God, why is Sony still releasing these old shots of HS? This is the first time some of them are online, but they're all from the pre-E3 magazine coverage.

I do still like this shot though, I'm glad it's online finally:

Prologue:The following is not a critique of the PS3 in any way shape or form. It is not even directed AT the PS3, this image just provides a convenient example of what I'm talking about.

Okay...now that that is out of the way, why is it that developers seem unable to use this form of shadow technology and get things to line up properly on the floor. I've noticed this time and time again. Graw does it, lord of the rings does it, splinter cell does it (although a bit less noticeably), nearly every game I've seen use this shadow technology (instead of stencil shadows ala doom 3) exhibits this problem. Is there some technical reason why they can't line up? I'd almost guess it was a shadow resolution problem, but that doesn't explain it fully as the seperation between body and shadow often appears to be much larger than the width of each shadow "pixel". Can anyone explain this phenomenon?

There is an explanation, but it escapes me right now. You're right, it is pretty common with this shadowing technique.

But..you should check out footage from E3 itself. I'm looking at it now and they seem to have fixed that. Shadows look firmly attached to objects ;)

Looking at it again has reminded me how much better it looked at E3 itself versus this older official media. It's really gorgeous :)

Staggering in its beauty, this is the game that will render me a believer in "next-gen." TGS, where new locales will be unveiled, cannot come soon enough.

Hopefully they got rid of it, although it is harder to spot in motion that stills, which I suppose is a good thing. It seems like it would be as easy as just telling the graphics engine to push the shadows a little to the left, but i guess there's more to it than that.

When next gen detail and visuals is all too frightening detailed!

Those nipples aren't just normal mapped but actual 3D geometry to boot!

But what happened to her feet?

Edit: Oops, beaten.

Hopefully we'll see some new locale soon, I can't wait to see the battalion battles, that will be sweet. ~_~

I'm slowly coming around to this title again after being put off a few months ago when it really didn't turn out as I had hoped. Still looks like it has a lot of room for improvement, but this screen (see below) has me wanting more more more. If there is some sort of very open platforming on something like that it would be pure gold.

They look like hoofs...plus there's clipping with the leg, the guy's shoulder and shield are going through the table, filled with jaggies, not great textures, the characters lack any true detail, and it's 30 fps. Decent lighting, but what will happen to the graphics when massive battles are added?

shhhhhhhh, it's staggering in its beauty, and it will make you believe that kratos would have been a better character if he had tits and red twi'lek things.

As Warhammer Online will inevitably suffer from the perception it is copying WoW, when the reality is the reverse, I do believe development of HS began well before GOW was even a concept on the drawing board, though I suppose you could make the argument they saw it release and then tried to copy it...

You people really like to nitpick stupid shit. The angle+lighting made for a weird shot of her boots in that particular screenshot.

Her boots/feet look fine to me. :P

I really don't think they set out to copy GOW but that doesn't change they're both games where you run around chopping up stuff with chain sword things.

Thank god they released some concept images or else I would have expected GAF to throw their usual "Bad Art" fit. Usually all those "Bad Art" games have some of the best conceptual artwork around-- good to see HS getting its propers.

Which is ofcourse only 1 of her weapons.

This literally reads like a PR statement. :lol

It does look great, but the wording is pretty funny.
