hater, but the Zelda series hasn't clicked with me so far.

It's still just one game. My interest level in the system and its games remains low.

Best game in the last 20 years is quite the statement. Regardless, it's still just a single game. There's so much incredible stuff out right now, the idea of plunking down damn near 500 bucks to play a single title is DOA. Honestly, I'll probably buy a Switch over the summer, rent Zelda, then just return the Switch a couple weeks later when I'm done. Sorry, not sorry.
