Have BotW reviews changed your mind about the Switch?

Unfortunately no.

Zelda BOTW is undoubtedly a very special game but that doesn't detract from a rather sparse launch line-up and a bit of a wait before the bigger games hit the console.

Maybe I'll think differently in 12 months time though.

No, it's cemented my opinion on the GAME, but it hasn't changed my opinion on the Switch. Time, approach, and the library will do that.

That said, it's great to know that they're kicking the goddamn door in with Zelda.

Absolutely, but...

I'm waiting for a price drop and hardware revision that hopefully improves battery and joycon functionality.

Until then, Wii U will fulfill my need to play what could be one of the greatest games of ALL TIME.

The game is exceptionally great but the future of the Switch is still up in the air.

It's got a great start though so chances of it doing well are absurdly high.

Nope. I cant imagine purchasing a console for essentially one or two games.

I know more will be coming, but Ill wait until their library is solid enouvh that I wouldnt consider there to ever be a drought.

No I still plan to pick it up at a later date, maybe after a pro controller pack in or Zelda bundle. I don't read much into Zelda review scores, the game could literally be an empty box with Zelda art on it and it would get a 9/10 lol. I'm sure it's a great game but it hasn't changed my opinion any. I'm enjoying 4k HDR gaming too much on my pro at the moment. Horizon and Mass Effect will get the majority of my time till summer, then we'll see.

Not really, I thought it looked great at E3, so I'm not too surprised at the reviews. But I'm still not paying full price for a Nintendo console where I'll likely only be interested in a handful of games.

Yes. I'll most likely be snagging the inevitable holiday bundle. I liked the Switch in everything but price and launch catalog.

Since Zelda was revealed at E3 I have done the following to quench my hype for this game: I bought a 3DS with LBW, MARIO Land, the two N64 Zelda updates and also a PS4 with Witcher 3, TLOU, Doom 4 and RE7...

So yes, since E3 Zelda had made Switch a day 1 purchase for me. These reviews just reinforce what I was hoping was true.

Sort of. I was waiting until winter (summer for you guys in the north) to buy it. But the Zelda hype made me rethink and then the indie direct pushed me to buy it as soon as possible.

well i was getting botw with a switch regardless (got it today).

the only thing the reviews changed is my expection, cant tell if this is a good thing lol

I own a Wii U and was feeling 99% on my Switch preorder. This pushed it to 100. I know I want this game in its best form possible now.

No. I'm not planning on getting a switch and this doesn't change my mind.

I am excited to play BotW on my Wii U tho.

Same price? A handheld with the same graphics as the PS4/XBO would be $800+ and have a 30 minute battery life.

I'm assuming they mean a regular console instead of a portable. A 300 dollar console with a Pro controller, and specs on par with at least regular ps4 would be more appealing to me as well.

I love Zelda, but I also am not paying this much to play one game. I'll wait for a price drop. It that never happens, I'll just skip the console like I did the Wii U.

No. Scores for Zelda games do not reflect their quality. Phantom Hourglass is a terrible game and one of the worst I've ever played but it has a 90 on metacritic.

I was always going to try out BotW, though, whenever I picked up a Switch to try it out for myself.

No, the simple fact is that there arent as many games on launch that I'm interested in. If Zelda was ONLY on the switch, then maybe I'd reconsider. I'll get a switch later down the line when mario and Xenoblade (hopefully) come out this Fall.

Nah, I'm still waiting on Smash and Pokemon. Not really into Zelda so it doesn't move the needle, despite the glowing reviews.

I guess we will find out this weekend. The plan was to wait until the holidays but Zelda on the go is very, very tempting. Currently playing and loving Horizon so maybe I will show some willpower for a change. Plus, ME Andromeda is around the corner.

Nope, I'm getting botw on the wii u. Once the switch gets a decent library of actual new games and a redesign then I will jump in.

I can't afford one. I would have one immediately if I could. I thought this before Zelda though.

Interesting to see that the concept of system seller doesn't exist any more. If a game like this can't sell a system, then no game can do that.

I always thought that the software lineup for the first year is strong.

But the hardware sucks balls, and today I think that I'm having a worse impression for it

Not at all I have a WiiU and no desire to buy a Switch. Hopefully Nintendo will come to their senses and make a proper home console this generation.

No fucking way !!!

Zelda isn't reviewing well because of the Switch. It's reviewing well despite the Switch.

The hardware seems fairly mediocre for it's price tag.

No - because I had already pre-ordered a Switch.

Frankly, Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey alone are enough to sell the system for me. Yes, I am willing to pay over $400 for two games I will genuinely love. But the Switch will have more great games than just that anyway.

I'm a quality over quantity person to an extreme degree. Gaming is not a regular part of my life. Aside from the Smash Bros / Mario Kart / Mario Party / Mario Tennis games that occasionally breakout with my 28 to 30 year old friends (mostly N64), I play maybe one modern game per year.

I LOVED A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and The Wind Waker, but felt that Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword were not quite up to my expectations (for very different reasons). Breath of the Wild seems like the Zelda game I've always been waiting for that puts it all together. I couldn't be more excited for it.

Breath of the Wild is all I need to sustain my video game needs probably for 2017. Certainly until Super Mario Odyssey arrives, anyway. And again, it does seem to me that the Switch will have more great games than just those two, releasing in 2017 and beyond.

Nope. When the choice is either:

a) Buy BoTW Wii U for approx £50 or
b) Buy the very same game for approx £60 plus a cheekily priced £280 console with an otherwise painful launch line-up plus a ridiculous £70 if I want a pro controller...

a) wins every time.

No. Scores for Zelda games do not reflect their quality. Phantom Hourglass is a terrible game and one of the worst I've ever played but it has a 90 on metacritic.

Phantom Hourglass is a good game. Honestly dunno why that game get so much hyperbole.

There's so many other great games in the pipeline right now. I can wait on Zelda for now. Probably will grab it during the holidays.

This thread has me all excited. Excited that there are so many that are passing on this. If this is the case then maybe I will find one casually walking into a store this Friday.

even though some may disagree with "poor people"

If I wasn't poor I'd be jumping on switch pro and everything else as soon as I could. I guess there is a difference between just not wanting it and that is what he is obviously missing.

I don't even have a wallet son.

No, but that doesn't mean I have a negative impression of the Switch. I think I'll pick a Switch up eventually to play Zelda, but that is more of a reflection of the game than the console itself.

Well I was buying it on the Switch, it just changed my mind about not buying the Wii U verision - I'm firmly in the camp where I would buy both just so I don't have to share my Switch.

Its made me want to go out and buy one now but I'm waiting for more games to pile up. Especially Disgaea 5 to grind on the go. But I can't wait to get my hands on BotW.
