Holiday sales - how much did you spend?

$0

I don't buy things just becuase they're on sale. I don't ever play through backlogs so now I just buy a game I want when I have time to play it.

this, pretty much.

I bought Bastion, I think that's it this year. I used to buy TONS more, but then I realized I was just giving them money (which isn't necessarily bad, if I didn't need it for myself) without actually playing the games.

I still want the games.. but then I realize I'll never have a chance to actually play them all so I've learned to be super picky. I feel bad there's so much I'm missing out on but not as bad now that I'm not just wasting money.

I have become comfortable with the idea of just testing out games. There are alot of games I may have only played a few times but I definitely got my $2 worth out of them. A cup of coffee, a drink at a bar, however you want to monetarily compare it, $2 on a game is nothing. Frankly, if I buy 10 cheap games in this sale that is probably less money than I'd spend if I had gone to a bar for happy hour instead. It's a lot healthier too.

I have no problem supporting a dev and getting a game to tool around even if I only play it for an hour or two. I ENJOY the experience of tooling around with a new game and seeing what it has to offer. I don't need to platinum every game I play. They are more like an amuse bouche. And it's cool that I CAN always go back to them if I want a fuller experience.

Not as much as I thought I would.

Shogun 2
Fallout New Vegas: Lonesome Road
Fallout New Vegas: Old World Blues
About $15

I so wanted Dead Island but seeing as how I missed it for $13 on Amazon and $10 on Steam I cant get myself to buy it for the sale price of $20.

That's my issue. If it had been me from 5 years ago, I might've spent $100-200 on this sale, but I haven't been able to justify over half the purchases I wanted to make solely due to time constraints. My backlog is big enough already, and it would be kind of dumb of me to keep adding on.

Phew. That took a lot more from my wallet than I was expecting. However, I barely made any game purchases this year outside of Portal 2, ME 1 & 2 Pack and Skyward Sword, and this haul will make me set for the entire year.

The only games I was hoping to pick u but didn't due to still too highly priced were:

Arkham City
Dead Island
Civ V GOTY
Serious Sam 3

Overall, a pretty solid Chirstmas Sale!

Have no clue how you guys can buy so many games, even if they're cheap. Waste of money or you guys have too much time for gaming

yep, but I won't buy any games this year so I had to stock up. Finally I have ALL kinds of games to keep myself busy - shooters, platformers, strategies, point-and-click, simulators, RPGs, beat'em ups, tower defence, indie stuff + mods - everything.
