Have you ever won a prize or giveaway?

I've won a few raffles at local businesses around town, adds up to a few hundred dollars worth by now. Also won a Kitchenaid mixer from Amazon not long after I had bought one. Accidentally got sent two of them too.

Anybody wanna buy a mixer?
 
I won a shirt from Giant Bomb this year but I haven't received it yet so whatever.

I won the grand prize in a N64/Diddy Kong Racing contest at Blockbuster. The prize was a copy of every 1st and 2nd party game released to date. I was beyond floored when I came home from school and there was a huge box just full the brim of N64 games. I already owned pretty much all of them though so I returned them to Toys R US for Geoffrey Dollars and bought new N64 games whenever they were released, it was great.

My brother actually won 2nd prize in the same contest and got a yellow gameboy pocket and a copy of donkey kong land. I'm guessing the prize pool was actually 1 per store and we were the only ones who entered or something.

Most recently thing I "won" was from a receipt survey from Walmart. I got $100 gift card in the mail randomly and forgot I even did the survey.

Edit: Apparently I didn't win the grand prize, I won the "first" prize. I'm kind of glad I got the games instead of the vacation...
Nintendo 64 owners can also participate in the 'Diddy Kong Racing Wild Adventure Blockbuster Video Sweepstakes". The sweepstakes invite people to rent Diddy Kong Racing or play the game in-store and then fill out a three question entry from pertaining to the game. Winners will be chosen at random.

Prizes include: A trip for four on a hovercraft ride between England and France -- through the Straight of Dover in the English Channel.
A flight on a vintage aircraft.
Tickets to the Monte Carlo Grand Prix.
Airfare and hotel accommodations for all locations.
50 First prize winners will receive the complete N64 library of games.
500 Second prize winners receive a Gameboy pocket and Donkey Kong Land 3.
1,500 Third prize winners take home the Diddy Kong Racing Player's Guide.

Yeah. I won Assassins Creed: Black Flag from Chris Smoove on YouTube one day. Surprised the hell out of me because I never expected to win.
 
I won my Xbox 360 through the "win every hour" contest they had going at the time. Lots of GAF people won it, since if you played your cards right, you could have a 1-3% chance of winning every day by collecting enough free-to-enter tokens. After about 15 tries, I got the 360 for free.

The system came a week early, all part of the "play it before you can buy it" promotion. They actually wanted you to throw a party to celebrate the system's arrival. It came with 360 coasters, coupons for free pop and chips, buttons and probably more stuff I'm forgetting. Problem was, it only came with Kameo (you ended up getting Need for Speed later on). Remember Kameo? Since you got the system early, its not like you couldn't pick up any more games or anything.

So yeah, they expected us to throw a party for Kameo...
 
I won a penzoil trucker hat when I was in first grade. For some reason we were across town when I entered, and when they called us about my prize, my mom was always too lazy to drive all the way down there to pick it up. Never did get that hat...
 
A few things. I won a Vita and PS4 via the Taco Bell contest. The Vita took me quite a few boxes (probably $30 worth) while I won the PS4 on my second box.

I won a full band-in-a-box bundle during the Rock Band 2 "Pepsi cap" promotion.

I also won two Facebook giveaways; one for a Dream Theater Bluray/CD boxset bundle, and the very next contest from the same Facebook group for an Aerosmith Bluray/CD boxset bundle.

Finally, I won my current TV (55" 4K LG).

I'm definitely very thankful for my luck.
 
Won a game from Gamesmaster magazine, UK mag, when I was in ssecondary school. Parents got really freaked out by me receiving a random parcel and spent the next two days grilling me about who I had been talking to online.

It was a copy of that simpsons crazy taxi clone for the xbox. I don't own an xbox.
 
I won a $100 iTunes gift card from a mobile game company giveaway. I think I had to do a survey on their Facebook page to be eligible to win it. I always used to think those were BS until I got it in the mail one day!

Also, recently I won three books from an indie author I follow on Facebook. They are signed by her as well!

I won a Radeon 7500 in the early 2000s from a website draw. I have won random little things, but that's the biggest.

My wife won a $400 child car seat from a mom's group on Facebook. I was glad to not have to pay for that.
 
I won a taylormade driver with a tweet once. Only other time I can remember winning anything was a raffle for concert tickets, but it was a two step process so after your raffle ticket was pulled you had to pick a ball out of a bag and of course I got a garbage prize of a radio station hat instead of tickets.

But generally I have terrible luck anyway so whatever.
 
There was a function that my city had for everyone who received a scholarship through the Cleveland Scholarship Program (or whatever it was called). They were giving away crap for your first-year (dorm room stuff) and I was surprised when they called my name first.

I was like, "DAFUQ?!" I never win anything, lol
 
Best thing I won was some free headphones from some Subway contest that people found all the codes for and posted online. You entered so many codes a day, and it popped up that I had won these fairly expensive headphones.

They were really ugly though and are now falling apart so I rarely use them.
 
I won a free year of Blockbuster rewards (was their mail service dvd/bluray like netflix), a PC case worth like 80 bucks, and some random stuff on steamgifts.
 
Scholarships count? I won a very nice scholarship that allowed me to start my graduate studies abroad, living expenses included.
 
I remember winning a copy of "Love Wrecked" on DVD from a radio station, was a surprise contest too "the prize could be anything and it was a fucking amanda bynes movie about her being ship wrecked on an island

was funny though, the trip , not the movie, I just donated it that same day
 
I need to start entering more contests.

I did enter a drawing for a 2015 Mustang a year or so back, never heard anything back from them. Guess I didn't win.
 
Randomly I've won:

PS2 from a radio station. (Be the 10th caller etc.)

At work, (I work at a cruise line - this is over the course of 6.5 years) through random giveaways I've won:

iPod touch
2night Cruise for 2 on our newest ship + domestic flights
$50 Giftcard

Then most recently I won employee of the year which included:

free 7 night cruise for 2
$500 Giftcard
40 extra hours paid vacation to take the cruise
 
Maybe once or twice. I rarely ever enter any giveaways, though.
A friend of mine is basically living off winning giveaways and selling the prizes. He enters hundreds of them every month and wins iPads and other expensive stuff often enough.
 
Yeah, when I was like 12, I won a giveaway for a picnic basket/picnic set (plates, silverware, etc.) from a local shop. I think I used it like twice...

Also when I was like 13, my Little League had one of those raffles where you buy a certain amount of tickets, and there are a bunch of sponsor prize jars around that you can put the tickets into at your choosing. I put them all into the one that was worth the most money... which was for a gift certificate to a massage parlour. I never ended up using that...
 
I won the Blockbuster Video World Game Championship in my state which landed me a free trip to a resort in Fort Lauderdale, and a bunch of Blockbuster gift cards, game swag, and even a copy of Incredible Hulk #1.
 
I got cheated out of one once.

It was at Gamestop. My wife and I were there at the Midnight release of Halo Reach. Everyone there got the put their name in a hat, and whoever was drawn got a free special edition Halo Reach Xbox with all the bells and whistles.

Well, my name was drawn, but they disqualified me because my wife worked at a different gamestop on the other side of town.
 
I've won my share of games on gaf, back when I frequented the Steam thread when it was on gaming side. Won a lot through ModBot, including some heavy hitters like Bioshock Infinite, Civ V, and Dishonored. I also won Dark Souls through non-raffle means in a contest where I described how I would design a boss fight.

Otherwise, not really :(
 
I won a youtuber's subscriber giveaway for Sonic Adventure 2 on PC years ago when it was released. I am no longer subscribed to him, and I dont remember who it was. I dont think he had many subs.
 
SC Johnson had a giveaway last year where they were giving away $1000 and $250 visa gift cards in a time seeded giveaway. You could enter for each one once per day. They were actually giving away more of the $1000 ones than the $250 ones so the $250 was rarer and I won the $250 one... :(
 
I won a piglet at a local fair when I was eight but my parents only told me about it years later. They traded with the winner of a basket full oh wine, cheese, ham etc. without me knowing.
I thought the winner would get to keep the piglet, turned out what the winner actually got was a roasted piglet for a party, the living one was just for show. :(
 
I recently won a bottle of Five Pawns Castle Long Reserve from a caption contest

my son won a 32" vizio from a raffle. was really my ticket but we put his name on it. he has a TV so it's mine for the basement
 
I won a 55" Samsung 3D TV, Blu-Ray Player and a copy of Monsters Vs Aliens in 3D, 6 years ago.

I have only ever bought 1 3D movie (Jurassic Park) since.
 
The best thing I won was was Deep Riverrock (a water company here). I just bought a random bottle of water, entered a competition that was on the label and won a tent, sleeping bag, iPod, and inflatable chair with speakers as part of a festival bundle. I am quite lucky with stuff like that and win things randomly every now and again.
 
There was a contest at a toy store to score as many goals as possible during one period in NHL 95 for the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) that I won.

The prize was any game of my choice. I wanted Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition but a friend convinced me to get NBA Live instead and for some reason I did. I still regret that decision +20 years later.
 
A long time ago Cheese-Its had a Nickelodeon contest where you could win a prize by sending in boxtops. I won a CatDog joke book.

My mom's won radio call-in contests several times. One time she got tickets to see Brian Regan live but didn't know who he was so she gave them to me.

I won a Nintendo "Who Are You?" hat when NoA had the campaign where they'd drive a truck to various locations and have competitions in 2004 (can't remember the name of it). They took over the movie theater. I got the hat by answering a trivia question about what the Japanese names for the NES and SNES are.
 
I won the first wave of resarus street fighter toys for being the one to guess what the first set of toys would be. I forgot the answer but that was a nice set of toys to win.

This was probably like 2001 or something.
 
I got second or third place in a contest that was on the WB cartoon block, the prize was some scooby doo game on the original xbox, I promptly sold it to a second hand video game store for like 11 dollars.

As a child I won a weird transforming Alien RC car, a stuffed cat that said fruit names when squeezed, a collection of Mega man games and parapanelia, a Sonic the Hedgehog game collection, several restaurant gift cards, and some other little things. Never anything major though.
 
Won $200 on the radio when I heard the station call my name for that hour ($50) and I had 5 minutes to call in. The next hour was a bonus hour ($150) and the person for that hour didn't call in so I got their money too.
 
Reasonably frequently. I won an ori and the blind forest GAF giveaway, and I won a raffle for a $10 sheetz gift card two years ago.
 
When I was seven, I was about to eat a Nestle Crunch bar and it said I won something on the inside of the wrapper. My dad sent it in, and six months later I got a basketball lol. I already had like four basketballs, so it was kind of a disappointment.
