No, but they continually drag feet on any apps that take you away from the Time Warner equiptment. as they see it...they pay HBO and ESPN a handsome fee for their product, and thus, they and they alone should control it.

HBOgo doesn't work on Roku and i assume it won't on Xbox just like ESPN.

in summation: screw Time Warner (I know...I just dropped them)

It works the same as the Netflix app. You pick a provider, log on your pc, input the code and it authenticates your 360. I assume it's a one time deal like Netflix but that it will only allow a certain amount of streams playing at a time.

With Comcast/Xfinity, you enter your email account information in. Not sure how Charter works if it's just cable.

Does HBO Go even support Charter in the 360 app? You should figure that out first.

Yes it works that way. I used my Dad's dish network login on the web portal and it worked perfect. Hell portable devices like the iPad ask for the login info and I think like anyone in the country can just navigate to the web portal and login (my brother in Chicago was using it all last year to watch Game of Thrones).

I think Comcast only allows access to HBOGO on iOS devices, Android phones and PC. Pretty much anything that can be hooked up to your TV to use HBOGO they don't allow.

You need cable to use HBO Go.

No. You need a login and password to authenticate on the website. I have AT&T uverse internet with no cable and use Dish network login to authenticate. If the app was smart enough to detect whether you have cable and/or HBO subscription then there would be no need for authentication codes. I'm sure that will be the case in the digital future but for now I will pay my dad the $16 for HBO sub.

in that case, no. My mom has Charter w/ HBO, I don't have any cable on my HTPC setup, just OTA via a tuner. I can log in using her credentials on both a browser in HTPC and on my roku no problem.

But you can only be logged in on one device at a time...so if you log in one place, it logs you out everywhere else. They aren't authenticating on your broadband provider like ESPN does...otherwise with Time Warner i would be blocked altogether.

So, did they ever fix the black levels issue that everything other than the Zune marketplace had on the 360? I didn't pay attention. The only reason I ask is because HBO's black levels seem off, evident immediately in the 10 second animation that plays before every video. The beginning of Green Lantern didn't do any better.

Downloaded the 360 xfinity app and logged in. Browsed through the HBO OD stuff and it seems that the majority of their content is available.

Looked at the GoT stuff and Xfinity stupidly lists it from the last episode to the first instead of first to last. They also don't list season/episode numbers (S1:E2) which is annoying as well.

Also, the content expiration dates are earlier on xfinity than HBO Go. The first episode of GoT expires on 7/31/12 for Xfinity. Meanwhile the same episodes expires 12/31/12 in the HBO Go app.

So the Xfinity app seems decent for now. But sure wish I could just directly access HBO Go directly on my 360 just like I already do on my iOS devices.

Does it atleast say the hbo app is in use and make you click to log the other person off or does it just automatically kick them off? I'm curious how that would work. As long as we would be notified it would be fine.... I'm just worried about it if it automatically does it we might be stepping on each others toes when trying to use hbo.

It is going to be a long time before that happens unless there is some kind of miraculous FCC changes before Republican Lawmakers completely dismantle the "Job Killers at the FCC" and completely deregulate any rules that are left.

The incumbents are going to stand their ground for as long as they can, and providers like HBO, Showtime, MLB, the NFL, and any other content providers still holding their products behind regional paywalls and blackout rules as long as a guaranteed check from the Cable industry is bigger than the not-guaranteed direct subscriber money.

It is the de-regulated utopia Reagan promised us.

No idea, all i noticed was when i logged in on my HTPC, it dropped me out of my session on my laptop, and vice-versa. it is probably on the login...if you already have a session active, it drops it if you start another.
