Sony recently announced that it would ready 400,000 PS3s in North America and another 100,000 in Japan for the system's launch. Nintendo said it plans to ship 4 million Wii units worldwide by the end of the year.

I've never had to pre-order a Nintendo system. A week after the N64 came out it was sold out and impossible to find, but I saw plenty the day it came out. I was able to get a GC and DSL without any hassle. It might just be anecdotal evidence, but it doesn't seem like the Nintendo fanbase are the "camp all night' type.Haleon said:YES.
You hear that Bad_Boy? Time to break out the lawnchair and cooler. Looks like you're moving to EB!RIDE said:Personally, my store isn't expecting to get more than 4 of the things. And honestly, we have no clue when we're taking the preorder. It'll be the day that our DM calls us and says, "process the next 4 preorders for any customers who ask," and that'll be about it. Entirely, entirely luck of the draw if you're in the store at the right time.

Smokey Bones said:We won't know until the next conference which I think is at the end of the month. My guess is we'll start around mid-Octoberish.
Scoobert said:It will be after the 1st week of October. EB/GS managers have a meeting the last week of September through the first week of October. That's when everyone should have all the details for both systems.
Stores received an email today about this stuff. Zelda for Wii preorders start Friday. Expect calls if you have the GCN version reserved to see if you want to switch.
ManaByte said:They are already taking pre-orders for the games. At least the one near me is.
omg rite said:not 1st party games they're not. it's only been 3rd party stuff under the Dreamcast sku
ManaByte said:Stopped at Gamestop tonight to check and they told me they would NEVER take pre-orders for any console ever again, including the Wii.
Also, when I asked for Lego Star Wars II, wtf did the register monkey fish through the USED GAMES before looking for a new copy? Are they trained to do that under the threat of a shock collar or something?
ManaByte said:Well, they offered to let me pre-order Zelda tonight. I didn't because I want to wait to secure a system first.
rootdaemon said:The staff at my EB and I are going to just pay off a $50 game so when we hear about PS3 or Wii pre-orders we just move our pre-orders over.
If you work at an EB/GS I'd recommend this and if you don't get to know the staff well enough they'll move it over for you. We're doing it for some of our regulars.

Sallokin said:Former employee here. Actually if you try to purchase a new title, and the system knows that there are used ones in stock, it will suggest the person at the cash register push the used copy on the customer. I was trained to give the customer the exact same thing they bring to the register. White labels are new games, Yellow are used. It seems it's a bit different at each store though.

JB1981 said:"If you buy Used you can return it for something else within 7 days." STFU, bitch!
Sallokin said:LOL wow are you serious?
rootdaemon said:Yeap but on your second receipt (after you return your first game for the second) it says, "FINAL SALE. NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGES."
Plus my SM has told us that if people abuse it we will just refuse the return, which we have the right to do so.
Juice said:If you're terse, they get in line, "don't even bother with the ****ing used games." will snap him up.
omg rite said:You can now preorder Zelda for Wii, without question.
apparently some people got automated phone calls even saying they could transfer their reserve from GC to Wii
PezRadar said:Only mentioned Zelda in the e-mail and that we are waiting for launch quantities allocated to the company.. An e-mail months ago mentioned Conference would be more info, not todays.
Why do you people listen to the employees, they should just say "We don't know yet"
And I can tell you, preorders for Wii will happen, ignore everyone that says they wont.
