Holiday Exclusives Showdown: PS3 vs. 360

open_mouth_

insert_foot_
Both systems are sharing plenty of big 3rd party multi-platform games for the holidays (e.g. Guitar Hero, Call of Duty MW2, Assassin's Creed 2, etc.), so it's going to be the exclusives that potentially help move more hardware. Sometimes it just comes down to having stock in the channel during the holidays and bundles, but more times than not its the exclusives and price that really are the difference makers. Since pricing is closer now than it's ever been between the PS3 & 360, let's talk about the big exclusives each system holder is going to be touting and if there will be any advantage to either side. No trolling please, even though there's plenty of opportunities for trolls in here.

PS3 = Uncharted 2, Ratchet & Clank, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Demon's Souls
360 = Halo 3 ODST, Left for Dead 2, GTA Gay Tony Bundle, Forza 3

360 has the "names" though Uncharted 2 has the potential to be GOTY. I think in terms of system pushing power, 360's exclusives may help them more, if you go by historical data for those franchises. Thoughts?

Methinks you're forgetting a system.

Thinking....thinking....nope, drawing a blank. I can only think of two home consoles with games coming out for the holidays. What are you referring to?

I'm sure New Super Mario will be good, but nothing else there.

I think the price cut along with the slim should let them win it this holiday

Before, the whole "pay more get more" didn't really translate. But 299 for a game system with integrated wifi, big hdd, bluray player, wireless and rechargeable controls, and a host of other stuff "should" push it over the edge.

The really good games are also FINALLY coming out. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the general crowd out there is still wary of the playstation name after Sony dragged it through the mud this gen. Although I have all three systems already, I admit that the PS releases coming out are more intriguing than the 360 releases and much better than the Wii releases on the horizon...

I thought that Rockstar was releasing both Lost and damned and Ballad of Gay tony on a disc for the PS3 as well? is that after the holiday season?

half of them aren't exclusives

but i like the look of halo odst, forza, liberty city episodes, ninja gaiden 2 and demon souls. everything else sounds meh

personally i think psp has better stuff coming out than both combined

Naming NGS2 as an exclusive is kind of stupid IMO.
From those listed I'm only interested in U2 and R&C (already played and LOVED Demon's Souls), so I guess PS3 wins for me.
Still hoping for GT5 09 though
I have a 360 too but I'm not too much of a MP fan so ODST and L4D I'm not really interested in.

:lol :lol :lol

Looks to me that the 360 wins it with a bigger laundry list of what should be quality titles. Sony has all their eggs in the Uncharted basket when it comes to exclusives.

I'm hoping the PS3 does much better this time around. They should put some serious marketing muscle behind Uncharted 2 and the new slim and price drop and see how things shake out.

So your hoping for Gran Turismo 09 but aren't interested in Forza 3? :lol

Latest Uncharted 2 footage is pretty good looking:

Next up - Killzone.Gifs.

If those are the line up, then 360, but considering GT5 is likely, and GoW1&2 are coming, I think it's actually the PS3.

PS3: Uncharted 2, Ratchet And Clank A Crack in Time, Afrika, Demon Souls, Ninja Gaiden 2, God of War Collection, Gran Turismo 5 (maybe)

360: 360 = Halo 3 ODST, Left for Dead 2, GTA Gay Tony Bundle, Forza 3

Seems to be the 360 Christmas as far as starpower goes. Though if GT5 hits it could be different.

Nothing will top ODST, we could see LFD2 and GTA Episodes Bundle also beat Uncharted 2, though GT5 could mix up the order of the top 3 sellers.

Granted he PS3 sort of is an entry in its lineup for the first time ever really. :lol

The 360's games will get the better sales , the PS3 games will have decent sales and there names being recited for the next decade as great games, and the DS will come in and trash them both anyway.

Overall I'd say 360 takes it but if you narrow it down to a single game I give it to PS3 because of Uncharted 2.

This thread will end well :D

I think Sony will have better games.
I think MS will have more financially successful games.

I have to agree. If MS weren't riding on the sequel train, they might of had some heavy hitters for this season. All those games will be successful regardless of the quality.

There's some good games for both systems. I don't think there's a system seller to be found on this list, it's mostly sequels and I can't see people rush out and buy a new system for a re-release of Ninja Gaiden 2 or a sequel to Left 4 Dead. Uncharted 2 and Forza 3 could be big hits if the games are more popular than their prequels. Halo 3: ODST will obviously do well.

I think most of these titles will sell to the fanbase that's already there. It actually shows that MS and Sony need something like Natal or the PS Wand to mix things up a bit with new potential system sellers.

Also if we pull the Wii into this, the quality is all over the place but the system has a lot of exclusives coming up.

If released, Gran Turismo 5 will be the biggest seller this holiday (if we are talking only about exclusive games). Hands down.

The thread doesn't say what region we're talking about here, but the PS3-exclusive for Japan Final Fantasy XIII is being released this holiday season and sure to move some units.

Getting Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Demons Souls, and Left 4 Dead 2, and L4D will be on the PC. I don't own a 360 but even if I did I'd be getting the same games.

Add Dragon Age to the list!

Of what?

Anyway I Dont think XBLA and PSN should be over looked either.

Im not clued up about whats coming on PSN (Pixel Junk Shooter?) but XBLA has Serious Sam and Perfect Dark hitting this Holiday.

I have played Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Gears of War etc. I've had great fun being a multi-console owner. I just wish everyone else had the same priviledge

halo odst imo won't be a system seller, its more of the same blandness that is now the halo franchise being squeezed for every penny.

i think xbox has the bigger named franchises (after all they are sequels from last gen) but i think ps3 has finally got a competitive list of exclusives.

Are we talking in terms of critical response or sales?

I'm convinced the 360 will win out on both fronts.

Demon's Souls and NGS2 are both essentially known quanitites at this point (one being a localisation, the other an embelished port).

This leaves us with only Uncharted 2 and R&C to represent the brand new content available on PS3 this season, unless GT5 and GoW Collection make it in time.

All the titles mentioned in the OP have the potential to be equally impressive, but it basically comes down to the fact that the 360 has more of them lined up.

I'm convinced this is payback for "MGS4 coming to 360"

PSN has got Gravity Crash, that Left 4 dead clone dual stick community shooter, Spelunkers, and a bunch of other smaller titles that I don't know the names of .

the 360 line-up looks weak to me. most of my cash will be going to Sony. the biggest game on 360 is a $60 expansion pack to a 2 year old game. `*yawn*
