Have you ever actually fallen asleep while playing a game?

I was coming down off meth when I first played The Room. I kept falling asleep and the sounds of creatures and creepy shit was fucking with me big time so I had to turn it off.

Final Fantasy 12. I was in some ancient train tunnels. Thankfully, the combat system plays itself, because when I woke up I immediately thought I had to start from a save file which was far away, but instead my party was intact and had I levelled up twice. It was awesome.

Yes, many times, actually. I've fallen asleep during Animal Crossing, Dragon Quest VII, The Sims, Eternal Darkness, and many others. It's mostly been RPGs or games with slower gameplay, though.

I fell asleep momentarily during a WoW raid one time. Thankfully I was just DPS and we were clearing trash so no one noticed. This was in Molten Core back in the day, so it should be understandable.

Also I did it a couple times in Persona 3 while clearing Tartarus floors. I'd just rest my eyes for a sec while my other party members were going and boom.

Yep.

Back when I played Counter-Strike, hadn't slept for 2 days and when I played on de_dust2 that night or day (can't remember) I fell asleep while camping the bomb site.

dat neck :(

I did once... after being awake for about 72 hours at a lan party. I was playing CS surrounded by empty cans of redbull and I fell asleep on my keyboard.

Other then that no. I turn of the game or can't sleep because I'm too involved or excited to fall asleep.

I have fallen asleep a lot watching someone play a game though.

Watching someone play a JRPG can cure insomnia.

Why would you do meth and then play a horror game?

Actually, better question: WHY WOULD YOU DO METH?

I do this all the time.

Strangely, only when another person is playing with me (in the same room).
They'll then shake me and tell me I should probably go to bed.

Yet, if I'm playin' by myself, I always catch myself, even in wee hours.
Progress calls.

I think this has happened to me twice.

First time was early one morning after playing Metal Gear Solid 4 all night, and I fell asleep during the final scene which was SO LONG, and I had to replay it again after I had some sleep.

Second time was while playing Mass Effect 2. I was playing late into the night because I couldn't stop and dozed off while resource mining.

Not often, but it happened once while playing on my 3DS in bed during some story segment in a JRPG (not really surprising)

Another time was at my friends house playing SSFIV against each other and I was so tired that I slept through entire battle not remembering what happened.

I've fallen asleep 2 times watching .hack//SIGN and it's theoretically about a game. Does it count?

I used to, regularly. My wife would be reading a book and would look up to see Mario (or whoever) running blindly against a wall, while I would be slumped over, eyes closed.

Turns out I had sleep apnea. If something like this has ever happened to you, I urge you to get tested. It's made a huge difference in my life.

Fall asleep rather often while playing games. Problem is I'm too stubborn to stop playing and just go to sleep when I'm getting too tired.

Randomly in various games but the big snooze button for me was Everquest, and that's back when I was in my early 20s and could stay awake for things. Sitting at the docks and waiting for a boat would knock me out 1/4 of the time.

I have: AC Revelations.

Not because the game is bad or anythig (I enjoy the series a lot), it is just that playing at night after work can have that effect sometimes...

I fell asleep while searching for a match in Halo 3.

Got pretty bad hate mail when I woke up, sad thing is that they automatically put you into another game when you don't back out :(

Many many times ! lol

Last time was while playing Kingdom of Amalur. I was feeling very asleep but I really wanted to finish a quest. As soon as I finished the quest, my eyes closed quickly. I was thinking, "just a minute then on to the next quest". Next thing I knew, I woke up in the morning with a tv, the sound system and the lights all open.

Valid question for everyone in this thread: did ya fall asleep or did ya pass out?

That said, I fall asleep A LOT during games. Mario Tennis, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil Revelations, Wii Sports, Worms, You Don't Know Jack, Yoshi's Island, Skyward Sword, Mass Effect, Mortal Kombat.

I'm a piece of shit.

GTA4: Was playing free roam MP and told my buddies to go get the helicopter. I fell asleep while waiting.

Gears 2: In some cave playing story with a buddy and he turned around and I was running into the wall.

I used to fall asleep all the time back when I used to play EVE Online. After I moved to another town for college I didn't bring my desk with me because it was so big it'd be a pain to move so I had my computer setup on a low coffee table. I'd play games laying on my side on the ground with some big soft pillows. Can't say how many battleships & HACs I lost because I'd fallen asleep laying there.

Fuck that game was boring. It's sad that the idea of that game essentially kept me playing for years.

Many times. Also in co-op.

Always fun to get a boot to the head when your partner catches you running/driving straight into a wall. :p

I've never... if i get to tired i just quit...

But my wife once fell alseep during a Civilization Revolution on-line game (360)... (we have 2 360's in our house) and i was down stairs she was in the bedroom, and were were playing with a few friends. She kept taking longer and longer to finish her turns.. and wasn't responding when people were talking (i thought it was headset trouble), when I up stairs she was out..

Everyone got a good laugh about that one!!

I've fallen asleep playing EverQuest more times than I could count back when I was a kid. It was always fun to wake up at 5 AM and still be in a group. Thanks for the free exp, guys!

I fall a sleep a lot while playing games in cars, usually pokemon or some other rpg.
Civ almost gets me, but to its credit it keeps me up till 12-3 a.m.

Final Fantasy VII came out when I was in college. (OLD)

There were nights when I'd come home drunk and want to play, but couldn't read so I would just go out and grind until I passes out. Several times I woke up to my character just standing in a field.

Never actually fallen asleep, but MKS/PKJ farming in DQ9 and marathon climbs in P3P's Tartarus came close. I still enjoyed it, but the repetitive nature meant I could turn my brain off, which led to some pretty severe drowsiness.

Fell asleep last night playing KoA: Reckoning. I was already tired from work and I just dozed off while playing. I woke up an hour later with my character running in circles since I was leaning over on the controller. There were a few enemies chasing me around too but I never died thanks to all my regen gems in my armor and weapons.

Cracked up when I saw this, I came in to post Final Fantasy 12. Mind you, it's one of my favorite games of that generation and my second favorite FF game overall, however, I was sort of lying down sideways on my comfy couch around 11:00pm at night playing it and during one of the longer cutscenes I must have drifted off. About 4 hours later I sputtered awake and it was still frozen in the same spot waiting for a button press to continue the dialogue. I couldn't remember anything that was going on for the 10 minutes or so preceding it so I had to reload an old save.

I think that was my only time.

Romancing Saga, tried three different prologues and for three different times I fell asleep.

Other one was the first Yakuza but that was me being tired from work at the time and forcedly trying to play.

I've fallen asleep several times, but only playing one game. Basically I would start up FFXI, log in, set my bazaar items up and then look for a group to level with if I wasn't interested in leveling a different job. Long story short, I woke up with a hot laptop sitting on my lap asleep on my couch several hours later many times. Never did get past level 60 on any job :(
