Don't knock Hafu, Reckful or Kripp. Those three are pretty solid and can give Trump trouble.
I know that, but I don#t think depth is necessarily good if it's cumbersome. That's what it looks like to me at this point. I also know it's in Alpha state which is why I would not recommend to play it now. Maybe later but don#t fork out 50 bucks for it. Duel of Champions is right now a good alternative that is completely free.
I have to say that I am pretty excited for that Blizzcon tournament. That can be seen by anyone right? I don't have to invest in that virtual ticket?
I take it there is gonna be a Hearthstone Blizzcon tournament? That's probably the only tournament I'll actually be interested in, but Hearthstone is fun to watch. I was never a fan of watching StarCraft 2 tournaments oddly enough.
EDIT: Just saw the bracket. Yeah, I'm definitely watching the Hearthstone tournaments. I got the Blizzcon tickets so I may as well see as much as I can.
Unfortunately half the people aren't even good at Hearthstone.
Yeah, I saw Day [9] on there. He seems like a good guy, but he's not very good at Hearthstone...
I watched totalbiscuit play a few matches last night.... It wasn't very good, and I haven't even played the game myself yet.
Yeah, as a MTG player I sometimes would feel like tearing my hair out at some of the moves I've seen streamers play.
I'm not trying to call out Day [9] specifically though - he was the only streamer I recognized while glancing at the bracket.

Funny thing about that is he does a MTG video series for the Geek & Sundry Youtube channel.
Day9 is a solid player, but I think his strengths lie more in analysis and community relations. I have no doubt he could be a great Hearthstone player, but the random factor of the game perhaps works against him.
There are all sorts of players. I used to play Magic and even got my invite to the PTQ back when it was still pretty new. I was a terrible constructed player though because I was more interested in trying new things or theme decks instead of trying to perfect existing decks. I did really well in sealed deck / booster drafts though which is what I qualified with.
So Arena costs gold or cash, can you earn gold continuously in-game or at some point are you forced to pay if you want to play?
If you win enough in arena you can make back the entry fee in gold, but that means winning 6 or more matches per arena.
Probably going to take me a while to work up to that, my stellar LLWL initial streak does not fill me with confidenceSeems you can also earn gold slowly by winning ranked and doing the quests, which appear to be be daily?
Is there some kind of stamina or other limiter to how much you play each day ?
Hmmm, checked my e-mail today, looks like I got a legit invite to the closed beta? Will check my B.net account later to be sure.
No, but you generate really low amounts of gold per match it seems
45 wins to play arena once10 per 3 wins is pretty reasonable. Especially compared to the 5 gold per 5 wins it was at before. I still think it's pointless to spend gold on anything but the arena, though. Guranteed pack of cards + 4 other rewards for only 50 gold more than a pack of cards is just a much better deal.
I am pretty happy with all the changes they've made except the extreme nerfs to rogue (granted rogue was OP, but, I think they might have overdone it). My only real wish at this point was some incentive to do ranked matches outside of simple bragging rights. Seems like it would be a great opportunity to reward gold based on where you rank.

45 wins to play arena once
30 wins to get a single booster
A game is what, 15 minutes? Assuming 50% win rate that's 10 hrs of grinding so I can play arena
5 for 5 wins was pretty damn terrible I agree.
Well there were some datamined strings that point to ranked matches being rewarding in future.
VO_INNKEEPER_TOURNY_END_15 - The Weekly Tournament has ended!
VO_INNKEEPER_TOURNY_END1_27 - Your medal has reset, so you can earn new medals and packs again this week!
VO_INNKEEPER_UNRANKED_16 - Unranked play won't affect your rating, but you also won't be eligible for prizes.
VO_INNKEEPER2_TOURNEY_XWIN_17 - Win enough games against real players, and I'll give you an Expert Pack!
VO_INNKEEPER2_TOURNEY_MAX_18 - You've earned the maximum amount of Expert Packs this week.
Has anybody gotten a key from PCGamesN yet?

I'm just guessingMost matches don't come close to 15 minutes for me.
Im in the beta and really enjoy it but im a complete noob to card games. Has anyone got any links to some good tutorials or guides?
Been trying all night trying to login to pcgamesn, need to have some chance of playing this lol
I'm not in the beta yet, but Hearthpwn seems a pretty good resource so far.

I wish there was a spectator mode in which you can choose to watch one side, because it would be the best way to give you an idea on what to do. Let me know which class you're looking to play and I can give you a basic rundown of what to do.

But it essentially comes down to correct resource usage and situational card usage.
One example would be to save cards that might be useful later on even if you have enough resources to play them.
If you have a 1 cost spell card that deals damage, and you pull it first turn, don't feel compelled to use it on the opponents hero even if its your only option. Its better to pass the turn then to waste the card for the small amount of damage you will get with it. Same idea happens late game too. Save those spells and instant damage cards for allies.
You also want to create decks that have good early game goals. Adding a ton of high cost allies may be good for the end game, but will cost you when a dire 4th turn card draw is an 7 cost ally because you have too many in your deck.
Check it. For the 30 card deck, a good ratio of card costs should look something like this.
1-3 cost: 14-16 cards
4-5 cost: 6-12 cards
6 cost: 3-5
7 cost: 2-4
8 cost: No more than 2
Good luck!
