Have you ever fallen asleep while playing a video game?

I was soooo close to falling asleep during MKWii too, not because I hate it, but because I was just on cruise control for all of 50cc.

Then I played DK's Jungle Parkway with friends today and even though I played it yesterday, I only noticed the changes from the N64 version for the first time today because of how out of it I was during my first run.

Yeah, I fell asleep all the time playing FFXI late at night.

I also fall asleep playing portables in bed at night. Kind of like I do with books at times, actually.

I've fallen asleep a number of times while trying to get to a save point in various Final Fantasy games. It really pisses me off because it runs up my hours-played. I would note that it is almost always a factor of inebriation and not a factor of enthusiasm for the game.

I fell asleep late at night playing GT4 once, but, then again, I was kinda trying to. I was doing one of the city tracks at night with Debussy on for the music in time trial with infinite laps or something like that when I nodded off. It was actually quite relaxing; I think I might just pull out the old wheel and do it again tomorrow night. :lol

Up until the end of 2006 I worked on a 24 hour rotating roster, and would stay up all night prior to a grave shift the next night (so I could sleep through the day). I fell asleep playing a heap of games when doing that, but most consistently it was Lumines Live. I'd start going insane past 3 AM and Lumines was the only game I could concentrate on, but it was so hypnotically paced it was easy to fall asleep to. I remember a bunch of times falling asleep with a blank screen, and waking up just as the last piece fell into place, creating a tower that killed me, heh.

Once when facing anima in FFX. It was really late and I had a headache (thought I could go a little further), so I wasn't all that surprised when I woke up the next morning.

I fall asleep during many games, mainly racing ones though as I go woah and wake up I've crashed.

Kinda happens a lot :/ Too tired all the damn time.

Done it while playing PSO.

Woke up and my character was running endlessly into a wall. I'd still got my thumb on the stick. Carried on a bit and fell asleep again

Mercenaries. Don't get me wrong, I played the crap out of that game and loved every second of it. Except that one time I hooked it up in my room and I played it while laying down on my bed at 2 AM. :lol

Weird consensus. Looks like RPGs and racing games are the main culprits- WoW and Forza the new Ambienl?
I'm not surprised with MMOs. People tend to be so addicted to them that they'll push themselves until their body says no more. Racers are a bit of a surprise though, and could be rather unfortunate if the behaviour generalizes!

PSO was so good that I was actually playing offline at the time, thankfully. would have been pretty embarrassing if logged in.

I fell asleep during the ending of MGS2. My brother played through the game while I watched on, but I nodded off near the end. He tried to explain the ending to me afterwards, though I wish he hadn't.

The only other time I have ever fallen asleep without wanting to was when we went to see The Empire Strikes Back SE at the theatre. My brother told me I was snoring. Luckily the speakers were so loud that no one else heard me.

Trancemission in Rez quite a few times. Mass Effect once or twice when I was awake past my bedtime.

I don't think so, but I can't fall asleep while reading either and I can only fall asleep when I'm watching TV in the living room, usually in the middle of the afternoon or early evening.

World of Warcraft.

I wasn't even that tired, it was just so goddamn boring running the same instance / raid over and over again. I'm pretty sure chatting with my virtual "friends" during runs was the only reason I kept playing as long as I did.

I did when I grinded in FFX... and TONS and TONS and times in FFXI!

For some reason I never feel sleepy when playing games even if I stay up all night. There's just something stimulating about it.

The night I got Smash Bros. Brawl. Got it at midnight, went to a friends house and played for a few hours, then went home and played for many more hours. I don't remember falling asleep, but I woke up with Sonic music playing. My brothers thought I was playing Sonic.

Halo 3 all the time. If I don't have a Monster near me, I will just fall asleep while the matchmaking is happening. Last time I think I stayed up until 5:00 AM with friends, so it was obvious a couple of us were half asleep during games, and completely sleeping during the lobbies. Blackout man, its just that fucking addictive.

I was often falling asleep playing Mass Effect, though I think it had more to do with the time I was playing - late afternoon, which is my sweet spot for dozing. Though scouring planets for enemies and quests to a pleasant soundtrack certainly helped :lol

Several time in different games. The one I remember most was Unreal Tournament(PC), I was playing Insta-Gib CTF, and fell asleep with my cross-hair on the door and my finger on the trigger. But was awoken to a "Killing Spree" from people walking into my beam:lol

I did in Lost Oddessy the other day while I was skill grinding.

When I was endlessly grinding in DQVIII I found that putting on music in the background, helps keep your mind occupied from falling asleep. Just focus on the music instead of the tedious grinding.
