Horizon: Zero Dawn will have online components & a full traversal system

But then there is this...

They described the game as a "journey of discovery", so just because you don't know anything about these robots at the start of the game, doesn't mean that you won't later, & it doesn't mean that there aren't high level perks in an engineer type skill tree that would allow you to re-program the robots.

I dunno man, I would like to believe this.

But discovery could be more metaphor than actually discovering how to hack a robosaur from a society that has primitive knowledge and do not know how to even reverse engineer. I do not see her going from the bush to hacker.

Maybe other ways of controlling, but I do not see it so much as her gaining technical prowess over just finding stuff that does it for her.

Unless she is finding DYI databanks littered around, I would feel this is a sloppy game mechanic to have in this game.

We don't know how they're gonna approach this, what we know is that at the start of the game, the protagonist is incredibly oblivious & naive, & she sees the robots the same way she sees animals & living creatures. We also don't know if the game takes place in the span of a month or a decade, or even more.

All we know is the protagonist's state of mind at the start of the game, they haven't confirmed any of the variables that could happen after that.

I read somewhere that they show concept art of a big city with crowded market and you see robot dog as pet in the artwork.

Seems to imply not all robots are against you. Although who knows, maybe that's just concept art. We do see artwork of multiple people hunting these robots which is why we thought it's multiplayer game in the first place.

Hence these discussions and brainstorming until it is revealed.

Gamescon and more importantly for this game PGS/PSX can't not come fast enough. Sometimes I hate drip-fed info that serves the hype machine addiction.

Agreed with this.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment

I mean, I have no illusions. I've never been a fan of Guerrilla Games. But then I watched that trailer, and I read their commentary about the possibilities and approaches to taking down that Thundermaw. If the game plays like that, it's automatically a winner. And then they keep adding these features I've wanted in one package for ages, and they're doing it.

The only thing left is execution. Do these things feel good to actually do? If they nail it, there's no way it disappoints. They said Monster Hunter is one of their main inspirations. Monster Hunter! One of my all time favorite series!

Haha or they can come ride with us. Either way is exceptable

Those traversal mechanics somehow make the game sound even BETTER. Climbing trees, swimming in the rivers, etc. It all sounds so amazing.

Don't let me down, Guerilla.

We already know there are robot pets in the game (there's a robot dog in one of the cities), so I hope the online is like Dragon's Dogma's pawn system but with machines. Either traditional pet style like dogs, which would be great for finding/digging up resources/hidden loot, or by turning/training one of the wild machines to be on your side. The grazer, for instance, could go around filling up the cannisters for you.

I'm sure none of this will be in the game, but the possibilities are potentially amazing.

Hold a button to grab please
Yo I was just about to post that I hope the climbing is like SotC. I would love that.

My most anticipated game of next year, after Uncharted 4 of course!

This game is gonna be so comfy. Get wrapped under a blanket hunting Dinosaurs, tradin', invading enemy camps, chilling out with my bow women, talkin' bout dinosaurs.

Can't wait to see more of this game! Definitely one of the games of the show at E3 for me.
After Killzone Shadow Fall never really doing it for me I didn't have high hopes for any game coming out of GG but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

The more I hear about this game, the more convinced I am that this is going to be the Monster Hunter game Playstation 4 will never get and I like it.

Man this game might be entering my #1 most anticipated game now. The traversal stuff sounds like it could be amazing. I can't really recall a game where you can climb and get into trees?

Hunting isn't the only option with robots, although "the other interactions you can have [is] something weÂ’re not going into yet". When asked directly if you could get on a large plate-headed robot's head, Jan answered, "that is something you will see later".

I knew it! We're so gonna get to ride Thunder Beak to visit all the lands. He's gonna be Aloy's Trico.

I wish it was co-op like the original rumors said, but I'll take a solid single player game if that's what they think is best. Hopefully the social features are meaningful and not something tacked on.

they already specified it's a single player game, multiplayer are probably meta things like souls blood messages
i'd be surprised if they're doing something like dragon's dogma pawn systems, character creator in this kind of settings could be pretty interesting

A pawn like system akin to Dragon's Dogma would be the best.

Although, I wouldn't mind a shared world scenario like the Souls series either.

If it's just leaderboards/social challengers, meh.

Online components made my hype drop to the ground D=

Hopefully they are not necessary, not deep, and that the entire point of the game is the exclusively offline single player game that loses nothing by not using online...

Traversal system could be pretty cool though. Hopefully it's not as bad as AC, but I have very few doubts they'd make it that bad.

Co op?
Shared world or intrusion like Souls?
Leaderboards?
Ghosts?
Counter co op?

Plenty of other more acceptable options for an "online component" that don't have to be multiplayer.

Umm, all of those except leaderboards and ghosts are considered multiplayer...

If there are online features that only subtly enhance the core game, I hope they're implemented in such a way as to not inhibit suspend/resume.

I've been mostly playing Bloodborne offline because suspend/resume is so convenient when I can only get in 20-40 minutes of playtime here and there. For the rare times I can play for a couple of hours, I'll switch to online.

I have a feeling the online element is going to be like that of Dragon's Dogma's "Ur-dragon" boss fight where its a giant boss with insane health and the whole community will be charged with killing it as a collective to hopefully get its unique loot. Maybe. Probably not though.

This game just keeps getting better and better the more I hear about it.Man I just want to play it right now.

I fully agree. I hope it comes out as well as it sounds now, it's going to be awesome. But, it's way too early to tell so I'll still withhold total judgement. I will say that if it keeps sound about as good as it does so far, it's totally a day one purchase for me. To give perspective, I only make a few of those a year. Witcher, Mad Max unless something turns me off of it, No Man's Sky and Fallout for this year and this year is extraordinary in amount of really good games for me. In fact it's the only day one game I can think of for 2016 unless NMS is delayed til next year.

I really love the MP Guerilla have done so far but in this game I only really want leaderboards or something like that. I really love co op. But I want this game focused on singleplayer. Maybe for the sequel give us co op.
