- I think this is the definitive engine for this game, it's perfect and we're going to reveal a release date soon! (Duke Nukem forever new producer)

:(

- GameStop, Blockbuster, Boarders, Barnes & Nobles and other media specialty stores are gone. Malls are no more. What people can't get online, they'll get in a big box store. Whatever retail is left will have to be unable to be reproduced online and be incompatible with the big boxes' wide net, vanilla generican reach. A larger focus on culture selling than product selling.
- People primarily buy cars from big box stores and online stores instead of dealerships.
- Self-driving car technology goes to the consumer level, allowing more mobility to those without licenses or physically unable to drive. Taxi drivers and chauffeurs find themselves jobless, and get about as compassion as autoworkers. Zip Car and other car sharing businesses see a spike in profit as they set up service stations around cities which can send a car out to anybody who calls for one, take them to their destination, and return to be maintained when not in use. Car sales suffer because of this.
- Digital contacts or digital glasses are the norm, giving the users augmented reality HUDs, or full visual virtual reality. Television and monitor sales drop, movie theaters and arcades close.
- E-readers and/or tablet PCs are common in schools.

- Earth-like planet discovered. Signals not found in nature detected emanating from the planet, massive project to make contact begins.

- The super telescopes and radio telescopes currently being built come online and greatly expand our knowledge of the universe. Dark energy is explained and leads to great leaps forward in faster-than-light travel and spacetime manipulation.

- Electric cars become increasingly more mainstream.

- The steady decline of religion grows more rapid.

- Print newspapers and magazines are reduced to simply a novelty, similiar to vinyl albums.

- Cancer is cured. Scientists continue to make strides in reversing aging.

First human clone born in Russia. Has health complications.

First consumer-level quantum computers release. At once greater and lamer than anybody dared to imagine.

Revolution and civil war breaks out in China. State now split into two main territories.

Japan embarks on major immigration campaign after failure of fertility campaign. Catch-cry is "populate or perish".

Rise of Brazil bodes poorly for US hegemony in Latin America.

Plans for construction of first major nuclear fusion plants stalled. Costs blow out.

Cheap method for mass production of carbon nanotubes discovered. Talks begin for construction of first space elevator.

Room temperature superconductors discovered. Technology using them still finnicky.

Solid state capacitors replace electrolysis reaction-based batteries.

LEDs replace nearly all other technologies as sources of light.

Evidence of alien life discovered in sub-terranean oceans of Europa. Isn't very exciting.

These are creepily detailed. Are you from the future?

-North Korea launches nukes onto Tokyo, Japan. 500,000 known causalities . 100,000 injured. America must face a decision to enter into World War 3 with Britain, Japan, and Italy.

-A world war against fisheries ignites when overfishing has depleted the oceans. Nations fight over New Zealand's Blue Haven marine reserve.

-All American jobs are outsourced to Asian, African, and Mexican sweatshops due to crumbling economy and heavy inflation.

-Polar icecaps rapidly melt, dramatically raising the sea level up another eight inches. Scientists fear the worst hurricanes and tsunamis will hit Pacific and east coast United States next month. All polar bears and penguins are relocated to overcrowded zoos.

-Sever fires and drought in South America due to heavy deforestation, impossible to save the remaining rain forests. Countless more flora and fauna extinct.

-The once common Rock Pigeon faces extinction due to climate changes and pollution. Remaining species are kept in captivity across the world.

-Heavy sewage and lack of waste management continue to contaminate remaining water reserves. Higher taxes on fresh water in the future

-At the age of 120, Jack Lelanne dies from pneumonia when he attempted to pull 100 boats with a hundred people from Puerto Rico to Maimi, Florida during Hurricane Micheal.

-The last beehive dies from CCD. Hand pollination becomes the requirement of all crops. Disregard all headlines because once bees are dead, the world is phucked.

Sorry for all the pessimism. I drink Carnation's Instant Pessimist in the morning.

You people are psychopaths.

Reality would be something like

Still think windows 7 should have been called "Windows Mango!"

-People with be able to pay a monthly fee and have unlimited access to all available media - every album, movie, game, book, newspaper, magazine, etc, will be archived and instantly available.

-A sandbox game will be developed that somehow incorporates Google Earth technology - which by then will have fully global coverage and high resolution 3D imagery. Maybe Grand Theft Auto 10.

-Google will continue its dominance and its search engine will still be the main way most people experience the internet.

-The internet (websites) itself will still look virtually the same - only the ways it is accessed and interacted with will be different.

-Displays will be ubiquitous - As pliable as a piece of paper and nearly as thin. A miniaturized CPU/RAM will be incorporated and tiny solid state hard drives which contain an OS - everything else, including games, will simply be streamed over the (near global) wireless internet. They will be solar/biologically powered and use a negligible amount of energy.

-There will be a workaround for latency, reducing it to a non-issue in order to make the above seamless

-Motion controls will be the norm for some electronic devices (especially playing games in the house) and will be extremely accurate, able to detect the slightest hand motion. Also touch-screen controls will continue to improve and become more intuitive.

-There will be a cure for baldness (I pray this one happens before I go bald)

I'm an optimist.

Humans are now capable of living over 150 years, but if you are over 50, you are too old for the program.

I expect to be 51 when I read this.

US president to issue statement from Cheyenne Mountain. Expresses sorrow and quick action as the world reels from the Asteroidal impact off the coast of England.

Over 200 million feared dead as an undetected asteroid approximately 2.5 miles wide (4.02 km) struck off the coast of England the blast was something that modern day Earth has never seen. The impact caused a Tsunami that was about 2 miles (3.2 km) high and traveling at about 1500 miles per hour (2,414 kph). Evacuation efforts proved futile as the wave traveled 50 miles inland in some areas.

I don't see a bright future for humanity.

- world oil production peaks, and demand outstrips supply. Never-ending Depression ensues.

- alternative energies are touted, but none can fill the gap left by cheap, plentiful oil.

- intermittent blackouts/brownouts become a fact of life in the USA

- we turn to coal as one mitigation measure

- the tundra burps methane

- resource wars

- mass migration out of the Southwest, mainly due to water issues. Lake Mead is DRY.

- world population reaches 8 billion

- major flu pandemic

- hyperinflation kills the dollar (think:Weimar)

- Democrats, due to demographic trends, dominate for the next twenty years. But they also get the blame eventually, and the GOP begins a comeback.

- Social Security is scrapped.

These are just off the top of my head..
