I was going to mention Quina. Glad OP has me covered
S/he carries on the Final Fantasy tradition of making the blue mage incredibly overpowered.
Compared to blue mages in other Final Fantasies, Quina is actually quite easy to make overpowered. Eating enemies is a lot easier to do on your own without a guide than being hit by specific attacks by enemies. Especially for defensive moves where, in the other games, you would have to rely on some enemy manipulation skill to get the enemy to cast them on you.
Given how much you have to invest in Quina before she becomes overpowered, yeah, no.
