Horizon Zero Dawn - Gameplay Trailer | PS4 Pro 4K

This game looks aesthetically great but they few videos I've seen have me pretty sure that it's going to be a Ubisoft style open world with towers and repetitive side quests and endless bars to upgrade, which I'm not too interested in...

It's not a nitpick, I expect to see that animation many times during the course of the game. No one would complain if they removed it in a newer build and replaced it with her using a tool to get down. Like the conveniently placed white paint it's really gamey and jarring.

did it bother you that most of the jumping and climbing Nate Drake does during the course of an Uncharted game should destroy his body?

Coming from New Vegas lead writer I doubt it's going to be repetitive quest.

Still not seeing where the hype is coming from for this game, but hey, maybe it'll be good.

I was hoping this is part of a new grappling hook mechanic, but it seems just a cutscene when you want to leave the robot. :(

Uncharted 4 swinging mechanic for Horizon would be amazing.

My most hyped game for PS4, the graphics are incredible, the gameplay for now seems fairly decent and the setting and art is amazing (and very original).

Lol some people were stating that she clipped into the ground after she landed. But it looks like she's landing into high foliage. Game looks incredible.

Adding further depth to its open world, Horizon doesn't just have a main narrative to explore. Side quests of all sorts fill that enormous map just screaming 'waste hours in me.' And Guerrilla knows it. “You might notice some of the blue diamonds [marking missions]. Each one of those is a side quest," explains Ford. "You can talk to people and figure out what their problem is, give them some help if they need it. We have a hierarchy of quests."

"We have the main story and then below that we have Tribe quests which are kind of national level. So think of each of these tribes having big picture problems that affect everyone. Then below that there are the more personal stories. Those are some of the things that we’ll see in a place like Mother’s Crown where someone has something that’s very important to them - it’s very urgent but it doesn’t affect the entire world.”

I'm not a fan of her sliding down on that cable with her bare hands. Also, the hair physics are way too floaty, dreadlocks don't wave in the wind like that. And it seems like there will be a lot of hand holding in regards to the climbing mechanics.

Feeling less hyped to be honest.

Well first of all, no it doesn't, climbing in UC follows this template
and two, I have a bigger problem with ND insisting that Nathan Drake is supposed to be a regular guy, but hey, at least they animated Drake using a tool to slide down ropes. `\_(ツ)_/¯

Sure she clipped when she tackled the little enemy. How does she have skin left on that rope slide. Sure stuff like that will mostly be gone in the final game.

Game seems kinda simple there, hopefully more to the traversal than that. Did look amazing but need more challenge.

What is your point? He is still doing things that would really destroy a human physically. He's making 20 foot falls and somehow still saving himself by grabbing onto 2 inch ledges...It's fantasty/adventure game. It's incredibly picky and you could probably find similar nitpicks in any game.

Again, no he's not, you realize that all of his climbing animations are mocapped right? If you think that would destroy a human physically don't bother looking up someone like Jesse Le Flair. And no, how many games feature sliding down rope animations with a tool of any kind? The few that do are absolutely exceptions in this day and age. It's not nitpicky.

The game will have repetitive quests. Just like almost every other open world game in existence. It's just the way they pad out content. It's typical open world game design. Writers have very little to do with this.

You're probably going to be climbing that robot 10 times.

Bro come on.

I cannot wait to play this game in my PS4. And I really appreciate to be able to see the same trailer with proper fps, instead of the 10fps of the streaming conference.

I would like to see the same trailer on a current PS4, and see the graphical differences between the actual PS4 and Pro. I understand Sony won't do that, because they want to sell as much Pros as possible, but that would be appreciated as well.

Perhaps, if I only had a 4K TV, I could see the differences.
The issue is they can't really advertise differences because it may dissuade PS4 owners from buying the game. It's a shame but we'll have to wait for Digitalfoundry.

Yes he is? I mean a lot of people can do this kind of stuff but a lot of those moves especially after several years of doing it are pretty killer on your joints, ligaments and so on. Drakes rotator cuffs must be shot by the time he is 30.

Bro come on.
Are you saying there's no such thing as a middle aged rock climber? Or parkour artist?

Guess we should fire all those mocap artists then.

Damn. My 4k monitor is connected to my PS4. And I take it you can't watch 4k content on the PS4 can you through the youtube app?

Just checked on my PS4 and saw it was locked at 1080p for the video and no other options to run it 4k (could be wrong), but I'm running the built in chromecast app to play 4k on my TV.

youtube 4k looking like native locally rendered 1080p lmao

Seriously. I understand doing it properly would cost money. So Youtube should offer a paid subscription service to display 4k content appropriately to those willing to pay for it. And I'm sure outlets like Sony, game companies and MS would be willing to pay for it.

My friend works at a climbing school. He can hold his body weight horizontal in the air just by the tips of his fingers, did it on a door frame. He has insane upper body strength... you'll be surprised what the human body is capable of.

Actually YouTube's 4K content looks really great.

This video is in 1080p.

YouTube says that video is 1080p... Where's the 4K at?

It's there, at the link in the op. My computer can't run that though, it almost exploded when I tried it lol.

God damn it looks glorious in 1080p also. I hope we get many choices for what we want the power to go to for us HDTV peasants.

It's almost like doing thing consistently are really helpful for maintaining upper body strength and a good physique. 👀

It says 1080p for me.

The Mass Effect Andromeda video was 2160p and it looked great.

Robot dinos, looks amazing, and likely doesn't hurt it is a Sony exclusive.

Damn seeing that in 4k even if it is just up-scaled makes me want a ps4 pro even though my pc is likely going to be my main platform from now on.

This game is simply stunning in every way.

Digital Foundry is going to have a field day doing all these comparisons between the different pro modes and the vanilla PS4. No shortage of content in the foreseeable future for them lol.

Can he catch himself on a door frame while falling from 20 feet in the air and not rip his arm out of his socket?

lmao

I bet they really shoot people to mocap their reactions to being shot too.

That looked absolutely incredible. Still hope we see it's depth as an RPG, and I'm hoping we see some compelling narrative to the side quests. That and have dynamism can be the difference between a boring nothing side quest and a heart one.

Not sure if this is what you are talking about.

There is literally footage in one of he dev diaries of a mocap artist performing the climbing animations. How do you think they're done?

I'm not talking about the climbing animations. I'm talking about Nathan Drake falling from multiple stories to his death at full speed only to miraculously catch himself, by the tips of his fingers, on a 2 inch ledge or rock and magically be a-okay, which happens a bunch of times in Uncharted 4. Is there literally footage of a mo-cap artist doing that?
