Hori's installation method is far superior to what you can get with glass, sadly.
sounds like a fundamental flaw and not just a batch issue.
who makes the one that came with the official case?
Amazon won't refund me...lol
I have the official Carrying Case and applying the screen protector was easy. No bubbles or anything. Haven't played Zelda yet so my system probably hasn't been very warm yet (did play a lot of 12 Switch) but other people in this thread have also said that they haven't found any issues with this screen protector.Any idea the if the official carrying case is with this protector or the cheap one?

tempered glass protector is the way to go, not these flimsy plastic ones

Lemme get this straight. Hori offers two protectors, Standard and Premium. This problem is in the more expensive, premium one. So the cheaper protector is better?
I have the cheaper Hori one, and have been using the Switch all day long, and it is still adhered perfectly.

The amFilm one is good. Cheaper than the "premium" plastic crap, too.Shit I splurged on the more expensive one and this is what I get lol. What glass options are good? I didn't see and edge to edge one

Here's how it looks post-installation.

Looks and feels like it isn't even there.

I'm using Illumishields on my Switch. No problems. $8 gets you a 3 pack.
Nothing is perfect found a Reddit user whos switch made the glass protector lift at the bottom. hope this is the exception not the rule. I mean damn the switch doesnt get any hotter then many other devices. Is the heat too concentrated?
https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/5xlfxy/switch_melted_my_screen_protector/
One big problem is we don't know the exact reason for this, if it's truly getting warm enough to soften/melt the adhesive to the point it's falling off there's a bigger problem. It seems more likely to me it's a sheering issue caused by the friction of the dock when sliding in and out. From the impressions of the Hori, it seems a lot of plastic protector especially are having that issue. (Softer, more friction across plastic which pulls harder when docking/undocking). We need someone with a heat map device map the Switch while docked. I just have a hard time believing it's heat that's the cause.
I am considering a USB C extension to avoid docking in the dock. Thinking of going with the Hori stand + that extension. Anyone know if this would work?

I suspect the Hori Premiums are called premium because they're thicker than the regular ones, and as a result they are not allowing heat to dissipate as easily. So, it makes sense that thinner ones would be ok.
Absolutely. If you buy a good quality one your screen will look and operate just as good.I grabbed this one after hearing the news - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3ASPNV/?tag=neogaf0e-20
Is the touchscreen still just as functional with a screen protector? I've never used one on any device.

The amfilm problems on reddit are concerning. Could be people not waiting for it to settle after application but I wonder if heat will just eventually cause issues. Maybe this thing just can't handle a screen protector well. Its possible those affected may be doing something to increase heat to the unit like putting it in an enclosed space though. Luckily I have had no issues with scratches and the dock isn't bent.

Oh there's multiple reports? Can you link the other ones? I want to keep my thread updated so if it's being reported by a lot of people I'll want to share that.
Depends on the screen protector application methodDo you have to use the wet wipe on a system directly out of the box when applying a screen protector?
I got mine from Amazon, and it came much earlier than was estimated. I think I had the same estimated delivery date, but it came yesterday.Do you have a link where to buy it? Amazon is sold out of everything
looks awesome though. I placed an order on Amazon but would like to get it sooner as estimated shipping is March 10 -13
Sounds good to me!Mind if I steal your pic/impression for the other thread? I'm hoping to hear back from people who went with Ozrly and other tempered glass/Hori/standard protectors as well.
I don't think Orzly ones have arrived yet in the Americas. Mine hasn't, and I ordered it when it was the only tempered glass option listed for Switch. Has two small five star reviews on Amazon UK, though. No Orzly screen protection impressions so far? Amfilm is not available in canada -_-
I bought the $10 HORI protector but I suck at applying that shit. Always have. I got everything settled down after several minutes of micro cloth cleaning, and noticed one mote of dust right in the middle of the screen.
Picked at the corner, lifted it up just enough to wipe that spot with the cloth, set it back down, and there was dust everywhere. My wife in the next room heard me cuss a lot right before I ripped that shit up and threw it in the trash. I was so frustrated.
Just ordered that tempered glass one and I'm hoping application is easier. I'll definitely be taking it into a steamy bathroom when the time comes.
