Heroes of Might and Magic III - HD Edition announced. PC and Tablets.

You've gotta wonder why they had to redraw it since all those were originally 3d models that should've been archived along the source code and rerenderable at higher res, but I guess no one was really in charge of archival at NWC.

New World Computing went out of business before Ubisoft bought the license, so I imagine those assets are long gone.

King's Bounty is more of a straight RPG, there is no town building elements in KB.

EDIT: Just found this.

Oh wow.

I get it Ubi, the HD version will be looking better than the original.

But be so kind and don't treat potential customers like idiots. There's no need to downgrade the original graphics (lol, this even sounds stupid) to make that point.

Oh wow I guess the reason why there's no expansions (or will ever be to this HD edition) is that Ubisoft never got the rest of the source code.

"Community team note: But why only RoE? To understand the origin of the project and its development we need to go back to 2003. At that time we asked New World Computing to retrieve their archives for all the Might & Magic titles. We found tons of documentation and data but regarding Heroes III we had nothing but the usable source code of Heroes III Restoration of Erathia."

Don't worry, they'll "find" the source code a few months after this comes out and release the expansions separately as DLC.

Will there be a way for me to buy the game on the Play Store and sideload it to my phone?

Come on Ubisoft I wanna give you my money. :(

Every time I notice this thread, I think it's for a new Might and Magic RPG. Eternal disappointment.

As for HOMM3 HD, I think the base game still looks great with a resolution/widescreen mod. The new screens might not even be an improvement. Pure cash grab.

Cool. I'd like to say I'll pick this up, but I still have my copy of HoMM 3 Complete and have hundreds of hours put into it. Not sure I need it again.

If you haven't played it though I consider it a must own.

Didn't really expect the PC "upgrade" to be very meaningful but I'm really curious how the tablet port is. I've wanted HOMM3 on my tablet ever since I got one.

Have anyone been brave enough to buy the iOS version from the App store today?

if anybody has that. I would like to know if you can change the speed in battles and on the world map?

because in the app store trailer they have it on the slowest speed. And i cant play the game with that speed.

This seems to be the consensus. Cheaper, more content, and the only downside is you're stuck with the old graphics.

Also lack of online.

Would still go for the Complete Edition though, add the HD mod and WOG and you got yourself a package.

Stupid question, but how do you right click in this game (HD) when playing on a tablet.. holding down does nothing

Wondering the same thing

Some of the touch controls are really wierd and hard to use.

Melee combat in battles is a pain. And checking artifacts
