Holiday Exclusives Showdown: PS3 vs. 360

So, we should be predicting the specifics of the one true metric we can all agree with (even if we don't like 'em): sales numbers. For new software released this year, X360 will probably bitchslap the PS3 pretty easily. It's got its big names out and all the big multi-platform releases to go with the 'price cut' and massive marketing. PS3 should do a lot better than it did last holiday season, though...grandjedi6 said:

i'll take ps3 exclusives this winter.
on the 360, 2 are FPS and one is DLC. not really my type of games.

Looks good for the PS3, especially with FFXIII coming out in Japan. Hopefully they'll market Uncharted 2 and Demon Souls a bit, but I doubt it.
Overall though, I'd say Forza 3 will be the best experience on either console this holiday. Turn10 are doing some amazing work.

To me it's PS3, Forza and Halo don't interest me at all (not that I could play them, my 360 is dead for almost over a year now). But both systems have a pretty "weak" line-up.
I'm sure all those games will be great, and 360 will blow PS3 out of the water software saleswise (it's Halo after al).
But hey, luckily it's not only first party. I'll be playing Brütal Legend, Modern Warfare 2 and Borderlands on my Triple too. Add some Uncharted 2 and Ratchet And Clank goodness to that, and I think 2009 will go out with a bang.
Oh yeah... I'm not watching that Uncharted 2 gameplay... I don't want to get spoiled

No, it's still people thinking they'll be surprise announcements at TGS or something. Seems a bit stupid to stealth drop like that when those games are so expensive that creating a long ramp up of awareness is necessary to ensure the kind of preorders and sales hype to make them less risky. I think they would have been announced as '09 titles some time ago if they were going to be by now.H.Cornerstone said:

I would love to see Sony outsell MS for a few months in the US, because MS seems to feel way too confident in their sales and the US has always been their safe zone.
As a person with a preference for my XBox, I'd love to see MS needing to stay more competitive and fight back they've generally had it too easy recently. I think the competition will result in better stuff for us gamers.

Why are you getting so defensive? He said that 2 of the titles were FPS's and one of them was DLC.. there is nothing in that comment that implies these three are the total of the exclusive titles. What is clear is that when someone is disinterested in three out of the total 4 titles of one console, the other set of games will be preferable.Shogun PaiN said:

PS3 wins for me, but only because of Uncharted 2. That's the only exclusive I'm really looking forward too this holiday season. Well, that and Buzz: QW.

The OP says "it's going to be the exclusives that potentially help move more hardware" which I think is 100% false. This holiday is about one thing: Modern Warfare 2. Yes, it's a sequel, but so are ODST, Uncharted (not a console moving game in the first place), and the racers. I think Modern Warfare 2 will move way more consoles than any of the first party games listed in the OP. Like CoD4, it's likely going to be a lot more successful on 360 but the PS3 price drop could make things interesting.

Personally I'm looking forward to playing Uncharted 2 (single player) the most out of the games listed there. But in terms of software sales, Microsoft easily has the far stronger lineup. I don't expect R&C, NGS2, or Demon's Souls to sell all that well.

I can remember an article in one of my OPM's reminding people Uncharted was released and that they should go buy it. Might be a different case in the USA though. I also seriously doubt ODST will move consoles but that awesome live action trailer could help.
Oh and here in the UK ive noticed a lot of advertising for Beatles Rockband popping up on tv and at the end there's no mention of PS3 only 360....Weird.
