Heroes - Suda51's Wii title, first footage

There's no way this could be a brand new engine, could it? I suppose it could be, although it'd be pointless considering they are trying to acheive the same effects (with better lighting, of course). I think they have a lot going on, so they might want to go the cheaper route... but Killer 7 is a good looking game, all they need is to dust up some of the aliasing.

Agreed. But I'm sure he said opposite in Edge a few months back. Of course, he could have changed his mind :)

Everything about the Travis Touchdown character was terrible, but the rest was pretty cool. Killer 7 was pretty weak though, so hopefully this one is better, and more open.

There we go, just needed some Quicktime upgrading, yea it certainly looks like it is cut from the cloth of Killer 7(11). I am also hoping that it ditches the ack basswords contol scheme and that we get to use the lightsaber weapon.

Sylvia Cristel? Is Suda a fan of the Emmanuelle movies? :lol

Just looks like Killer 8 like everyone else says. Eh I guess it'll probably be cooler with the wiimote.

:O

looks GOOD!! :D :D news of the day for me (asides from the TMNT trailer)

Killer 9 FTW! but add more replay value this time Suda 51 :(

So who the heck is going to publish this game? Capcom is through with Grasshopper, right? Maybe they can trick Atlus or Majesco. They publish everything.

:lol That's what I was thinking. Game looks really nice though. Other than the voice acting which sounds like they went and tracked down the voice actors from SoTN.

Hm, Travis? Like the Killer 7 I-tell-you-shit Travis? Would be cool, if he will get an appearance in Heroes. Like a cameo or something, still alive and without any connection to the Killer 7 universe/game.

Travis Touchdown? The voicework?

God damnit Japanese people, STOP BEING ****ING RETARDED

IT WOULD BE SO, SO, SO, SO EASY TO HIRE ****ING FIVE PEOPLE FROM AMERICA FOR LIKE TWO DAYS TO ADVISE YOU ON WHAT SHIT IS STUPID AND WHAT SHIT IS ****ING RETARDED

Tommy Vardell, a profession Fullback, is nicknamed Touchdown Tommy.

I actually think the voice acting is supposed to sound "cheesy". At least for the character Travis touchdown. I am sure there are more characters that sound totally different.

The game is being published by Marvelous and/or Spike in Japan. I imagine that they're already arranging North American publishing. They must have some good contacts at Atlus after Contact on DS.

that sounds like an excuse to spend very little money on your voice acting budget ;)

I just hope it's not on rails. Killer 7 had some of the worst controls of any game I've played in the last generation. I imagine they'd try to recapture some of it, Wiimote seems like a natural fit for the games aiming mechanic.
Really. As someone who doesn't play many action games I found Killer 7 to be very smooth, and not at all annoying. The on rails actually kept me from getting frustrated with the game and it's one of the few action games I've beaten, and would play again.

Yes. It's absolutely terrible - any number of superior approaches that would have worked infinitely better. If it's one of the few action games you've beaten, though, I can't help you there :lol

The story sounds similar to Seijun Suzuki's movie Pistol Opera.
The hell. I was about to post about how it sounded just like Branded to Kill but you beat me to it. Pistol Opera's a sequel to it?? How did I not know this. I'm ashamed!

Where did you get info on the story?
At the end of the trailer the girl tells him to aim for the top of the hitman pops, doesn't she? I assume that's the plot of the game.

Eh, I liked it just as. My action game of the generation, to be sure! :D

Yeah, I'd like a little better gameplay engine in this one so that the art style, mise en scene, and story don't have to carry the whole game. We know that's going to be absolutely incredible.

I got a feeling the VAs are probably placeholders... the voice acting in Killer 7 was pretty good.

Wow ;) It was a novel attempt, to be sure, but there's just too many obstacles to quality. I think, for one, it would be a bit better if you didn't absolutely need to scan enemies to shoot them, and if turning was much faster in shoot mode, and if you could strafe a bit, because although I realize it made cinematic camera angles better there's no way a trained hitman would stay in the same solitary line with 8 people coming at him in front and behind ;)

ALSO, the game desperately needed a 'quick change' option for the personalities... it sucked pausing the game, going into the menu and changing it every time

One of the biggest triumphs of K7 was being on rails. The game not only broke through barriers of graphical, audio and story traditional conceptions. It also broke with estrablished gaming formulas. The fact that it was on rails created an atmosphere where no matter how big the scenario was, you´d never get lost. Thus refraining from the stupid exploration found in most action games, where there´s a whole world to explore and so little to find. If something, I think it needed a more dynamic change between first and third person mode. With the Wiimote this should be easily solved.

But I don´t hink Suda51 is repeating the same gaming formula anyway.

Same here. At least in my opinion, Killer 7's voice acting is up there along with Eternal Darkness and Psychonauts. I expect the same for this one.

Agreed! What's the point of all the freedom in the early Resident Evil games when there's only one drawer you can open in a given room?

I'd forgotten that Branded had a similar plot. Pistol Opera is pretty new, so you're forgiven for missing it. Worth checking out if you're a fan, though. Cool to see that Suda 51 is looking to Suzuki for inspiration.

Rails aren't that bad. I've never played K7, but Sin and Punishment anyone? That game kicked all amounts of ****ing ass.
