Hey Americans! Why do you hate vinegar so much?

I know here in America, bacon is used more as an additional flavoring more than anything. You can't actually get full off of 3 strips of bacon.

For those in other parts of the world, does the bacon come thicker and more like a proper meat that will actually make you full?

Not here in Austria. Usualy it's eaten with bread. Depending on the type of bacon, the type of bread varies. Also is great in bacon&eggs. The range is from near zero fat bacon to 95% fat bacon, from air cured only, lightly smoked to heavily smoked, extremely aromatic versions. Though you can't get those in the super market, commercial companies are too cheap and average for properly smoked and spiced bacon.

What????????? Bacon is food where I am from in the South, eat it every day. They sell thick bacon here in the states, your just not looking

Well of course it's food but it doesn't get you full at all. Like if you eat bacon and eggs, it's the eggs that are more or less filling you up. Basically the bacon is too thin and light to really do anything.

wait what?

vinegar on french fries and chicken fingers???

I've heard of some interesting food preferences from other countries, but this takes the cake. This is honestly a completely alien concept to me. why would you ruin french fries like that?

crispy seasoned fries and honey mustard is all I'll ever need.

now that I think about it, this whole "americans don't like vinegar, but brits do" thing is hogwash. another troll america thread for sure

this beer discussion is especially embarrassing. what next-- we all carry guns? Then maybe we can all share picture of our cowboy hats and spurs. It's kind of funny how European/Canadian/Australian ignorance gets a total pass.

Also! Holy shit I am jealous of you guys and your cheap beer.

12 Budweiser for $10? My god, that's got to cost at least double here. Also, got to try some Four Loko, it's illegal here in Canada. And I'm not surprised that it's illegal lol.

You're under 18, aren't you?

This is true. They do like sweet things though. Anything with extra sugar seems to taste good southern americans, in my experience.

Hell yeah, you best know whats up. Northerner's (as in, anything above Tennessee) "sweet" tea is the only thing keeping me down south. Bleagh! Also: Lemonade iced-tea > everything.

BRB. Fucking thirsty.

Northerners haven't gotten the idea of sweetening the tea while it's hot so it dissolves sugar better. When I am down South I always get the sweet tea. Up north I'll get their fruit syrup teas, like mango or raspberry, it's an acceptable difference, and shows effort.

And yeah lemonade and ice tea is indeed the superior drink. The changes, they are a comin.

Damn I'd try that. Speaking of I wonder how flavored salt is. I wanna try that bacon flavored salt now too.

In the Philippines its impossible to get non-sweet tea. Then again tea and coffee is all powders there too...

I had an ass of a time trying to explain to my girlfriend why nescafe was the devil and the joys of brewed coffee. Then again she puts fucking mayonaise on her tacos >< (not a double entendre)

Try some Baconnaise instead to bring the thread full-circle.

I dunno :x

That sounds a bit, yeah....

Though I did order some bacon gumballs because of this thread. I saw them at a novelty store and there's no way I'll pay 5 bucks for that.

So I just got back from a trip. I stopped by Detroit, Birmingham, Nashville and for the bulk of the time, New Orleans. Fucking amazing trip, New Orleans is so cool. Detroit was just as boring as the last time I went, and Birmingham and Nashville were cool, but nothing compared to nawlins.

So anyway, any restaurant I went to, there is NO vinegar to be soon. I was aware of this before, but this just re-enforced how big of a problem this is. I had chicken fingers and fries in detroit, but there was no vinegar? How am I supposed to eat chicken fingers and fries without vinegar? It's an abomination, just terrible. So plain. And Ketchup just doesn't do the job, ugh. I'm gonna have to bring a flask with vinger in it next time I go to the US.

Also when I was at the gas stations for pit stops, I didn't see any Salt and Vinegar flavoured chips? The fuck? That's the best flavour!

What's wrong with you guys!?

Chicken fingers? Put some ranch on that. I like vinegar, but chicken fingers are not a good example of a food that should be paired with vinegar.

probably because vinegar smells like sweaty ball sacks.
Yes. If buy piece of shite vinegar yes. All vinegar is not created equal. There's champagne. apple cider, malt, sherry, Chinese black vinegar, etc. White vinegar, the most common, should only be used as a cleaning agent.

i had black vinegar on fried pork dumplings tonight. that shit is delicious.

actually yes, the rest of the world does think you're weird for putting that .. stuff .. on your fried potato dish. the standards here are tomato sauce (not quite the same as ketchup), vinegar, and mayonnaise/aioli. alternatively chili sauces, hp/brown sauce, gravy etc.

the closest thing we have to ranch dressing would be some kind of aioli i suppose. frankly there is no one condiment i would favour over all others - the world of condiments is such a varied and splendiforous place, why restrict yourself to only one colour of that rainbow?

also:

:O
you jerk.

yeah, that's the problem with take out from them-- can't take vinegar to go!

on the other hand, if you eat there, you are subjected to blasting, agreeable rock/pop hits that makes it hard to hear people (at least, at the two I've been to.)

Did you ask?

Did you try a grocery store?

Oh, I never heard that before. I'm going to start ordering it by that name to see if anyone else knows what the hell it is.

So I put some vinegar on my fries and it was...AMAZING! Tastes soo good. Love you UK GAF.

I am eating vinegar chips as I type this. And a good vinegar on fries makes them heavenly, I think it cuts a little of the grease and salt taste and lets the potato come through more.

I don't care* about vinegar, but people who dip french fries in mayo or bleu cheese dressing are gross. The only people I've met who do that are Southerners and Midwesterners, who coincidentally tend to be the fattest.

By don't care, I mean I have no opinion about drizzling it on fries. Salt and vinegar is my favorite chip variant, and I use balsamic vinegar on my salads.
