Heroes - Suda51's Wii title, first footage

Same here. At least in my opinion, Killer 7's voice acting is up there along with Eternal Darkness and Psychonauts. I expect the same for this one.

Yeah, it's weird how many people have forgotten that. Also, didn't killer 7 originally have really terrible voice acting? I remember hearing complaints about that, and you can sometimes pick out words in travis' and iwazaru's gibberish. I assume those are crappy voice tracks with some sort of filter applied.

Killer 7 was weird in that the controls were to all intents and purposes a bit broken, but I didn't really mind. Got used to it fairly quickly, and in some ways it added to the general ****ed-up-ness of the game. Also being able to just hold A and just flicking in a direction when the choose-your-path bits came up did keep the game flowing along nicely.

You just sort of got into a zone with Killer 7, not unlike Rez in a weird way.

That's not to say I wouldn't like to see how it would have turned out with more conventional controls, but if Heroes is more of the same I wouldn't mind that either.

I don't see the problem with rails when hardly any games these days use it. It made K7 an extremely fresh departure from the conventional action game, and despite being on rails, K7 still offers a nice amount of exploration.

That's true... I'm also forgetting that Killer 7's engine + the Wiimote = ridiclously awesome light gun game. A similar type game would feel a lot deeper with those controls. Not to mention all the other waggle stuff you can add.

Update: due to an overwhelming number of responses, and more visitors than we could imagine, we will be posting a higher resolution between now and tomorrow. Check back with The Wiire for the footage. And please, remind all the other sites nabbing our video that it's wrong to steal.

Hooray. I can´t wait to see beyong those pixels :D

looks amazing

i personally loved killer7. i hope this is also on rails, the wii controller lends itself perfectly to that play style. you wouldnt even need the nunchuck.

you gotta love TREASURE :)

Not to derail (ho ho!) the thread, but gotta wonder if Treasure are up to anything with Wii. Treasure of old would have loved it, but they aren't as experimental as they used to be so don't know whether to expect anything out of them or not.

Yup, the original voice acting for the first K7 trailers weren't as good as the ones on the final product. And I think you hit the nail on the head with the Travis and Iwazaru's odd voice filtering... in fact, only the ''spirits'' (Remnant Psyches) spoke with these voices.

I need this game like I need air to breathe. Killer7 was a ****ing awesome game, and I can't wait for heroes. Wii is starting to look REAL good.

Jeezus, at least Killer 7 had originality going for it.....this looks and sounds like it could be a cutscene that got left out of the game.

So now they're plagiarizing their own work? Stop the presses! :lol

Seriously now... I think their style is just way too distinctive, you can't deny it's ''From The Same Guys Who Brought You Killer 7".

Definately looks better than anything Killer7 ever managed (including the first movie which looked substantially better than the final game). Only time will see if the same will follow with this game...

Looks like Wii can pack something after all. As long as it's cell-shaded. :P

 I just mean for a team that did something so original in look, feel, sound, etc. I'm disappointed the aesthetic looks exactly the same. Then again the style is about the only part of K7 I liked; hopefully the gameplay is dramatically different...

lol the voice acting kinda reminds me of Sega.... oh they are so classic.......
I knew those VF voice actors somehow scammed other jobs somewhere....

I actually think the voice acting is supposed to sound "cheesy".
Maybe, but I will never enjoy deliberately awful voice work even if it is bad on purpose.

Anyways, the trailer looks great, compression artifacts aside.

i think we can complain about Killer 7 legitimately in a lot of ways, and this too will probably net many complaints...

...but generic? Yeaah... can't see that

why is it ok for companies to release game after game in the same normal, boring style, but if grasshopper releases two unique looking games with the same style it magically becomes generic?

that was just awesome, I hope they get the same guy that did the music in Killer7 to do it in Heroes

too bad we'll have to wait 4 years to play it

It is a very small team isn't it though, 20 people or something? Can't blame them for pushing the Killer 7 style some more, especially if it's going to use the pointing aspects of the Wii's controller. Sounds like it's another hitman game, and this art style just suits the dark/twisted nature perfectly.

Like the added lighting though, and the graffitiness of the trailer as well.

I think the character names are supposed to be ironic, so dumb they're good. Kind of like when you call the biggest guy in town "Tiny"

I loved Killer 7, and this is going to be day 1 too if its anything like killer 7.

guys, anyone have a difinitive answer for me?

the trailer was in english, and based on previous interviews Suda seems very loyal to his North American fanbase, however, that being said the game is being published by Spike, who is a Japan only developer to my knowledge (?)

has there been ANY CONFIRMATION FOR AN AMERICAN RELEASE?

I think it is pretty obvious that this game will come to America

He planned on showing it at this E3, which probably means it will be coming over here.

I know, but there are always times when somethign obvious doesn't happen, like the rest of the Mother series' absence from outside of Japan.

Voice acting is a :( but everything else is a :D . Since this is just a trailer, though, it seems like it could just be placeholder voices anyway

So I guess we know nothing yet about how this plays?

Iwazaru's voice is the "whispering" voice option on OSX!

Master, we are in a tight spot!

Ha ha, I just highlighted it and got it to speak it. It is!

I'm having this as the default voice now :)

Looked uh...like an upgraded Killer 7. I'm not gonna hold my breath for this one, I'll be waiting for some gameplay videos. K7 was pretty fun in its own trippy way, but you really had to fight with the controls. Hopefully this game actually gives you control over your characters, otherwise maybe Suda51 should get a job in the anime industry or something.

Funny to see Dragona go all "WII IS TEH POWERHOUSE KILLER 7 DEUX IS THE PROOF!", though not really surprising. :P

What ? Don't you Americans like football ?
I don't know, you'd have to ask an American.

Tommy Vardell, a profession Fullback, is nicknamed Touchdown Tommy.
Maybe that's because he's a professional football player in the NFL who gets touchdowns and isn't some cel shaded jap with cartoon network afterschool voicework.

The Japanese probably can't tell the difference between bad and good english voice acting.
Which is why they should ASK SOMEONE WHO'S NOT JAPANESE AND HAS COMMON SENSE

that looked kinda dumb. The ultra-stylized stuff is starting to get generic.
i dug it more in Killer 7 because it was a more serious approach, compared to the more anime stylings of Heroes. Definitely looks interesting -- can't wait to see how this progresses.

I hope the Wiimote actually makes the developers put some thought into the controls.

Hell, just make it an on-rails light-gun shooter type of game, but make it *something*. Killer 7 was cool as shit, but I just couldn't play it because of the awkward control/gameplay.

I just wanna say for the record that the scrambled/filtered voices in K7 were filtered because they wanted them to sound more outlandish and alien.

People had problems controlling Killer7? The hell? Metal Gear must have shut down whole nuerological systems. The controls were easy as hell to get used to, and weren't that big of a deal, imo. You hold down the button to run, stop when you hear a laugh, scan, and fire away.

And, how are the stylised graphics becoming Generic? In this case, only Killer7 looks like this.... All of the other "stylised" games look different from one another.

Anyhow, this game will kick ass. Suda is the man!

I agree with this post in every possible way, even down to the puntuation!

i like the music, but that trailer is horrendously tacky -- strip those characters of their cel shading, and they could be nomura designs. i hope all those anime licenses haven't rubbed off on grasshopper, cos take killer 7's style away and you've got less than nothing.
