Hockey GAF

Canadiens are done for.

All season they have adapted and found ways to win.
Not anymore.

How can you get shots on goal if you can't even get out of your zone.

Too bad Doby can't score.

The crowd chanting exactly that late 3rd period 😆

They're done

I don't even want to see next game. Send the Laval Rockets to Carolina, they'll have more SOGs

The rest of the team can book their summer

The team didn't deserve Dobes

edit :

Thanks John Marston John Marston for the gold

That guy is honestly why I occasionally tune into hockey. Yeah, probably not the best reason, but holy shit, that 1997 brawl was insane. I think I was around 23 years old and had just started going to sports bars. I remember the whole place being locked onto like two screens at first, then the bar started switching more TVs over to that game because of the fight lol. The bar was basically like, "Fuck the Yankees , Knicks & Islanders, we about that hockey!" I didn't even have to ask why everyone on skates snapped. The entire bar was already talking about what happened the previous season.

Wow, rumour is he suicided
You never know what's happening in another man's head.

I'm no psychologist but maybe lifting that torch Monday brought back a flood of feelings from his glory days.
Then (this is pure speculation) you go back to your boring, predictable life, maybe you're already depressed and on impulse you say "fuck it".

Or maybe he did a Tony Scott after a cancer diagnosis.

As for tonight's game no matter what happens the Canadiens made it further than most predicted.

I hope this taste of the playoffs makes them hungrier.

I'm hopeful for the next 5-7 years 🙂

I'm taking a wild guess but I think his suicide goes beyond CTE. I didnt know this till the incident but he and his wife owned the furniture store he committed suicide at. I got a feeling business was bad and they lost a lot of money on it.

But you could be right too and civilian life is boring. It's like all the celebs, singers and athletes deaths. You'd think being rich and having a great career would lead to coasting the rest of their lives. But sometimes, they got to itch forever for that high where it's always frantic and a big party. Like many musicians always in that dazed and confused booze and drug life. Next thing you know they overdose, jump off a balcony or hang themselves. Instead of just chilling when the career fades away being loaded and relax at a beach or watch Netflix all day they always got to be amped up like it's the good ol days at 25 years old.

Concussions → CTE does lead to high chances of depression though and the guy played in a time of hockey where it was fucking rough and he was in the midst of it. I can't even imagine how many of his concussions were undiagnosed. Not saying its that but he might have been battling that for a long time. Get a high at the Bell center with the flame bearer and then think it'll never be as good as that and fall even harder.

Fucked up whatever lead to this anyway. Poor family.

I just want to see them in action, I'm not even hopeful they win. But I want to see spirit. If it looks like you packed your suitcase to go play golf in Carolina the next day and just want the misery to be over, then I'll turn off the TV.

Habs got the speed and skill. Assuming Dobes isnt a rookie fluke, they got the goaltending too. They also got Hutson as the key puck moving and scoring dman.

They desperately need some more grit in the bottom 6 forwards and more importantly some better puck moving dmen. Carolina's entire D core arent even all star scorers or skaters. But just overall all pretty good at skating and passing as 6 man unit. Doesnt even matter which pairing is on the ice. So they defend and then immediately transition it up ice to the forwards. Montreal's defensive core can barely get it out of the zone. Canes are too fast forechecking and anticipating all the clear outs and passes intercepting them half the time.

Yea they have some interesting prospects in the pipeline. To be seen what Hugues does also for trades.

Gallagher is not in tonight for example (rumour at least). To me, this is saying that its not just about having a jolt of energy, but that they are evaluating hard the young players they have right now in the playoffs. Evaluting a veteran like Gallagher, yes he can give you a win but it's not interesting for future.

• Reinbacher will be a puck-moving defenceman ( I would personally have him on the ice tonight if I was MSL). 6'3" 209 lbs, so he won't be a pushover while moving that puck.

• Pickford will be an heavy shooter defenceman. This motherfucker scored 44 goals and has 38 assists in WHL in just 54 games. This was not done by a defenceman since 1988. He won WHL player of the year.

Among many others but these two are quite interesting to get the defence to participate on the offense.

We need a 2nd center badly. Evans ain't cutting it. I love his PK skills, he's gonna be a Danault type of player. But not a 2nd center.

I think since the Habs have shown they can go far in the playoffs, it might interest some bigger names to go there too in the coming years.

Carolina has been overdue for a Cup run, glad to see them get it out of their system now. Now the East can belong to the young / hungry teams like Montreal, Buffalo, Philly, etc.

Not really worth watching anymore of this game Habs are cooked. I guess if I have to go for Vegas or Carolina I would take Vegas as I would like to see Marner win something but to be honest I can't think of a more boring cup finals.

Canadiens reminded me of that spoiled kid on the playground who just wants to go home when things aren't going his way.

No sense of urgency or despair, they didn't leave their blood and guts on the ice.

I mean Carolina is pretty good and well rested, but the Canadiens just ran out of gas, those first few rounds caught up with them.
Not sure how I feel about a Knights vs Canes finals, probably want Knights to win just for Marner to give Toronto the finger so he can say 'It wasn't me'.

Taylor Hall wininng a cup before McDavid? Not something I saw coming.

1993 lives on for Canada and it's getting a bit sad now. NHL needs some Canadian success.

While there are a lot of positives for the Habs's journey I'm still bitter on how they just seemed satisfied with how far they went.

They should have gone down like a honey badger backed into a corner.
It also could have helped if they had a couple of veterans in that locker room reminding the kiddos to grab every opportunity and making the playoffs next year is not a guarantee.

Best of luck to the Canes & Knights I'm off to play some golf 😄

I think it can look like that but I'm certain the list of injured players is a long one

Atlantic division, end of season and playoffs was a bloodbath

Canes were really good too and they choke the opponent, so if you come in exhausted, it's gonna be a hard time.

What's surprising is MSL not changing a damn thing for 4 games. At that point I guess the only logical explanation is to make sure the young players face the biggest adversity to learn from it and build up rage inside for next season. Managers are likely looking at who gave it all even with injuries. Guhle comes to mind.

Dach has to go. As useful as an asshole on an elbow. Low IQ for hockey plays.
