Housemarque's Resogun announced for PS4. Trailer Inside

Housemarque always gets my money. Unless it's free for PS+ in the US too.

Game looks great my eyes are bleeding in the most awesome way possible.

This one was of downloadable titles that interested me most, and it's great that it's free for PS+ subscribers.

Mesmerizing, but I didn't care for SSHD so much and this seems...too similar? Good for some, but not me I guess..

I was honestly a little underwhelmed, I love stardust to death and really wanted a sequel.

Watching the trailer again though, I like it and will defiantly sink hundreds of more hours into it like I did with stardust, it just took me a little bit to accept it being a sidescroller but those overdrive powers are boss.

Housemarque has never let me down with any of their games. I wont lie, I would have loved a sequel/successor to Outland, but this is looking awesome either way. They also have a second PS4 game coming so im interested to see what that will end up being.

Screens. Next gen evidently is all about those particles lol. Looks awesome. Interesting to note that Resogun's particles are fully geometrical.

Every time I see a next gen game throwing crazy particles on screen, I think about Zone of the Enders and start sobbing uncontrollably.

Wasn't as big of a jump over Super Stardust as I had hoped (well, as far as the "surface" of the graphics go, the particle stuff does seem like something the PS3 could never ever replicate), but on the other hand... this IS a small digital download so I guess we shouldn't expect too much visually.

Looks fantastic, and knowing Housemarque, it will definitely be great.

Some better footage would be nice though, YouTube compression can't really keep up with the gazillion particles.

This game was sold for me, as soon as the presenter said Housemarque. I didn't even need to know what the game was at that point. It just so happened that it looks amazing, too.

This looks amazing. I am getting a total Defender vibe from this game, and I grew up with a Defender arcade cabinet in my living room.

very excited for this. circular levels remind me of fantasy zone

except without the cute. not that the housemarque effects look bad.

From Housemarque's Facebook

RESOGUN's soundtrack and sound design are 100% Ari Pulkkinen's, who curated also Dead Nation, Outland, and the Stardust series. The music in the trailer is not Ari's, just so you know

Fantasy Zone meets techno and particle effects. Neat. I worry though because in shooters I have trouble with ones that go too effects crazy as it muddles where the hitbox on my shots are for me...Its gorgeous but I worry I wont be able to keep track on whats going on like in other shmups I play.

datastorm namecheck in the PR :) Loved that and StarRay back in the day.

Wonder if this will have stereo 3D support? That could be really pretty.

Yeah, Datastorm was the first thing I thought of too and its nice to see Housemarque looking towards the Defender template for inspiration.

SSHD did a wonderful job at improving on Asteroids, and if this can do the same for Eugene Jarvis's original creation... could be shooter heaven!

I am quite interested, this is 100% exclusive to PS4 only right?

Edit: Nvm, found out its on Vita too. That's a good news since there's probably cross buy.

Looks great, probably the PS4 exclusive i'm looking forward most at launch.

It does look awfully close to a GAFer's XBL Indie game Orbitron: Revolution tho, but then again defender.

If it looks close it's because they are both new versions of Defender. Other than that, the footage you presented doesn't look the same at all in terms of visual style or effects.

On topic: Is there a version of this Resogun footage that isn't all macroblocks?
