After a long draught I finally got another 8-2 run with a Rogue .. pretty average draft (no weapons, no SI:7 .. but 2 backstabs, 2 eviscerates, 2 deadly poisons) and no card higher than 5 mana.
But this time my starting hands were mostly playable and I didn't have to skip turns.
And Rogue Combos are so much fun .. if you manage to draw the right cards ;)
Especially Backstab + Deadly Poison is so strong in the first 3 to 4 Turns.

The major Rogue problem in Arena is card draw I feel. Luckily I had a Gadgetzan Auctioneer which helped me to get some in the midgame.

I think rogues are probably the most fun class while still being strong. They're kind of underrated in arena too.

After playing some more i think i've found whats bugging me mostly, since there are so few cards out deck building is kinda limited. There are a few good cards which all decks will take and since (IMO) the variation you can get with using class specific cards is to little to have a lot of different decks. I mean there are class cards, but at a decent ranking only a few are actually worth it. Other TCG's bypass this by making you chose a certain color or type in which you build your deck (blizz could fix this by adding more class minions for starters)

While I agree that more cards are necessary, the game isn't being released until next year. Plenty of time to add more cards. And I hope they do, because as you said, there are a core 15 to 20 cards that are common in nearly every deck. "Oh, you dropped an argent commander, how lovely, didn't see that coming."

Are they adding more cards to the current set before launching?

I was under the impression that any more additions would be added with an expansion-like set?

Rush Druid 2 gut. I win 30-0 by turn 5/6 or I can just concede. It's countered by priests and/or healing/delay. Still working to refine it, but it's working pretty well. I don't have anything over 3 cost besides swipe/keeper of the grove/druid of the claw.

Very disappointed about the "ranking" system. I already hit Master 3, after starting to play the game just yesterday evening. Ranked score is 33-2 with my warlock. Lost to mages twice. Drew crap like you have never seen and stupid fireball /pyroblast is too stronk. :(

I read there is something after master 3. True?

edit: Grandmaster it seems.

Eurogamer article/interview mentioned expansion pack by the end of the year, read it on several other places before too. So sounds like they will be doing expansion packs and adventure mode patches during open beta.

Just got a beta invite and downloading now. Admittedly, I've no idea how to play this type of game lol. I am familiar with WoW though if that helps any. Is there a tutorial of some sort? Or if anyone wants to help me out my bnet is plbelanger#1923

There is a mandatory tutorial before you can play. Like 5 quests or so.

Oh look who I found:

dota/hon players will recognize the screen name

Just got into the beta, super excited. I've been wanting to play this since it was announced, although I'm going in blind.

I cannot get a good rogue deck working in constructed... definitely my weakest class. The 1/2 weapon power sorta sucks for me, it doesn't kill anything, and I have a ton of trouble taking board control when I go first and the opponent gets the coin and plays the first minion. I feel there's a large lack of (mass) removal options for me, and perhaps ranked too high to play a non-competitive set of rogue cards (in masters now), I just can't win with my rogue card set... oh well. It's funny because I remember reading how great the class is for board control, but I'm not seeing what the good options are for if you can't take it on your first turn and need to get it back.

For example I just faced that 1/3 guy who draws a card if it takes damage, and they put a +2/+2 taunt spell on it, making it 3/5 taunt + draw a card when damaged, on the second turn. I don't think there's any good 2 cost card to counter that in my deck, besides the owl, which I didn't have... so I poisoned my 1/2 weapon to a 3/2 and he got 2 cards out of the damage.

Copy the KOTH#4 list. It's just infinite 2 for 1s.

Backstab x2
Deadly Poison x2
Argent Squire x2
Betrayal
Eviscerate x2
Bloodmage Thanos (Optional but nice)
Defias Ringleader x2
Novice Engineer x2
Edwin Van Cleef
Harvest Golem x2
Shattered Sun Cleric x2
SI:7 Agent x2
Dark Iron Dwarf x2
Defender of Argus x2
Azure Drake x2
Sylvanas Windrunner
Argent Commander x2

You're aggressive. Can drop damage from offboard to gain advantage in all different types of ways. Enjoy.

Legendaries aren't essential here, but nice to have.

Edit: Beaten by Kirblar.

Constructed can be so much fun at times. Played against a Shaman that had Sylvanas, Ysedra and Cairne, all played in this sequence. He managed to swarm me easily, and none of my AOE spells showed up during the entire match. Ugh

Still no great answer in that deck to a turn 1 Acolyte of Pain followed by a turn 2 Mark of the Wild without giving away 2 or more free cards and inflicting damage on yourself.

Again: Druid is weak as fuck without a most of the class cards. Lost 3 in a row trying to make a deck work, but it just won't happen when the only cards outside the basic set I have for him are 2x Nourish and 1x Power of the Wild. Disgusting.

And yeah a wave of invites definitely did go out, I got a key in my email now, after someone already gave me one. Undecided on what I do with it yet.

Acolyte of Pain is turn 2 at the earliest no?

And you're still thinking like a control player. You don't care about giving them cards. You're going to just kill them.

I was playing Druid tonight, and yeah, I agree. Considering hero cards are what define a deck and work to fill the heroes' theme weakness, Druid is the one that lacks the most from the beginning.

Probably talking about Innervate.

But then that's 3 cards of theirs against 2+ cards of yours, so it's an ok trade.

Druid Dark Ritual BS is pretty difficult for any class to deal with. It's not the norm, so don't worry about it.

It's also a 1 in a million combination, which is not really what you build decks to combat. You go for consistent wins, not toolboxes that can answer every possible scenario. Fortunately, as stated above, Druids are kinda weak anyways, so you don't have to face their occasional nut draws, in any form, that often.

Look like I got a code through the official sign up, despite the fact that I got in via a contest ages ago. (Before the wipe even)

Any of the regulars in this thread still in need of a key? I'd love for it to go to a good home and not get sold or scalped or something else lame.

I have a friend who could use one, but I'll only take it if a Gaffer doesn't need it.

I mention this in the Buy/Sell/Trade Thread, but I have a hearthstone beta key, anyone know what that is worth? maybe as much as the xcom expansion?

That is a really, really specific combo. But hey, if you're that paranoid about it, there's always

Just run two ironbeaks if you're worried about that combo, and agressively mulligan for them.

And here I was thinking the RNG gods were always against me....

I moused over them first and proceeded to flip out and go insane. Figured I'd buy a pack with gold instead of arena, believe I made the right choice lol.

Haha he just showed me that pack on skype. I've never seen a more insane pack lol. (Did see a pack with a legendary and a golden legendary in it on the hs forums though. Rest were commons. Not sure if I'd go with the legendary, golden legendary, 3 commons or double legendary, epic, and double rare)

@Minsc

While I know it doesn't cover your current problem, I love the Spiteful Smith for Rogue. Maybe I've just been lucky but it has worked great for me.

No idea what to say about the other stuff though, just throwing it out there.

I think Blizzard more than succeeded in creating an accessible card game, because I've only put a few hours into it and already understand what all of those do. Congrats!

That's more legendaries and epics than I've received in my last 5 packs.

I hate you :P

Last 5 packs? This last pack had more legendaries than all my packs I ever opened so far lol. Had about 1 legendary in 25 packs opened roughly so far, then this megaton dropped. I feel like it's blizz's way of making it up to me, got stomped in arena (2 guys had god hands to start). Course in that pack I get a useless rare, so I tell myself I'll just use gold to get packs. Justified. RNG in this game is both frustrating and amazing lol.

I've seen one:

One of my buddies opened this insanity.

Man I have a new mage deck I want to try, but the game keep dc'ing whenever I throw spells. Never experienced this before

Well, I did get Nat Pagle not too long ago, so there's that. I guess that counts as a legendary =S
