Helldivers |OT| Everybody Fights, Nobody Quits.

The mind control fuckers suck.

I wish there was some way to fight it. You could be nearly a screen away and they can still snag you, and then, welp, you get to watch yourself die in one of a thousand ways. Drained my will to fight entirely because they just kept on appearing and *bloop* taking me over.

Nah its like 3/4 of the screen. I can dodge it unless its a snow planet, in which case I run the opposite way and hope a teammate in a mech kills him.

I did helldive with a team though. We agreed on a 3 mech protect 1 strategy.

Basically, we'll do the black box/power cores first. 3 mechs will shoot the shit out of everything while the lone person will carry the blackbox/power cores, either to the bottom of a ravine or the nearest bunker.

Survivors? "They died of hypothermia by the time we got to them Admiral!"

Once the black boxes/power cores/survivors are "done", we just ride along and shoot everything in sight, hohoho-ing all the way.

Like Batman, use prep-time.

Bring exos, vehicles and personal shields. All of them prevent the mind control.

I wasn't using my mech so that I could deliver the package with my SMG. I'd run from them when I could, and either get mind-controlled anyway - or they'd teleport in front of me and mind control me then - or else they'd mind control me, kill me, I'd get dropped back in and they'd mind control me once I was out of the pod and kill me again. There was enough of a loop of death, mind control, death, mind control, death, mind control that I said fuck it and quit out. Just not a fan of those kind of mechanics.

Can you get in an APC while holding the package?

Just got all of the stratagem. :D

I just need the rest of the weapons and to level everything up fully.

I love this game

Players really need to learn to instinctively prep a respawn beacon as soon as someone dies, without even looking at the prompts. Last night on a hell dive mission, with 5 seconds left to shuttle landing, three of us die and the last dude decides to kite the enemies without calling a respawn beacon. The idiot walks right into a thunder barrage.

If it makes you feel any better, I watched someone attempt to melee a tank. He died...

No.

Facing them on foot alone is not worth it, never mind while carrying a case and a SMG. Best bet is to drop the case, run and lure them away with a beacon. Or like many have said drop the case in a hole.

A mech escort makes short work of the mind control unit. Burst of machine gun and one rocket is enough with a mk3 exo.

So ... How do you unlock the UAV.. What level do you get it at? Was is a limited time special item only?

I honestly can't remember. It must be one of the early planet rewards. Just browse the galaxy map until you find the correct planet, then do all the missions on it.

Holy crap! Aren't the UAV and the camper part of the ranger pack and exclusive to first 2 week purchases or something?

Woah the game really changes for you if you don't have the UAV.

I don't really remember but I think I started with the UAV. I know the Camper was part of the Ranger pack but was the UAV part of it as well?

So my girlfriend bought helldivers when it came out as she is the one with the ps-plus membership, I've been able to play online due to the console being her primary ps4. It seems that the two 'day one' items (The scout drone and the sniper rifle) can only be accessed through her account and not mine.

According to the dev forums it's locked to her account server-side which is a bit annoying does anyone know if there is a way around this or if they've heard of a fix in an upcoming patch?

It might be locked to the account that purchased the game. Does the Camper still show up in the armory? If so, you might be able to unlock it once you reach a certain rank.

They both show up in the armory but have a blue padlock icon over them. I should get her to play it more maybe if she unlocks them on her character other accounts can use them.

They should already be unlocked on her account. I was able to equip that gear right from the start. If you're seeing blue padlocks, you may just have to rank up. I don't know what rank they require.

Level 17 and it's a drag trying to level just playing with randoms.

Every once in awhile I'll get a room of good ones but still boring when they don't have mics.

Sometimes I set my game to private, drop with 2 ammos, 1 railcannon and a UAV on a lvl 5 bug planet, and alert every patrol I see.

Then I go full on starship troopers.

I'm a bit sad that FF Type 0 is coming out tomorrow. I really wanted to reach level 25 and take part in recapturing a homeworlds, but alas level 21 and tomorrow may be the end of the line. Maybe I'll be able to come back to this in a few months after I'm done with Bloodborne, but it seems unlikely given the onslaught of good games coming out this year.

I really wanted to platinum it too, especially after getting the Danmaku trophy basically for free, which I thought was going to be the hardest one. In case you're wondering, I joined an in progress game on Hell Dive which was at the extraction point. I didn't get hit during that 1 minute because they had previously thrown up distraction beacons

Same system or cross-gen? Sometimes it helps if you both back completely out of the game (close application) and then both reconnect. Sometimes.

PS4 online.

First we only see eachother as 'online' but are unable to join. And when it says 1/4 Helldivers, the teleport boot fails.

Yeah, its a pretty common bug. Best advice is still to both back completely out, close the program (dashboard >> option key >> close application), then start up fresh. I'm assuming you both have the latest patch.

Barring that, no clue. Since the latest patch, other than the occasional drop during a mission, the MP networking has seemed pretty solid.

Edit: ^^ Waiting a minute or two after closing might also be helpful

BAD IDEA.

One person should agree to host. He stays on the bridge as soon as he logs in and doesn't do anything. Not even change the orbit. Also recommended to temporarily set it to friends only.

Everyone else just refresh until you see him on your friends list and try to join from there. If it fails try restarting the game. The host should NEVER restart as that introduces different instances of log ins into the system and causes the no connection error message.

Also i think illusionists need 2 railcannons. Possibly more if the shield completely blocks the railcannon. My previous testing might have struck the damn thing after it had already taken damage and had its shield taken off.

For illuminates, I recommend one guy who carries the shield or jump pack (snow planet) and the cardio (to outrun the illusionist orbs, replaced with displacement if in snow planet), using the double freedom and has 2 mechs that is the designated carrier, or maybe a wep. Everyone else should bring 2 mechs and a shield. One guy should carry a distractor. Another guy carries the UAV. Last guy carries the shredder.

Drop a distractor first thing and run the fuck away. Drop shields and mechs after a while, taking care not to destroy each other's shit. Then have fun shooting the shit out of things as you carry stuff to the bunker. See beacons? Shredder that shit.

When i'm doing a solo missions y just empty my shotgun on them if possible, if not, i try to bring the personal shield.

I always use resupply pack and shotgun on solo, such a good combo. Personal shield also works with the static field conductors.

Played a little bit of it the other night with some friends. It was fun enough but HOLY COW, there was clearly some baggage that persisted between play sessions.
