Hollow Knight: Silksong |OT| It’s SHAW-time!!!!

I think that's the area before you fight the Bell Eater. Once you clear that, you should be good to go.
If have already beaten the Bell Eater, just press Up and the Needolin to X fast travel out of there.
Bell Eater seems to come later going by a quick google. Act 3?

Anyhow I'm out of that closed up area now. 👍

Been going through choral chambers for awhile, love the music, very tough enemies there too but now I'm free to go where I want so now I enjoy my time again.

Then found a bellway station, finally, so I've gone back to earlier areas to do some quests now.

And I sharpened the nail! Seems to boost my attack power a bit going by some quick tests.

I have a feeling that I've gone forward too quickly going by playthrough videos. I need to do some upgrading and I want to find that purple poison tool, looked very useful.
I bought a multi spin tool, 880 rosaries but worth every penny, takes longer to heal but gets me to full health every time.

It's funny I heard a lot about her but find it less difficult that many other boss. She has a clean moveset and pattern.

Still a very cool fight that took me some tries to beat.
It's like I knew her moves but I still had trouble dodging them because the window seems small

OK, finished at 92%. Absolutely not gonna bother to clean everything up, and I think there's some stuff I missed that I can't access anymore, anyway.

I'll say, beating this kind of game is like finally leaving an abusive partner you've broken up with and gotten back together five times, with the break-up and make-up sex getting progressively rougher each time, and with the last time being so messy you don't really remember who was wearing the strap-on and what flavor were the condoms. No, my life has never been that interesting. That's probably why I'm looking for that kind of emotions in vidya games.

Anyway. Silksong is a better game than HK, and it's not really a contest. I played a bit of HK just a couple weeks ago and it really feels like a prototype compared to HK at this point, kinda like Zelda BOTW to TOTK. It's a touch less unfair in its worst moments, the movement is a bit heavier and better for it, the map is way more interesting and less confusing, the intended progression is handled much better. It looks much better too, thanks to more colorful environments. Above all, this time we get a story that's actually told in plain English rather than the Souls-like morsels of gibberish of HK, that you were supposed to read fanfictions about to get some sort of plot out of. Sure, the writing is quite pompous most of the time and Hornet is as pretentious as they get, but she's gold compared to the silent protagonist of HK.

Finally, the soundtrack is fantastic and as great as Clair Obscur's music is, I wouldn't cry robbery if Silksong's snatched its GOTY award.
Almost all the boss themes are ridiculously intense and melodic. One late-game boss battles, in particular, stole my heart almost immediately by its music alone, and it's also a fantastic battle.

Still, the game has some design choices (issues, we may call them) that would absolutely be criticized to hell and back if this wasn't an untouchable indie darling that was already legend before release by virtue of the sheer time it took to come out. So yeah, great game, but I wouldn't score it a 10. Not that it matters, anyway.

How many attempts the last boss take you, I'm guessing it was 30-40 for me

More or less that many, I guess. Took me a good hour to learn what to do and (more importantly) not do in the first phase, after that it's just the same with a few more things sprinkled in that you can mostly see coming in advance. The most important thing is to not trigger her parry/riposte attack, which is devastating. I think it took me a little more than 2 hours to figure it all out and win.

Bell Eater was the first boss I faced coming out of Act 2 once I got out that area where you started. I was actively heading to the closest fast travel area wanting to get back to Bellhart or First Shrine to check the Wish Board though.

When I went in the fast travel area I heard the music was different I was like ok what happened here

Haven't met the bell eater yet. But (adding some spoiler tags, don't read if you just started, it's worth going in blind) I went back to bone bottom and then had a skull tyrant boss plow in out of nowhere to wreck the village, then kept revisiting old areas in hope of getting some upgrades, suddenly got caught by some guy carrying a cage and got thrown in jail and stripped naked and lost all my stuff…
This game. phew!
I'm back out in the real world again now.
Oh and I fought the phantom boss. That was cool!
I currently have a love-hate relationship with this game. Sometimes I think it's GOAT tier. Sometimes I absolutely hate it.

Always goat to me even with bilewater

finished the game at 95% in about 47 hours, i had my frustrations with the game but overall it was really good

still think the side quests and the pre-requisites for act 3 are pretty useless, and i prefer the world of the first Hollow Knight, but i'll definitely remember the game for the gameplay and the challenge

You guys are so fast. Or I am slow. I am at 70h and 89%.

Now ready for (I guess) the final boss.

The flower boss was annoying. Switch to spam tool and poison to kill it quickly.

Where do I get that poison tool?
I saw it in a playthrough video, seemed powerful. Is it part of that purple flower quest you get from that shady character hiding in dark room? I still miss one of those flowers.

Maybe. I don't remember it was quite early. Could be this quest.

After a quick check it's indeed this quest. Explore well shellwood.

Oh my god the bench in Sinners Road 🤣

Just getting there took me half a night and more before I finally got my pogo shit together. And now that bench mf.

Luckily you can (shortcut spoiler) flip the switch in the cage above the entrance to the bench, to go there directly when backtracking.

When I first saw it I knew there had to be a way to fix it so I started searching

lol yup that was annoying. There is at least one other bench troll move from the devs in the game. They know we all go there thinking "Yes! Finally!!" when we see a bench, perfect setup to be a douche

Damn now I got spoilered on that one... The one in Hunter's March got a laugh out of me.

I was fighting the Skull Tyrant (I think that's the name). I killed it but a freakin dropping rock killed me as I was watching the death animation. That got a laugh out of me too.

They did 'give it' to me tho. Walking back I was able to pick up the item needed to complete the quest.

Just did (end of Act 3 story event)
the red memory sequence. It really hit me hard. There is a melancholy and sadness to it. Especially the first memory of Hornet weavering and the weavers disappearing.
Then the whole atmosphere is so sad.
Then the connection to the first game lore and life of Hornet...
It really makes me want to dive again on the whole lore of Hollow Knight.

It pumps me up to see the ending now. On my way to the final boss.

Hmm, so I was able to get an extra memory locket in addition to all that was used to unlock all the slots in the previous 5 crests before you get to Act 3..
I think this makes the 21st locket. So I'm able to unlock an additional slot, leaving only 1 slot unlocked. Hopefully there's a way to get all of them unlocked as I thought I was SOL getting any more slots.

I'm about 96% complete with ~104 hrs in, so it'll probably not get much use at this stage, but could be helpful for dlc if there is one that comes out.

I was playing on Rog Ally yesterday, I got to the part you have to jump on balloons, I got so angry I felt like breaking my Ally! I took a break lol
but I'm loving the game!

Well this kind of sucks. Played a bit today and had 3 crashes within an hour on PS5.

I just deleted the game and am reinstalling it now and then will restart the system. Hopefully this helps. If this continues I just will have to wait for a patch. Not playing the game like this. Pretty lame.

End game spoilers, Im confused.
I decided to go after the ending that would being me into Act 3(so not binding with Grand Mother)! I have been playing a lot in Act 3 but decided to go back where I fought her. I know you can reach the top there. But her body is still there and I can bind still. It wont let me shoot to the surface without bindin woth her. Will this effect the ending if I bind with her?

Never played Hollow Knight, haven't played many 2d games in recent years, but this one is really good. I started playing with the sticks but after switching to d pad I became much better at the platforming parts.

I'm about halfway through Blasted steps at 30 hours.

I'm still using the analogs and have gotten a lot better at knowing when to pogo during the platforming. I'm sure the extra added abilities give you more room for error as well.
At 97% and trying to figure out how to progress the main quest while also revisiting every map and looking for additional unlock/breakable walls.

I got to max health according to the achievement as well max silk. I didn't see one for max lockets, so that makes me think there may be one hidden somewhere. If I can find it, that will be all crests completely unlocked.

Banging my head all evening against final boss...

I am quite disappointed by this boss being a third fight against Lace.
From the beginning, I find Lace's fights to be very generic and bland. And the character has no charisma. I have the feeling they made her the "Hornet" from Hollow Knight but she's too bland.

Anyway, phase 3 is a bit too busy visually (black character, with black attack all over the screen, on very dark background with black rain and black waterfall is not surprisingly difficult to read...). I just have to keep calm and take my time I guess

Also perfect occasion to complain again on shard/repair tool mechanic : once again it's useless and don't bring anything outside of a forced farming or complete ignorance of tools. I'd like to try different tools but I am out of shards and I hate farming. So no tool for me.

Are there any missables for 100%? So far I've been playing as blind as possible. I'm up against Lost Lace now (which I assume is the final fight of Act 3), and I've been meaning to clean up the rest. But if I've locked myself out of something that counts towards 100%, then I don't think I'm gonna bother anymore after the fight.

I think you can't lock you out of something for 100%.

The stuff you can miss (some journal entry for example) are not required I think.

Still in act 2. Beat a second beast fly.

Adding double jump so late in the game really throws off my timing.
You get used to it over time, but I also struggled a lot at first with the spiky platforming sections.

The game is going great, but I started watching some guides to reach certain map areas and to get what's needed for
Act 3
, and that reduced my enjoyment a little. Hopefully I won't feel the need to look at any more guides from here on.

I think it's much better than the first game. It has more diverse biomes and a lot more cool enemies. I'm on my 38th hour now, and I can't wait to get home to play more.

Figured out how to continue the main quest. Was stupidly obvious and I probably wasted a lot of time running to those areas and then abandoning them when nothing happened...lol

Tacks worked like a charm in the gauntlets (Hunters March and Craw Lake) I was stuck in, That, and just learning the moves of some of the encounters like the green crows. I think I sussed them out now lol. Tools get you far, but to complete some of the gauntlets you still have to be able to take some of the rounds nice and easy and chip away at the health. Find time to heal up, and dont get greedy.

Tacks, together with the flea brew, and the pollip pouch to make them poisonous.

Middle of Act 1, about to take on Widow and move on with the main quest after that.

Hollow-Knight-Silksong-2025-09-29-14-07-38.png

I figured out the (tool spoiler) poison flea brew doesnt make your melee attacks poisonous, it creates a cloud of poison around you that hits all enemies that touches it with a poison debuff[/spoiler]. You dont even have to do anything, and can focus on survival while it ticks away.

Sorry lads, decided to stay away from the thread to avoid spoilers.

I think I'm near the end now, and oh boy what a game! Last night I did the flea festival and that might be one of the best rewards for a sidequest I've ever seen in a game, just pure charm and lots of fun.

I don't have a lot to say about the game itself aside that I've loved it to bits. Hornet controls like a dream, even more so when it comes to launching attacks (the flow between sprint > attack > get thrown in the air > pogo attack is perfect) and the exploration is great, with lots of secret areas that just keep coming until the end of the game. Those last three or four bosses (the ones about retrieving their hearts) were all amazing and some of the most "sweaty hands" moments I have had with videogames in quite a while.

For me this is a 10/10, got nothing to complain about. Well, the story is a bit cliché, and I enjoyed the "going deeper and deeper" vibe from the first game more than the "going up and up" vibe of this one. But still, amazing sequel.

I am now at Last Judge I've heard it triggers act 2

I have explored every area except The mist and Bilewater that I know of. Any reason I should finish them before triggering act 2?

The Mist is randomized so don't worry about going back (I don't even think you can) to explore it.

I believe there is 1 of two bosses you can beat to trigger Act 2. I did the other boss The Phantom

Can confirm you can get enough lockets to fully unlock all crests in Act 3
There was a very sneaky one that I just found in Bellhart above your house....use Silk Soar to get up to a break in the ceiling...I don't think that was there in Act 2....regardless you need Silk Soar to get there

Dude I'm fucking terrible at this game.

I've been trying to beat Cogwork Dancers for like 4 hours now. I do fine on the 1st phase, I'm doing better on the 2nd phase but still die there most of the time, and I haven't made it past the 3rd phase yet. One time I was close but I just can't react quickly enough.

What crest are you using?

So I beat the game. I'll be honest I used a cheesy build (Plasmodium overload to get health regen every 6 sec without a hit)for the final boss as I didn't like it and couldn't beat it.

Overall an amazing game. Very challenging but fun for the most part. Packed with content and amazing gameplay. Gameplay is absolutely superior to the first game.
I prefer the first game in term of atmosphere but both are amazing.
I'll definitely replay both in the coming years.

Biggest complain is the repair system with shards... Ended up not using tool on the second half of the game because of that. Don't have time to waste in farming.

Love this boss. My favorite of the game.
It's indeed most a reflex fight as you now where they will strike.
Don't remember exactly but I think phase 3 doesn't last long.
Focus a bit more on phase 2 and it should do it.
Maybe use traps or some other tools to speed up the process (but let me guess : you're out of shards because the repair system. Yes I am not done complaining about that)

Reaper. Anyways immediately after that post I made it deep into the 3rd phase for the first time and after that I just couldn't keep up. They start moving super erratically.
If you can keep track of them, try to focus on just one of the COG dancers. They don't share a health pool, so you can kill one of them which will make it a lot easier. Reaper is what I used as well. And if you have the poison tool and tacks, throw them a little towards center from the corner. They will land on them and cause some passive posion damage. But wait to do this for the last phase as that is when it is the most hectic and you could use that damage while focusing on dodging.

Also, just focus on 1 hit at a time. Get in and get out. For ground dash attacks, down pogo on them is fairly easy to do to get you silk.

I heal when they do that multi-laser looking attacks where I can find a safe window. Otherwise, don't try to heal unless they go the opposite direction from you. Even though Reaper spawns orbs for hits after you heal, don't be tempted to get aggressive. It'll hurt you more than help.

That's a very fun fight and you'll get the hang of it the more you recognize their pattens. Good Luck

For an easier time, if you have it, the Architect Crest also is good for this fight, but I'm more consistent with Reaper for pogo attacks on bosses.

I finally made it to the last phase and mistimed a jump and died. I didn't have enough silk when the phase started to heal so the contact damage KO'd me.

GOT THEM. I kinda figured out a way to avoid the attack that was killing the most and also I switched to Hunter's Crest which seemed to work better.

You got this. Every death is a lesson learned...lol

Edit: Saying that, I'm a little stuck on one of the later bosses :)
