HD video capture - any simple solutions?

So I actually ditched the Hauppauge and got the Intensity. I'm having trouble getting it to accept 720p through my ps3 (it's a very weird set up). I was able to get 1080i (which means I can cap some native psn games... and virtua tennis). So I did a cap of virtua tennis.

This one is downscaled from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 (1920 x 1080 too big for imageshack):

VT3 1280x720

So as you can see, it looks AWESOME. It looks flawless at 1920x1080.

Now if I can just get the damn thing to accept 720p...

What app are you using to record?

Not to shill, but I have that radioshack splitter and am looking to sell it for 30$ if anyones interested. I used it until I got a capture card that supports D-Terminal only. A word of warning though, all powered amps like this introduce some signal differences from if you captured directly. Such as flickering and such. Thats another reason why I don't use this anymore.

If your curious about HD capture cards, theres really only one topic you need to read:

An invaluable resource now that many people (including Blim ;D) have popped in there.

Well, I'm still waiting for my third hard drive to arrive to set up my raid. Also, like I said, 720p through my weird setup is being twatty with me. So right now, I'm not doing any "real video." But to answer you question, since I'm only using one drive right now, I'm using media express (just comes with the intensity). I start recording a video and then stop it like 9 one hundredths of a second later :P. Then I just open the video and screen cap it.

If you use media express and grab a frame, it looks like blurry ass. To get the best caps, take screens of the video. All the frames are uncompressed after all.

It should just work. I set it to 720P max, set it to 720p 60hz, and it works heh

Yeah, but like I said, my setup is weird (for reason). I'm not using the intensity pro with ps3 component out to the breakout cable. :P

I have a 360 with HDMI coming either Saturday or Monday.

Avoid the built in software at all costs. If youre on Windows, the latest Virtualdub works swimmingly. Can take screens from that as well I believe.

Have you had troubles with the media express? I have other programs that will work... I just use it because since my setup is so ghetto right now, it's the easiest to dick around with. When I get my raid, hdmi 360, proper ps3 set up, I'll be changing my software.
