Hideki Kamiya seems to want to make the next Star Fox

Kamiya doing Star Fox?

Based on Bayonetta, I wonder if he's got enough self control and attention span to make a cohesive title that maintains top tier quality without a bunch of random ridiculous and poorly designed crap filling the seams.

Actually, based on Star Fox games after the original SNES title, perhaps his approach is what Nintendo desires.
I could totally see starfox with ridiculous over-the-top cut scenes. Maybe even Gurren Lagann levels of over the top. Just sandwich them between really kick-ass on rails shooting and it's gold.

Incidentally, I also think that FFXIII would have been better if they had replaced the not-so-great high-speed ATB system with Bayonetta's battle system.

While I agree that Bayonetta's battle system is awesome (easily the best action game system ever made), FFXIII's battle system is fucking incredible.

He's just got high standards. That's amazingly well for a new IP, and I don't think the game cost that much to make as it essentially just uses the DMC4 engine.
What? It doesn't use MT Framework at all, if it did it'd probably look a lot nicer on both platforms.

Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Bayonetta

I enjoyed Viewtiful Joe, but it wasn't that great. :/

DMC, like I said in my edit: Fun but pretty flawed. However, it was good in a cheesy Biohazard/Resident Evil corny old-series way.

Bio/RE2 is (well, for most people, my heart is still with Bio3) the high point of the series, and Shinji took Leon to Cheesy heights in Bio4.

I say they both hang their heads and go back to Capcom, make Bio6 (instead of Jun fucking up the series and ruining characters, sup forced co-op and Wesker/Jill?) completely awesome and make me happy for the wait. :| But that's just me wanting the classic series/characters back. *sigh*

As for Bayonetta: Not too sure how I feel on it. For the most part it gets the DMC gameplay right, but at the same time the PS3 port was pretty bad (but that isn't any fault of his own other than not doing the port himself)

I don't think Platinum has touched ANYTHING Capcom based since the Okami/Clover fiasco.

Did Bayonetta really use the DMC4 engine? Then why did the PS3 version end up so terrible?

FFXIII's battle system seemed like it wanted to be something else entirely, but was instead a way of cramming ATB into being something actiony. Maybe it's just me, but if I'm dealing with a menu based battle system in an RPG, I want to be able to spend time to make my choices - I don't want to be rushed into it. If it had a pause mode, it probably would have been much more tolerable. If they wanted to do something actiony, then they should have done away with the menus altogether and just gone with a beat-em-up system.

The franchise is a whisker away from been driven into the dirt.

Whoever gets the nod, go back and play Starfox 64 and STOP FUCKING IT UP!

All of you losers better buy Sin and Punishment 2.
I'll buy it day 1 even when I don't have the time for it because of Monster Hunter Tri. I normally hate backlog, but S&P2 is worth making an exception. :)

He then followed with: "I want Nintendo's staff to come to Platinum, stick guns at us and tell us 'You guys make a new Star Fox.'"

Lately, people have been asking if X developer should make Y Nintendo franchise.

Should Platinum make Starfox? What about Treasure? And how about Retro? And then there's Dylan Cuthbert...

Personally, I don't care which one of them makes a new Starfox, I would be very happy, and I bet it would be very good regardless. (Well, I'd be a little worried about Cuthbert...) I would be happiest if it were Treasure, though, since the Japanese S&P2 was my favorite game from last year.

I'd rather he make Bayonetta 2, Okami 2 (;_;) or RE2Make, but if he wants to make something new I can't fault him for it... it'd be odd to see him taking on someone else's franchise for the first time since RE2, and this time one that is definitely more established than RE was when he made its first sequel.
I'd rather he make Okami 2 HD, RE2Make, Viewtiful Joe 3DS:D

and yes, I also want (prefer) Treasure to make a new Starfox...

Man, I don't think I could do something terrible like making a new Star Fox, even if a gun was to my head. Everybody would be all, "It's not your fault that another one of those shitty games got made, you were forced," but the guilt would be unbearable.

All you fuckers saying "I hope Treasure makes Starfox 2" are going to criminally ignore Sin & Punishment 2 despite it being fundamentally the same (and probably better).

What's this "probably" bullshit?

I would still like to see them get a handle on the whole "out of vehicle" stuff in Starfox.

I mean, if I had to choose between a good new Starfox game that was only vehicles and another shitty one, I'd chose vehicles only. But if I had to choose between two Star Fox games of equal quality, I'd prefer the one that also has good on-foot sections.

Also, I wanna see the interior of the Great Fox. It's the best videogame spaceship this side of the Normandy(s)

Here's a good handle: stop doing it.

If you believe Dylan Cuthbert, though, it's Miyamoto that wants Fox to be out of his Arwing so much.

Nothing wrong with sticking it on foot, as long as it's on rails at the same time. It's just like the in tank portions in 64. It should be on-rails for everything, but I suppose that I could probably enjoy a Wing Commander type dogfight level.

Based on what we know from January NPD (<200k) and the Japanese sales (~300k), that report means sold to retailers. It couldn't even be counting February sales (according to the article it's not even counting January), so unless it did really well in Europe those are definitely shipment numbers.
It topped the charts in Europe for like three or four weeks. Like, #1.

Because Platinum Games had nothing to do with the PS3 version. The PS3 version was a port fuck-up by Sega.

Than a hypothetical new Starfox.

Probably still encompasses a 99% chance.

Thing is, factually, Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies/Star Successor/Successor to the Sky is the best game of this generation and any future generations.

Unless they make a Sin and Punishment 3 with actual co-op.

lol what

What the fuck does Bayonetta's combat system have to do with a JRPG.

DO EEET!

The mere mention of Nintendo x PlatinumGames makes me drool in anticipation.

The other was a 3D shooting game. However, he was so satisfied with Star Fox 64 that he thought there'd be no need to make a 3D shooter.
Damn, Kamiya knows what's up. :lol

I wouldn't mind if Kamiya turned Star Fox into a DMC or Bayonetta.

He's a fairly flashy character in Smash ripe for that kinda action.

:O
If only Kamiya said he wanted to work in the next Smash. ( Bullet time fest against Master Hand/Alloy Warriors) /drools

I also want to see the "insides" of the Great Fox. It's an awesome ship.
