Hitman (2016) PC performance thread

Is that the first episode in Paris? Yeah, since the latest patch I got a slight boost and don't really see any dips below 60 anymore. 980Ti/4790K.

With a 1070 and i5 4670k I just can't get a consistent framerate. I don't know if it's a CPU thing or what, I tried overclocking and barely saw a difference.

Guys, i bought the game recently and tried the ingame benchmark.

Running on DX12 seems to have a perfect average of 60fps.

On DX11 runs at 57-58fps at the most.

I know the difference is ridiculous but i thought this game ran way better with DX11 on Nvidia (GTX 1080).

MAX fps are better on DX11 but only in one or two frames from the whole benchmark.

A. The built in benchmark isn't really representative of the in game experience (as seems to be the case with most 2016 titles with such benchmarks).

B. DX12 on Pascal is usually running on the same level as DX11 (unless you're highly CPU limited where it's faster), it's significantly slower than DX11 on Kepler and to a lesser degree on Maxwell cards.

GTX 980 and an i7 4770k. Matching console settings did wonders to my framerate (mostly setting Level of Detail to Medium). The game looks amazing and stays at 60FPS at all times.

steady 60fps with vsync on at 1080P ultra settings DX12, running on RX480 + i5 6500. (edit : tested playing thru the paris christmas level for example)

I'm having a seriously weird problem with Hitman.

For some reason the game (only during gameplay!) is rendering in limit black levels (as in 16-235 tv levels). The menus, and eveyrthing else are showing in accurate pc levels (0-255). So the game, during gameplay, looks super washed out, all blacks are grey, all whites are dull.

This effects no other game, Witcher, Deus Ex, Civ, Tomb Raider, all look perfect.

Has anyone else run into this issue? At first I thought maybe it was some weirdly stupid design choice, but then I saw screens in this thread where black looked black.

I'm on a nVidia 770gtx.

I encountered exactly the same problem ! Washed out colors, all blacks rendered gray, like too much applied gamma.

Simple solution : go in your video configuration (in Windows), select the same resolution that the one used in your game, and change Range Colors from Limited (TV Levels 16-235) to Full (0-255).
Relaunch the game, and I hope your problem will be fixed.

For any obscure reason (unlike other games), this game chooses firstly rendering of Windows setting.

For JaseC : tip to put on OP ?

Are you referring to this or a setting within Windows itself?

Edit: Err, Abload affixing "nzs25" to the file name is unfortunate. Nvidiacpornzs25.jpg probably triggered a red flag somewhere, haha.

Besides FXAA and super sampling, what other methods are available?

Is 60fps possible at 1080p 3770k/980Ti? Thinking of jumping in now that it's playable offline.

SMAA I think? Could be remembering incorrectly.

On my i5 6500 and 980ti Strix the first three episodes jumped anywhere from 35-90 FPS. The indoor, small areas were easy to maintain 60 FPS+ but I was in a constant state of annoyance at how many drops in the 40s there were maxed out in outdoor areas.

I will say the latter three episodes all maintained above 60 FPS for me quite well.

If I can help you in any other way with this game, let me know, having pretty similar specs and all.

Since you have an i7 (hopefully overclocked to at least 4.2GHz or something) and a good GPU that shouldn't be much of a problem if you just mess around with the settings a bit going by what other people in here are getting.

I have yet to actually install the game myself after getting a $15 preorder for the full season on amazon in a price error. :p
Should get to it someday and see how it runs on my build, I wasn't super happy about the performance in the beta.

Downloading now, will have to tomorrow to test it out. Is this running on the same engine as DX:MD?

Played 20mins, just the start of the prologue, everything maxed 1080p, using SMAA getting 60fps no drops. Is this level ( cruise ship) a good indication of what to expect performance wise of this game?

I was worried when using SMAA, I thought it would be a shimmer fest, but it's very good at hiding jaggies.

I've only played through Paris but no, the tutorial levels don't seem to be a good indicator for overall performance. They're much smaller levels compared to the other maps.

So I've got HDR working and it looks nice, but I'm having trouble with scaling.

I can only do 1440 with my 1070 and keep the graphics settings up while maintaining 60 fps in this game. However, on my Samsung 4K TV (KU6300 specifically) I can't seem to have both HDR and scaling. I can play the game, and any other game, at 1440 and have it scale just fine.

Unfortunately, as soon as I turn on HDR the scaling turns off and I've got a black border. It doesn't matter if I set scaling to GPU or Display in Nvidia Control Panel. I've tried both full screen and aspect ratio. This didn't happen with Shadow Warrior 2 which I also had in 1440, so I assume it's related to Exclusive Fullscreen. Anyone else run into this and have a solution?

Did you ever find a solution to this? Just asked the same question in the Hitman HDR thread before seeing your post.

Having the same issue w/ the same card and nearly the same TV.

Tried the demo, damn even on first two small levels i can't maintain 60 fps all the time (1080p, shadows on medium), my specs - GTX 970, i5-3570@4200Mhz and 8gb ram. DX11/DX12 does little or no difference, i think.
Is it normal and game just poorly optimized?

That seems counter to my experience. I was running the training missions over 80fps the whole time with a 480 4gb and 6600k.

The real levels are more demanding than the training ones. They generally run above 70fps for me, but they can dip into the 50s. It's gotten to the point where I might just lock at 60 with RTSS. Hitman is really one of the most inconsistent games I've played, performance-wise. A shame because IOI created such a fantastic game here.

It's horribly optimized, especially for Nvidia-cards. It's the first game i've had to settle for a console-like experience of drops from 60 to 40 since i've bought my 970. And the worst thing about it is that lowering settings almost doesn't change anything in regards of performance.

Hopefully IOI is forced to scrap the awful Glacier engine in future games.

Beaten the whole game on GTX1080 in 2560x1600 in DX12 with 150% resolution scale and stayed above 60 most of the time. I think it's VRAM and RAM heavy so unless you have a lot of those you'll run into issues. It also likes fast CPUs a lot, with many cores in case of DX12.

Someone know why i cant play it in HDR in 1440p ?

Only 1080p and 2160p works in HDR... Im so mad because 1080p are ugly on a 4K TV and 2160p too greedy for my 1070...

Have you tried switching to DX11? It probably won't make a difference, but, hey, you never know!

How did you know I used DX12?!
I actually pondered about this while falling asleep last night so I'll try it out later. DX12 gave me about 5 more frames when I tried the benchmark for the first time so I stuck with it.

Switching to DX11 seems to have fixed this stupid issue. Why would DX12 suddenly perform so badly when in online mode?
Thanks JaseC

I recently purchased this game on the steam sale, and it's fantastic, but is there a solution to the horrid stuttering?

I'm on an I7, 2060, and 16 gigs of ram.

Which i7? And what's the settings/resolution? And are you paying attention to the stats with afterburner?
