Canes arena dead silent.

Habs got a way to surviving onslaughts and counter attack scoring to win or holding on for the win. Aside from that one bad game Dobes had against Sabres, he's been rock solid.

There are charter planes planned for the next game from QC City.

Ends 6-2

Canes had only ONE shot 3rd period with a PP and empty net

Meme Lol GIF by ALL SEEING EYES

This will get into their head

Go and take game 2 in their barn 😁

That's what you get for the Canes after an 11 day vacation.
As we witnessed in the 1st period there's a chance you lose your rythm and it can bite you in the ass.

Andersen's pristine undefeated wall was busted through by the Habs like the Kool-Aid man.

Meh I still don't believe the canes are as good as everyone is making them out to be. Before the game all the so called experts were saying that a well rested canes are gonna destroy the Habs. Now they are saying there was rust??? Hahahahha fuck off

Andersen is no Vassilevski

Canes' defense is nowhere near Sabres, they're slow

Canes' D-system and roughness is nowhere near Tampa, they're so afraid of Habs getting a PP that our offense can now skate freely between defenders without much worries

The pool of offense talent is not even close to Tampa's top 5. Habs have a much higher skill ceiling than them.

It won't be easy because I still think Habs can run out of gas.

If they can steal 2nd game, canes will be in fucking panic.

If the Habs haven't run out of gas yet I don't think they will. They just need to fix their second period issues because man they make some boneheaded plays in that period for some reason.

Canes are the definition of a Paper Tiger

I have Habs winning this series in 5.

Canes play in a weak division and feast on weak playoff opponents like Philly and Ottawa. They have been to the ECF several times and have yet to win a single game in this round. They've been SWEPT each time by a real team from Atlantic division.

That, plus, they had 11 days off. They're rusty.

Shall be seen, I don't want to be too optimistic, even yesterday I refrained myself from posting after the 1st period, because Habs also always manage to make this a roller coaster.

But peoples for sure have been glazing Canes way too fucking much. Why are all these TV hockey analysts so fucking clueless?

I grew up in NY and went to school
Upstate. My Buffalo friends are all against the Canadians.
Your friends are stupid.

I'm your friend now.

If the Canadians win the Cup, it'll mean Buffalo is likely an elite team that can win it next year. If the Canadians get ousted in 5 or 6 games this series it means Buffalo might be a top 8 - 10 team.

Go Monteal! To new friends! Cheers!

Dach - Kapanen were terrible tonight, they're pretty much responsible for the OT turnover. They were not skating to help the team

Also Dobson's worst game

I really hope Hutson is not hurt. Fucking Canes keep targeting him

Oh well

Habs lost but if this is Canes' « revenge mode » at their best hockey, I think Habs will be fine.
What I kept hearing the most yesterday was that in game one 'canes were suffering from a week long break and their bodies not being back at peak physical performance. There's a certain logic to it but I wasn't convinced. The coaching staff are well aware this can happen and their practice sessions were probably ran with that in mind.

And yet they got outclassed in game 1.

I get the feeling those were the real hurricanes we saw tonight. I'm rooting for the habs but this will not a be an easy series to win. winning in 4 would've been nice, to give a chance to some players to heal, that ain't happening now. St-Louis will need to figure out a play style that will give his team back control of the ice to give his players the room they need to score some goals.

Yep Carolina out played the habs tonight for most of the game. The Canadiens Dobes held it together as the rest of the team looked sloppy most of the night. That being said the first two goals by Carolina were pretty bad bounces.

Im going for the Habs as I'm Canadian and would like to see a Canadian team win plus Carolina and Vegas/Avalanche is getting tired every year.

Winning in 4 for Habs was never in the cards imo. It's more a knock in the teeth to all peoples who thought Canes would sweep Habs because they swept the previous two baby seals.

It was also the real hurricanes in game 1 after ~10 mins. Problem is Habs had already hurt them a lot in those first 10 mins. They just did not expect the habs to play like that. But 2nd period and 3rd was usual Canes. It's the Canes' "too agressive" style which most teams fold.

They adjusted for 2nd game to have a tight defense.

Personally, considering last night was Canes' "revenge" mode and probably their best, when they are well rested, I think Habs will be fine. I felt Tampa was way worse than that. Habs will adapt their game to it, like they've done in previous rounds.

Problems with the Habs last night

Blind passes behind, dumping the puck and nobody to go there, or if you have momentum they were changing trio, being cute with the puck and getting it stolen by canes. Anderson's two goals were simple, just hard work and fighting.

Kapanen has to be out next match. He's in way over his head in playoff. Put Gallagher in, a fucking warrior, he'll also always bother the other goaler. Or even Veleno is a better pick than Kapanen.

I would remove Dach too if I could but I doubt MSL will do that.

I would perhaps even put Xhekaj brothers in, high energy / hitman to bother Canes and also keep everyone in check. Analysts would say you sacrifice speed here but fuck, Dach and Kapanen were not skating so what's lost. Arber vs Struble who made so many mistakes is also not a negative gain swap.

Texier needs a slap for that stupid penalty, they had momentum at the end of 2nd period, starting 3rd with a penalty is just ouf.
Dobes has to be told to calm the fuck down and not get penalties

Habs will probably have to go back to Tampa strategy if Canes want to be like that. Except Canes don't have Tampa's offensive power.

Wow. Vegas on a roll. I would had never guessed they'd do this good in the playoffs. They actually had a meh year and only scraped into the playoffs since the west was so weak. Round 1 and 2 they didnt even look that great. But against Avs(!) they look killer.

Habs are running out of gas
Habs play best against run and guns teams trading high tempo rushes.

Carolina is a good defending team, then counter attacks with puck possession passing it around cycling between forwards and dmen. Since the team is conditioned by Brindy to seem to never run out of energy they can keep it up all night.

Dobes playing great keeping them in all games (except that one Buff game). Habs arent a great defensive team (despite having speed) as they get easily hemmed in by Canes.

Disappointed.

Refs ignoring that obvious tripping on Hutson in OT.

Oh well.

There's so many things going wrong with Habs that refs are the least of their problems

Only Dobes played his A game

Martin St-Louis has to change strategy for game 4. You cannot just throw the lineup again with same strategy a 3rd time. They were lucky to make it to OT, yes also luck not on our side, we had like 3 goal posts? You need more than luck though.

Dobeš is my star this year. Amazing performance, great attitude, likeable personality. A gem of a player. Like I'd have him for a drink anytime.
