Have you ever fallen asleep while playing a game?

I've never been sent to sleep by a game, but I've fallen asleep while playing games more times than I can remember. I think the first was FFXII though, because before that I was in school and wasn't really in a position of freedom to literally play games until I fall asleep.

There were a few times during raiding in WoW where I'd fall asleep while waiting for the raid because the raids were at nonstandard times (Thanks timezones!) and it was really late. Was interesting basically telling my guild "Yell at me on vent" and going to lay down with my headphones on. :P

I fell asleep during the last part of Gears of War 2 while doing online co-op with my friend. He screamed into the mic for like 20 minutes before he gave up.

I was the one controlling the Brumak (sp?).

Admittedly IPA-induced, I fell asleep the other night playing The Last of Us. You know how sometimes you can hear, or at least are aware of, sounds happening around you even though you are still asleep (i.e. can't forcibly open your eyes/wake yourself up)? Well that happened to me and it finally got to the point where I did wake up abruptly, wide-eyed and pumping adrenaline. I had fallen asleep while
stealthing about the settlement in the sewers. Clickers and Stalkers screaming all around me.
I had no idea what was going on at first. It was pretty jarring.

Fell asleep walking to Freeport in Everquest with auto walk on. Walked it naked after banking everything, died, walked it again. I think it's a 2 hour walk for an non-buffed half elf warrior pre expansions

I've been playing pokemon for what? 15 years?? I've lost count of the times I've been playing in bed and woke up to find my batteries ran out.

Only purposefully. Sometimes I'll just idle in a safe area or pause and leave the game on while I sleep. I'll usually do this if there's an area with soothing music or (and this is weird but here I go anyway) I'll go someplace in-game that I'd want to chill at in real life if I could and just idle there and drift off to sleep.

Only a few times, usually I turn off the system when I'm feeling sleepy. However, there have some times that I have just dozed off and fallen asleep when playing certain games. Usually it happens when I'm trying to get a certain trophy that requires grinding or other repetitive tasks.

I fell asleep a dozent of times while playing Persona 4 and 3 because I couldn't stop....
Mostly because I wanted to reach the save point in the dungeons :X

Only once.

I was playing an MMO called Mabinogi (god I feel like that's all I post about anymore -.-) back when it was in its third or 4th generation (update). The main story quests had become F2P (beforehand you had to pay a sub to get them), so I was going through it with a few friends I met ingame (Sakura7,Claudia, and Vallencia I believe, only remember them by their nicknames, Sak Clau and Val.) Val and I had the highest levels (probably total level of 100-200 at that point), but Sak and Clau weren't far behind. Can't remember if Sak was a bow user and Clau was a magic user at that point or not.

Actually, it might've only been three of use, can't remember >.<

We had spent most of the day clearing the final dungeon for Generation One (we were in a hurry because we were running low on supplies (pots for health/stamina, bandages for wounds), and you can only get to the dungeon on Saturdays because its located in "Tir Na Nog", an apocalyptic copy of the regular world with only the beginning town available at that point).

By the time we got to the final boss (the final dungeon had a few parts to it iirc, and dungeons are randomized. The main killer in the dungeon was the Gargoyles which were very fast and could one hit you most of the time, so it took most of the day), it was probably a little bit past midnight. Since it was the weekend we wanted to try and just get it done. So we used a pass we got from the last part of the dungeon to warp straight to Glas Ghaibleann. Glas regens health extremely quickly, so the only way to kill him at that point (he's been mega nerfed since then as the game was dumbed down) was to "wound" him, since wounded portions of your health don't regenerate. And the only way to do THAT consistently was to A: Use a bow and arrow (good luck), or B: Burn the seals that the gargoyles drop, which are surrounding Glas in the boss room. When you burn the seal all your attacks cause wounds and I believe you can't take damage, or he can't defend against your attacks, not sure which. But you only stay like that for a few seconds, and you don't do a whole lot of damage to Glas, so it takes a few seals per person.

We failed a couple times at that, but at around 3 in the morning we finally beat Glas, and thus the G1 story quest.

I think I fell I asleep at the keyboard when we were waiting for one of my friends who was afk. That or it was during the cutscene after we beat him. Or both. Probably both.

Totally worth it.

Video of another group doing it way back then, also using the seals (Looks like you take 1 damage when the seal's blessing is active). Just incase anyone is interested. That's basically what the fight looked like when I did it the first time, except I think we kept him in the main room for the most part.

Yes, I was playing a multiplayer game of Supreme Commander. It was those huge 4v4 maps and I had just built my army and I was starting to move out across the map to attack the enemy players while they where preoccupied with my allies. I'm not sure what happened next, but I remember waking up to find my army utterly destroying one of the enemy bases.

- while playing a dynasty warrior game
- while grinding for exp in a mmorpg
- while running multiple clients of a mmorpg running through every stages for multiple times day after day. Yes it's a QA tester job without any tools.

Everquest Online Adventures - just after the expansion it would take hours and hours of constant grinding just to gain a level (I wanted to say ding). After awhile they made it where you can go from 1 to 60 in a couple of days.

I would also fall asleep in Madden a lot, so there would be times I would be 3rd and goal from my 1 yard line.

All the time haha. It's particularly easy when playing a handheld in bed.

This is very true. I must have done this a bunch of times while playing iOS games.

But in terms of gaming on a console, the only time I can remember this happening was on the night before Thanksgiving a few years back - I feel asleep during a long conversation part of Mass Effect 2. Bein woken up by your girlfriend while holding a controller is a pretty funny feeling.

First time I ever did was while playing FFVIII. No, no, I'm not knocking the game, just you see that while I was a senior in High School, the rules where I couldn't play my damned game during the school week, and I was waiting till late at night after everyone was asleep to play unnoticed. Problem is, I fell asleep, controller in hand, and was awoken the next morning to my mother yelling at me. Such bullshit.

Aside from that, I've had it happen a few times on long MMO sessions that went just way too late into the night: FFXI, WoW....although I think it happened more often on FFXI. If I got a good XP party going in that game, I just didn't care what time it was because I wasn't going to let that go to waste after having waited so long for things to commence. I was always last man standing when everyone was getting tired, begging them to keep going because I wanted more, and I'd keep at it until I would just pass out without realizing it.

Man, just thinking about it, in my early 20s I had some epic afternoon to early morning sunrise sessions on that game. The best was when me and a friend of mine went to Starbucks on a Friday afternoon and got coffees with 7 shots in them. What commenced was a sleepless weekend of levelling, rank quests, AF quests, you name it. Come that Sunday night where I finally passed out to sleep before work, the dreams I had were fucking disgusting nightmarish horrors.

I could so not do that today. Those dreams sucked (warped FFXI stuff), and my wife, and probably my kids, would kill me ha-ha.

I use to fall asleep waiting for battleground queues in classic World of Warcraft.. was exceptionally easy to do when you'd be playing for 16 hours for the day already trying to chase down that top 10 finish for the week.

God damn that was a grind, and for what?

Yep, mainly Red Dead Redemption and Xenoblade Chronicles. Both very high quality games but sometimes if I'm playing late the travel time will put me to sleep. Red Dead looks and feels amazing but it is super boring. Xenoblade has finally grown on me and I am really enjoying it though.

Yes, once when i was playing Half Life 2 SP at about 70% of the story campaign. Since than i dont try to force myself into finishing the game, i just turn it off.

Just last night I did for the first time actually. But was playing my Vita in bed so that explains a lot. Hotline Miami of all games, but was not on a main mission so that also helped.

A group of about 4 friends of mine used to get together at mine and sometimes we'd play Mario Galaxy, taking it in turns 1 at a time with 3 watching. It was still fun. But one friend of mine gets tired pretty easily and we used to play a bit late (not that late) - anyway, he'd be falling asleep with the controller in his hand and we'd only notice after seeing mario slow down a bit, seemingly taking in the sights a bit too long.

I don't think I've ever fallen asleep during a game. Not that I remember anyway.

yes, happened every time while playing those text heavy portable games like Hotel Dusk and Ace Attorney. Not that the games are bad, quite the contrary, but they just make me fall asleep when I'm playin them on the couch

Nah, I've never fallen asleep whilst playing a game. If I'm that tired and can't concentrate I just stop playing.

Lol yes, I use to during multiplayer games. Now since I don't play too much multiplayer , I only doze during single player campaigns. Work got me hustling.

Had a rough week in army (five day camp in forest..something like 10h of sleep during four nights) and then during friday evening after I got home and ate (something like 10pm) booted Final Fantasy XIII-2 while lying on bed and played for sometime before I fall to sleep during longer cutscene lol. Next memory is from saturday morning ....
