Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice - Official Trailer

Looks stunning, I'm buying this day one.

Strange trailer though, just-about audible, deep voiced narration, little bit unnerving, I'm guessing this was done purposefully?

Yeah one of the game's ambitions is to effectively but appropriately convey mental illness. Seems like they've done a good job.

I tried like 5 times and gave up. I get it's supposed to sound demonic but that audio could really do with being a little easier to pick up. Looks interesting however.

Haven't watched it for fear of spoilers (and I've already pre-ordered it anyway, even though I usually never pre-order games) but I'm still starting to get really hyped for it. And it's cool that they're giving PS4 Pro players the choice between graphics and performance.

The game is only $30 USD and no physical copy?? #Crying

It's insane that this is the first game that used performance capture and it still holds up that well. O_o

Anyway, they announced that the game is now gold.

Been a really fun ride following this game over the years. Visually one of the best looking games this year. Don't see anything besides Injustice 2 this year that can top that facial animation.

Looks beautiful but my hot-take was that if this was a movie it wouldn't appeal to me*, and as a game nothing was shown to grab my interest.

*It just seems too one-note "grim dark". I'm yet to see one thing shown that makes me actually empathize with Senua, which is a critical fail as if there's no emotional connection the value of her sacrifice is going to be nil.

I'm just trying to articulate why despite finding the visuals and presentation so impressive I find myself completely ambivalent to the whole. I feel like I should be excited by it, yet...

Well... The whole premise of the game is "hell" and the POV from of a woman with a mental illnes (psychosis)

You could look more into it from the Gameinformer HUB and the developer diaries.

With the auditory hallucinations, and Senua's constant visualizations of patterns of light, I'm convinced she's a schizophrenic and that everything is in her head.

I hope that's not the case.

I love everything about this game and seeing their design process on their YouTube channel has been awesome. Really, really impressive what they've done with a small group and a lot of ingenuity.

Also fun to note that this trailer was probably put together by Ninja Theory's video editor who happens to be the actress for Senua.

DmC had okay combat, Heavenly Sword terrible, and Enslaved... it's been awhile so I don't remember. I did get to the end.

I was on the fence about this but after getting on that Amazon gift card thing I'll definetly give this a go now if only to support what it represents.

It has? I haven't been following this super closely. Thanks tho.

IIRC, she's suffering from psychosis. Not everything is a hallucination, though. She really is a Celtic warrior, there really was a Viking attack, etc. She just perceives the world around her in a different, somewhat distorted way. They've worked with mental health experts and people who've actually lived/are actually living with mental health issues to make sure that their portrayal of psychosis is accurate.

Somewhat boring trailer and the voice over sucks. Still don't know what to expect from the game. I usually don't like Ninja Theory games very much. They have their bright moments but overall they have too many issues.

Can we expect a lot of fighting with a solid battle system from this game or will it be more of a "experience"?

Trailer's good but this has me more excited. Good Pro support is always appreciated.

I'm ashamed to say that I know very little about this game .. is this a Souls-like or a more 'traditional' third person action like Enslaved/DmC ?
