Network decay. This kind of shit is starting to infiltrate the Travel Channel too. Bourdain, Zimmerman, and Samantha Brown are really the only things worth watching on that channel. The rest of the channel has devolved into some glutton trying to beat food records and people hunting ghosts.

Yeah, The History Channel, Discovery, TLC, the Travel Channel... all of these channels run crap. TLC programming is basically, "Here's someone with a conspicuous medical abnormality. Let's exploit them for a documentary."

Their How the States Got Their Shapes is actually a pretty good show. I hope they continue to greenlight actual history-centered shows like this in the future.

PBS had an extended documentary on recently called Prohibition which is absolutely fantastic.

You have shows like The War, Prohibition, Nature, Nova etc at your fingertips. Why even bother with History? History can bugger itself.
