How a Gaffer and his 3D printer trolled the world (2nd NX fake)

kankki had people f5'ing all night, losing sleep, showing up late for work or forgetting to study for tests then failing miserably, not getting into college, turning sexual favors on craigslist just to afford their next score.

If you can't see where his bad attitude is, I admit I'm not able to show you. People making mockups and just posting them without pretending they're leaks are the ones I like.

Me too. It comes down to the fact that for society and groups to function, trust has to be the default mode of interaction. It is easy to take advantage of that and adds nothing of value to the world, it only results in cynicism. It is one of the reasons I like gaf, the mods don't let liars have free reign, so we can have a little trust here.

Sorry for being too serious.

Thought the batteries in my smoke detector were bad because of this video. Didn't bite on the fake, but that got me! (Change your batteries, dum dum)

he's kind of done the marketing departments of the game world a favour.

as if we didn't scream FAKE loudly before, now if there's perfectly lit and exposed video of EviLore dancing with a running prototype in his hand in front of today's CNN broadcast we'd all be like, pffff, not real. #teamreal is dead

This is actually the most useful thing for Nintendo if they are paying attention.

1) Sets expectations low - even now we know it's fake, there will be trepidation ahead of announcement.

2) If they are planning on having either a controller or handheld with no face buttons they have valuable feedback and idea of how to pitch based on the reaction.

3) Immediately casts doubt on future leaks

There are probably more benefits I am not thinking of.

It's a fucking pretend game controller. Society isn't on the verge of breaking down. Get over it.

Who is kankki? Why is he? Is this new video just another elaborate hoax? What does it all mean? These are the thoughts in my mind as I lean back in my chair. I never left the hype train, I never will.

Well done.

Well played.

Thats amazing. I always thought of using the uni 3D for making experimental controllers and designs, never thought about using it produce a fake.

No, you have a point. After the Rayman for Smash leak and this charade, we have two examples where deceivers have been praised and elevated to celebrity status. This is a poor precedent and only encourages more people to lie and troll for attention or fame.

Which is why Kankki should not get a tag. We can be good sports when we fall for it, but the last thing we should do is encourage them.

That said, I think we should kill Kankki. It's tough, but fair. No hard feelings or anything, this should just be standard operating procedure.

3D printers are a game changer in the fake leaks industry. :p

And they're only get cheaper by the day. No longer only the property of specialist companies but of regular households. Come the next generation we could be seeing loads of 3D printed fakes.

I'm ok with this, and he shouldn't be banned. There is a difference between trolling and doubling down, letting it sit until Nintendo finally reveals the truth and following up another leak and then showing to everyone how easy it is to fool people on the Internet. I found it highly instructional and informative, and a great lesson not to just accept anything you see. The time he took in the video makes all the difference.

Yeah definitely, he is not doing it out of malice.

It WAS funny with all the trees etc and he eventually let us all in on the joke by sharing the production etc.

Personally I feel we are laughing with him, not being laughed at and I was one of those willing to believe.

People acting way too serious.
