So... I just found out about this game and while I don't like WoW, I am a huge fan of TCGs like Magic and Yugioh. From what I gathered so far it is a mix of both. Looks awesome.

Might be a stupid question but any good ways to get in the beta? I am so itching to play (have been watching streams for 3 hours nonstop now and don't plan to stop anytime soon).

Buy a key.

Sell your body for a key.

Enroll at Blizzard website Battle.net and register your computer specs as well as what beta you want to opt in to and pray to all the Gods.
(Only do this option if you are really desperate since it nearly never works)
 
God damn it! There is an Ebay auction here in Germany where a Hearthstone key is at 200€ and it's still 17 hours until it's over. Ridiculous.

I updated my beta profile already but I don't count on it. Where would you be able to buy keys at more importantly at what price are they going atm?

Started playing this yesterday. Great, great fun. I've never really played card games like this before but it does a great job of easing you into it, and the little tutorial you get at the start is presented very well. I've been unlocking the various classes in practice mode and customising my mage deck. The various spells you get are very cool and it's really satisfying to use one to completely neutralise an enemy attack or do some huge damage to the other hero. Never thought I'd like a card game but damn, this is really really fun.

(garrosh can kiss my ass tho)
 
I think I need to work on restructuring my deck or thinking about the end game more. The last few matches I've started off GREAT. Whittling down the other guys minions and getting in a few knocks here and there - but then the match always ends up with me being down to one minion, while the other guy has 3-4. I'll have him down to 5-8 health but can finish him off because I don't have any minions ready to go.

Should've sold my key, I'm already tired of it. Would probably be a different story if this beta was available on mobile or tablets.

I think sitting at a computer playing a card game is anti fun.

I'm imagining a version where the game board is a tablet and my phone is my hand. With local play. Or just local phone versus.

Maybe some day.

Is it just me, or does the beta seem extremely exclusive? From asking around and just visiting multiple gaming forums, not many people seem to have got invited. I know it's closed beta, just seemed unusual for a Blizzard game.

I was honestly shocked to get into the beta considering this.
 
I just think the amount of users is equal to that of most beta, the problem is the amount of people that want to get in.

The fact that keys easily go for 250$ is pretty ridiculous. If you get lucky with a key you were pretty much given a big load of money. I really can't believe people are willing to pay that kind of money for the beta of a free game.

any of you guys playing the beta had already spent real money to buy cards and arena tickets?

if so which is the ratio? 20% cards 80% arena?

Yeah pretty much, I had no idea that it was extreme. There was someone who posted on one of my friend's gaming forum, saying that he was selling a Hearthstone beta key. I offered $25, he just straight called me a retard.

I mean damn, I thought $25 was was pretty steep itself just for beta key to a card game.

I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope I a beta key or someone I know does. If anything, if I somehow do get a key of my own, I'll throw up my account info to some trusted GAF members just to try it out.

Honestly I think that any amount of money > $10 is too much

Ah that is the one class I don't know well other than I feel they are underpowered. I doubt I've lost more than 5 matches to a paladin as a hunter/rogue/priest/mage, but I'm only 2 star diamond so I'm not sure.

I've spent 8 bucks on arena. It's 2 bucks per play. There is little point to spending money on packs as the amount of gold and dust you get on top of the pack from playing arena usually makes up for the 50 cents (minimum pack buy is 2 for $3) even if you go 0-3. However when it goes live I'm not sure if I'm going to spend my credit on packs to get a jump start in ranked or do arena when so many new players who don't get it will be playing for some easy wins.
 
I got invited in the first wave, if only I knew how much keys would be going for at the time I would have sold it instead. And I don't even play because I'm waiting for the wipe.
 
They left Messaging open for 10mins - if you are like me and send the message in the first 10s you are screwed - your Message probably got pushed out of their inbox by all the others coming in later.
This whole affair is so depressing...
 
I just don't understand why they keep giving keys away on facebook but they are not doing it anymore on twitter.

OK here's a question, I play MTG often enough, MTG online. Is this a very casual game compared to MTG?

Also, will the game be incorporated into the MMO, didn't Everquest do something like that?
 
Finally a key. It sounds like alot of people had succes by messaging them LONG after their contest closed. While they were distributing the keys. This allowed you to get your message up in their inbox. And I've literally seen 10 people who got a key this way, whereas I previously never saw anyone who did.

Yeah, well. you can still do it right now. A minute ago some guy posted that it worked for him aswell. I think that's a total of 15 now.

I've followed all of their rules, but I don't think they even know themselves what they are doing. Oh well. Atleast now bots don't get it. The bots are at the botting of their inbox because they are so fast.

I've been trying this, but still have yet for one of the staff to actually read any of my messages. I find it awesome that even if they've turned off messaging, if you've done so already you can keep doing so like they haven't turned it off.

Sincerely hoping for this to happen. I'd LOVE a code this way, though I'd lightly hate myself for it while playing and streaming it.
 
Wow. Apparently PC Gamer had 350 keys and they ran it in a way that you could grab them till they were gone. Result, some people getting 10-15 of them. And now selling them.

They will have more later this week, but obviously the secret is out. Bleh.

They should have done like Gamereactor did. There it was only possible to get 1 per IP.
 
Been playing all night. Kind of sucked that you had to do all the tutorial stuff. I didn't see a skip button. Played some arena. highest I got was 7-3. Losing too much gold. Have to work in the morning, must sleep.
 
I think it's about time publishers figured out a better way to get people into betas than keys, the system's always open to such a huge amount of abuse.
